I heard about this book from a meme where the author tweeted a bad review and clapped back that he was sorry his book about vampires on a submarine wasn‘t “realistic enough” for him. I knew immediately I had to read this book. It‘s so crazy it works. A submarine WOULD be the perfect place for a vampire. But how on earth (or at sea) could the humans stand a chance against them? Read and find out. It was a satisfying ride!

I wanted to read this book as a child but never got the chance. Reading it now as an adult I know I would have loved this book back then. It‘s an interesting survival narrative of a girl alone on an island that reminds me a bit of Hatchet, another childhood favorite of mine. It comforts me to know there are books like this with strong female protagonists for young girls to read.

I was heartbroken in elementary school when I didn‘t get put in the reading group for this book. Finally going to dive in after all these years!

Made 300 books read on Goodreads with this gem! It is exactly what it claims to be: a description of the way each famous writer sits down and gets it done. I read it during breaks at work and each chapter is the perfect length for that. It gives great insight as to what did and did not work for these authors. As a result, it can also serve as a look at what may or may not work for aspiring authors. I loved this book!

Started the book that‘s been on my Goodreads To Read shelf the longest and have already flown through Part One! I love the way he writes. I read the Kite Runner in high school so I guessed I would like this too and so far it is great!

I‘ve wanted to read this ever since I saw the movie. The movie is a cinematic masterpiece but it hinted that there was way more story to be found under there which I assumed could be found in the book. I was right! This story is gripping and spooky. The characters and the story are 100 times more fleshed out in the novel. I tried not to read it at night because it is very creepy and has different scares than the movie. 10/10 Great horror novel.

Just finished completely tearing through this book! It felt just like playing a video game. Super addictive and satisfying at the same time. I don‘t know if it would hold up well on a re-read but it sure was a fun ride on the first read.

Nan2 I wondered the same thing! I loved the ride, but wondered if I‘ll want to read it again now that I know what happens. Love the concept though. Would be great to have another story from that realm 3y

The intro really sucked me into the world of Salem at this time. I'm hoping this will be good research for The Crucible. So far so good. :)

Got this for Christmas after seeing the movie at Thanksgiving. Having time to let the movie sink in was good for the reading experience for sure. The movie hit me so fast with all this new information! The screenplay helped me sort out and organize it all much better in my head. J. K. does not disappoint and the expanding wizarding world is turning out wonderfully!

Definitely hooked enough to want to see how this series ends but I have a sinking feeling that this story didn't need to be stretched into a trilogy. Finally took a turn that I'm actually interested in following at the end so I am sticking around for book 3!

I'm starting to get picky when it comes to vampire stories and this one didn't disappoint. It wasn't what I was expecting which ended up being a good thing. The take on vampire mythology was unique but still familiar enough to satisfy the craving for a good vampire book. I'm definitely considering picking up one of the other books in the series when I look for my next vampire fix.
