The Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice | Donna Kauffman, Allyson Charles, Kate Angell

Panpan

This was supposed to be a calm, relaxing day. It was anything but. 😬 However, I did finish this book tonight!

Purely a #coverlust read. I did not realize it was 3 short stories, heavy on the romance and light on quality.

Sweet Magic: The bakery setting and family dynamics were nice.

Love Spells Disaster: Awful and boring.

Sweet on You: The old lady was funny. That‘s it.

I feel like I‘m dragging my feet on this audio. Not because it isn‘t good, but it‘s the final book and I‘m worried about my friends. #screamathon

Really enjoyed this book!! It dragged in some parts but the ending made it all worth it. Time to watch the original movie now! 🍿🐱

Caroline2 I tried reading the first book of this series and couldn‘t get into it. Either it was too daft or I wasn‘t in the mood for that kinda comedy at the time. 🤷‍♀️ 9h

I haven‘t seen the movie and I read The Rules of Magic first. I liked this, but not nearly as much as it‘s prequel. I think my expectations were really high and the story wasn‘t as compelling. I wasn‘t as invested in Sally and Gillian as characters as I was in Frances and Jet. However, this was the book that introduced the Owens family to the world, so it has my respect. I have to check out the movie now.

Linsy It is very different from the prequel. I read it in the order you did and, maybe because of that, it took me a bit to get into the original. 9h
KatieDid927 @Linsy Yeah exactly. I like it, just wasn‘t totally what I expected. 7h

Another Miss Marple mystery. I liked this one but not as much as the previous two. It was a little more obvious, & I didn‘t love the characters. Still a pick though. #scarathlon #teamslaughter

This gem is a retelling of Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein, but it starts with what most readers of the original understand—who the real monster is—and takes it up a few giant notches.

My full (slightly spoilery) review is on my blog:

This was so cute! The illustrations are irresistible, especially if you pay close attention to the other ballerina‘s facial expressions and how they evolve into acceptance of Vampirina by the end of the book.

I just realized this is also a series on Disney Jr and now I want to watch it!

I love this 1902 edition of Poe‘s completed works that we picked up at a used bookstore in Salem last October. It‘s been a while since I‘ve read Poe, but at least one of his stories involves poison, right?

If not, then I‘ll go with one theory of how he died...alcohol poisoning.
