The highly anticipated standalone from the award-winning, New York Times bestselling author of the Graceling Realm seriesa kaleidoscopic novel about grief, adventure, storytelling, and finding yourself in a world of seemingly infinite choices. Jane has lived an ordinary life, raised by her aunt Magnoliaan adjunct professor and deep sea photographer. Jane counted on Magnolia to make the world feel expansive and to turn life into an adventure. But Aunt Magnolia was lost a few months ago in Antarctica on one of her expeditions. Now, with no direction, a year out of high school, and obsessed with making umbrellas that look like her own dreams (but mostly just mourning her aunt), she is easily swept away by Kiran Thrasha glamorous, capricious acquaintance who shows up and asks Jane to accompany her to a gala at her family's island mansion called Tu Reviens. Jane remembers her aunt telling her: "If anyone ever invites to you to Tu Reviens, promise me that you'll go." With nothing but a trunkful of umbrella parts to her name, Jane ventures out to the Thrash estate. Then her story takes a turn, or rather, five turns. What Jane doesn't know is that Tu Reviens will offer her choices that can ultimately determine the course of her untethered life. But at Tu Reviens, every choice comes with a reward, or a price. Read Jane, Unlimited and remember why The New York Times has raved, "Some authors can tell a good story; some can write well. Cashore is one of the rare novelists who do both."

I am FINALLY getting to this one (on audio), I think the horrendous cover has kept me from actually reading it tbh because I own an ARC and I love Kristin's writing but here we are. Absolutely loving it so far at about 33% through.

LOVING this book so far. It‘s a genre-bending mystery experiment that still feels cozy, classic, and genuine. The tone is just so delightful. Impossible to describe, but so easy to get lost in for hours. Excellent heroine.

I think it‘s fair to say I‘m enjoying it, although I‘m only just getting to the meat of what‘s going on. #ya

Presenting my 2018 Top 7, which I guess is really a Top 12 because I always group comics volumes together by series. The books are listed in the order I read them, not my order of preference; I never bother to rank these things.

That said, JANE, UNLIMITED was my absolute favourite book of 2018. I tried not to expect much from it since Cashore's last book, BITTERBLUE, is an all-time fave, but it blew. my. mind. 6 stars.

Lindy Oooh! Thanks for reminding me about this series that I‘ve been meaning to read: 10mo
xicanti @Lindy I loved it so much that I couldn't wait for my library to acquire and process the second omnibus. I had to run out and buy it. 10mo

No idea why I put this off for so long, what a gorgeous, twisty ride this was! Think Sliding Doors set in a house that‘s just a bit magic in a world that‘s almost like ours (except Monet‘s water lilies have frogs on them) where 1 choice plays out 5 different ways.

JanuarieTimewalker13 Ooooh, that does sound fetching!! 1y

Jane, Unlimited is a fun romp through many genres - after her aunt's death, Jane is visiting a mysterious mansion on an island and encounters a turning point. Whichever choice she makes leads to a different story in a different genre style (heist, space opera, gothic horror, etc) - Cashore lays out each pathway so you can see where all roads lead. Cashore originally intended this to be a choose your own adventure book, but revised it to this. Fun!

bookandcat #boutofbooks and #vacation book 8 - I know it also fits a #sfftbrchallenge prompt but I must check my list in the morning to figure out which number. Fun #YA book with an adorable hint of romance blossoming between #lgbt characters - #weneeddiversebooks 1y

After the death of the aunt who raised her, Jane feels lost. A chance encounter with a wealthy acquaintance from her childhood leads to an invitation to Tu Reviens, the glamorous mansion Kiran‘s family owns. What Jane doesn‘t realize is that Tu Reviens holds many secrets and truths for those brave enough to see them.

Jane makes a choices that set her on a path to facing truths about herself. A genre-spanning choose your own adventure. Superb!

Two books from my #nationalbookloversday #bookhaul - a Rookie compilation themed around love (signed!!) and a YA novel that changes from heist mystery to spy thriller to gothic horror to space opera to fantasy as it goes on. Sounds kind of like how I remember The Pagemaster making me feel 😂

Sweeping and imaginative, but not for everyone. Different realities and different endings depending on which one is chosen. Normally not my thing, but it was well done and worked.

This book is all over the place, but in a good way. Exploring the multiverse, dealing with the FBI, Jasper the dog, kidnapped children, spies, art theft, making umbrellas, and a missing woman who‘s become part of the house. Great setting for quirky characters and their various capers taking place in a very interesting house on an isolated island.

I read this book and finished it in the hope that the ending would be worth it. Jane is all alone and is invited to an island where artwork goes missing and everyone has a story. Different scenarios take place and finally Jane ends up in another dimension. I felt this was like reading the Groundhog Day book🤔. Authors favorite book is Rebecca and she uses many references from it.

Not sure what I think. The book is kind of an homage to Choose Your Own Adventures but all five possible endings are included. The problem for me was that Jane, the main character, never seemed to materialize into any clear character or personality. The focus was so much on Jane‘s choices that it felt like I never developed any connection with the character.

A fun read about a young college dropout who goes to a gala on an island estate and encounters mysterious circumstances. The story is then comprised of about 5 different directions the story could go depending on which choice the protagonist makes. A sort of choose your own adventure...🌟🌟🌟🌟

Picked this up after hearing about it on some podcast or other... so not liking the main character at all! I am the type of person who slugs through books in the hope they get better (don't think I've ever not finished a book!) but thinking of doing that for this one. But my head keeps telling me to just keep going.... first world book problems! 😂😮

Currently listening! I heard a lot about this book around its release date but was never super interested in picking it up until it was the only appealing available audiobook on my library's Overdrive app. So far I like it! The author introduces an island mansion and a mysterious cast of characters, then there are 5 possible paths (and genres) the main character can follow.

#2018checkin

1. 154
2. I don't have a numerical goal. I just wanna read a lot of awesome, diverse stuff.
3. I'm still seventeen kinds of pumped over how much I loved JANE, UNLIMITED by Kristin Cashore.
4. These things always include one question that stumps me. I don't even know, y'all. I don't think anything I'm super excited for, like Katherine Addison's next book or the start of Maggie Stiefvater's Ronan-centric trilogy, is slated for 2018.

March stats!

I had a great reading month. Three 5-star books! (The other two were SILVER SURFER VOL 5 by Dan Slott & Michael Allred and THE COUNTESS CONSPIRACY by Courtney Milan.) Whee!

I also read EVERYTHING I bought this month and devoured all the Milan novels I bought in January. Hopefully I can finish my last 5 2018 purchases in April, after which point I'll make more progress on my pre-2018 TBR.

Holy crap-a-moley! That was a reading wild ride. This book....there are no words to even begin to describe or review it. A death, art theft, a spy network, multiple dimensions, umbrella art, a talking dog. How it all fits together you ask? Literally the authors note at the end of the book tells you how this all fits together. Overall, I really liked it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Cashore's BITTERBLUE is one of my 6-star books, but I tempered my expectations going into this one because it's kinda unreasonable to expect someone to churn out two mindblowing books in a row.

Not GOOD books. Not even GREAT books. I'm talking FUCKING TRANSCENDENT.

BUT CASHORE FUCKING DID IT.

I dunno if I want to talk your ear off about this book's approach to genre and character and sheer invention or NEVER talk about it. It's like THAT.
