A twist on Jane Eyre w/multiple cons. Starting w/competitively wealthy, gossipy women (loved the snark!), good-looking Eddie from a questionable background that can be an A, Eddie‘s wife Bea, who came from nothing and ended up successful, besting her friend, copying her style, to Jane the dogwalker engaged to Eddie. #NetGalley

This is the Best book I have read in 2021! The oral history format works wonderfully and the writing in this debut is outstanding. Readers of Daisy Jones and the Six might be expecting a copycat story and instead they may be pleasantly surprised as this is so much more. Each new clipping or interview weaves together the story Sadly, there is no real Opal, Nev or Sunny to follow on social media. Thanks for ARC #NetGalley Simon & Schuster

Nute Nice review! I love music! Stories about musicians (even fictional) are always intriguing! Can‘t wait to read this book!🙂 11mo
cdcnmac @Nute I highly recommend this one and it has a number of Instagram sites devoted solely to this book. The story was so real you wanted to look people up online to get more! Did you also check out Daisy Jones and the six? I like this better but since you love music I think you would enjoy that also. 11mo
Nute I purchased Daisy Jones and the Six immediately because I was into Taylor Jenkins Reid at the time. I haven‘t read it yet. I think that this book might appeal to me more as well. The funny thing is that I was actually going to pass it by until coming across your review today. 11mo

cdcnmac @Nute 🤓Which books do you recommend from TJR? I just connected that she wrote Malibu Rising and Seven Husbands… 11mo
Nute Top three include the two that you have mentioned with Malibu Rising being her latest novel and Evidence of the Affair which is a tiny impactful short story. 11mo
Nute Also enjoyed After, I Do and Forever, Interrupted. These are her debut novel and early work so she was developing. I think that readers always need to give that grace period to authors as they discover and then hone their talents. (edited) 11mo
cdcnmac @Nute Thank you, I will add these to my TBR🤓. Great talking with you and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Opal & Nev. 11mo
Nute Enjoyed sharing some early Sunday morning time with you. Looking forward to our future conversations. Have a wonderful day! Happy reading!☺️ 11mo

Thank you for the invite @EadieB ! #ThankfulThursday @Cosmos_Moon

1. My parents came up with an original spelling using an e and an i instead of an a and y for Meribeth so I have been Beth, Beth Ann and Meribeth throughout my life and “Meribeth Ann!” When I was in trouble as a little one.

2. A colleague gave a glowing endorsement of me and my work to our new office Director who has been very positive and enthusiastic so far (day four🤓)!

EadieB Thanks for playing! Good luck with your new boss! 2y
Cosmos_Moon Love the spelling! Thanks for sharing and glad so far good with a new director 🥰 2y

Thanks #NetGalley @NetGalley for an copy of #Cursed Objects: Strange but True Stories of the World's Most Infamous Items This book starts off with a bang including a catchy poem warning of the dire consequences of stealing this book, what qualifies as a cursed object and the stories about specific objects by category. The first chapter tells the fascinating history of the largest blue diamond in the world, the Hope diamond.

Thanks @NetGalley #488RulesforLife #NetGalley. A light read by Australian comedian Kitty Flanagan of ABC TV's The Weekly. I wanted more laughs so this fell short. A book of lists to make the world a better place. It‘s interesting in small doses. Shopping: Do not call anyone older than you are Darling. Don‘t say a book/movie has a twist or they spend the whole time thinking “I wonder if this is the twist?”

I grew up reading advice columns like Dear Abby and have always loved reading “advice” questions and answers. I also love to give advice. Needless to say I enjoyed so much about this audiobook. Looking forward to discussing it at book club and subscribing to the Dear Sugar podcast for more advice!😉

Expected to really love this book because of the original concept. It was a little slow to get into and then incredibly confusing to keep track of all the players. I wish I had realized at the start that they were thoughtful discussion questions at the back of the book. I think if the pacing was tightened up and the story edited and shortened it would‘ve been a great read.

rubyslippersreads I found this very confusing, as did everyone in my book club. 2y
cdcnmac I bet it was a great discussion! I like hearing how everyone interprets events that are left open to interpretation 🤓 2y

Exciting: Thermostats w/algorithms compare sleep, set optimum temp. Bulb w/filters vary light from warm yellow to strong blue w/sleep tracker to dialdown light in eve & increase in am. Car dashboard w/blue light for am commute
We need more than 7 hrs of sleep/night to maintain cognitive perf. After 10dys of 7 hrs sleep the brain is as dysfunctional as it would be w/o sleep 24hrs
Scary -drowsy driving and mirco sleeping when driving.

Why we sleep is an interesting study and also perfect o😆pre-slumber reading, average 2-3 pages per night🤓. It is a bit too scientific for me as I‘m more interested in how to get more than all the data and statistics if I‘m honest. I balanced out the month with The Testaments after reread of The Handmaid‘s Tale for book club.

cdcnmac @Nute Thank you! I am very active on GoodReads and occasionally active on Litsy. I Love listening to audiobooks🤓. 11mo
Nute Audiobooks is still an aspiration for me. I have to figure out how to listen without drifting off in thought and getting distracted. To be fair in this conclusion, I have attempted to listened to an audiobook only twice. Both occasions I spent most of my time hitting the rewind button. I will try again because I was really enjoying the full-cast reading. 11mo
cdcnmac @Nute I am a multitasker so I can‘t just sit and listen. try this next time you have a lot of dishes or dusting, basically something a little boring/mindless and put on headphones and enjoy. It is important to like the narrator‘s voice too so suggest listening to a sample first and then testing between 1.25 or 1.5 to speed it up a little. Once you find a great audiobook you will be hooked. Prodigal Summer, narrated by auth was a great one. 11mo
Nute Thanks for those tips. Maybe headphones 🎧 are the key. Maybe a more intimate auditory connection will keep me focused - hearing the story right in my ear, up close and personal. Yes! It so good to talk with you this morning, Ms. Meribeth!😊 11mo
