3 stars for this Halloween tale your second grader can read on his/her/their own. Haunted house plot is cute, but it‘s a bit dated and a white girl dresses up as Sacajawea, which was a common mistake when I was younger but not something to condone. #Halloween #kidlit #TeamSlaughter #Scarathalon22

Hello #TeamHendrix! Do you hear those spooky sounds? They‘re the sounds of October fast approaching and the start of #Scarathlon2021! A couple of things I wanted to mention: 1. I am fast approaching my baby‘s due date and so my time has been filled with a ton of medical appointments-if I‘m slow to respond, that‘s why but I‘ll do my absolute best. 2. Thank you to those who have posted their Spooky TBRs and earned themselves 50 early bird points⬇️

StayCurious It‘s not too late to show me those book stacks! Remember to tag me in all your #teamhendrix posts. 3. @TheSpineView has created a great tracker - see her original post and email her to get your copy. 4. There will be a couple more readathons hosted by Littens in October to help us earn points - @Patchshank is hosting #necronom-athon and @aperfectmjk is hosting #littenlisten. I will also be hosting one - more details to come! (edited) 3y
StayCurious Finally, 5. @Linsy is hosting a fun Scarathlon Picture challenge. It's completely optional, but might help us get into the spooky spirit! 6. I have another awesome tracker by @msradiosilence - email me for the link!
7. I also wanted to mention that once again, kids books absolutely count, graphic novels count, audiobooks count - whatever format you want to devour your Halloween reads. If you have any questions, just ask!

alisiakae Don‘t forget my 4th (or is it 5th 🤣 2020 messed up my sense of time) annual #screamathon challenge, which gets you RC points for Scarathlon too! 3y
StayCurious @4thhouseontheleft darn it, I even had that on my list to mention in my post haha. Thank you for the reminder! 3y
Bookishgal71 I‘m so excited! 3y
Alora Can I still sign up for Scarathlon or is it too late 3y
StayCurious @Alora You can absolutely still sign up! Scroll down to my original post about the event (it's not far) to find the sign up link. 3y
Alora @StayCurious yaaay!! Thank you so much!!! I was so sad when I thought I missed it 2y

Had a surprisingly well rounded month. Dont think I'm quite done with spooky season even though it's November already 👻 @Eggs #spooktober #readingstats #octoberwrapup

Eggs Nice photo and well done 👍🏼 on the reading!! 4y
Bookzombie I‘m not quite done with the spooky season either. 👻 4y
MatchlessMarie @Bookzombie my birthday is mid November so it just feels wrong to transition to the next holiday before then 👻 4y

October is calling!

The first 2 are in progress, but I‘m not at 50% in either, so carrying them over into October.

Otherwise it‘s a mix of witches, vampires, aliens, angels, some gods & demons, and with Pratchett Death is sure to make an appearance, some walking undead, a mix of weres, fae, elves, some wizards, misc powers and who knows what else I might encounter. 😱😈👺👼💀👻🧟‍♂️🧛‍♂️🧙‍♂️🧝‍♂️🦹🏻‍♂️🧙‍♀️🧞‍♀️🧚‍♀️👨‍🚀👽🦇🐺

#OctoberTBR

Gezemice Nice! The Testaments is good and Bobiverse has found its way to my favorites! 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice I‘m looking forward to both, so yay! 4y
Daisey That‘s quite a TBR list! 📚 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Daisey You know how it is, I like lots to choose from! And then I usually add a few others that I come across mid-month too.😂 4y

@TheReadingMermaid

MartinaLove Can we read thriller/mystery? 5y
Clwojick @MartinaLove Absolutely! You‘re on #TeamSlaughter so all mysteries thrillers, and suspense read get your team 2 points, if it‘s a different genre than it‘s worth 1 point. 5y

So while out on my walk yesterday I saw this house already decorated for Halloween 🎃 🕷🕸 although some may say “Fall” I say spiders and pumpkins are Halloween 👻 🎃🕷🕸 so had to take a couple of pictures for all my fellow Halloween lovers 😝

Karkar Awesome! My husband will not let me put my decorations out till October 1 st. 5y

2/7. I didn‘t make these goals. Too many books and not enough time. Also blaming Library holds. They all come in at once.

PrezBookster They do!!! How was Beautiful Boy? 5y
Samplergal @PrezBookster I really enjoyed it. It was haunting and sad, as you might imagine, but well written, and in the end, hopeful. 4⭐️ 5y
BarbaraBB What is your favorite of these? 5y
Samplergal Since I only read two, Beautiful Boy. It was wonderful. I look forward to reading the rest, soon. I was not a fan of Ellen Hopkins. It may be the politics. 5y
Erinreadsthebooks I really liked Beautiful Boy. I read it years ago and am really glad it's a movie. 5y

Let's just say if it wasn't for#audiobooks I wouldn't be reading anything these days.

Daisey I definitely feel that way about audiobooks during certain points of the school year! 6y
Andrew65 Well done on what you did get read, work does have a big habit of getting in the way! 6y
Lmstraubie @Daisey @Andrew65 It's so true! It has been crazy since school started. Thanks for the 💜 6y

I have now read this to my daughter every year since kindergarten (4 years now). I love that, even though she is reading Rick Riordan, J.K. Rowling, and many others, she still wants me reading to her at bed time. And I do not want to hear that someday this will end.

JaclynW I love reading to my kids too! I don't want it to end either! 6y
JillR Same here! My eldest is 10 and still happy to be read to 😊 6y
