Found a super cute used bookstore in Brainerd, MN called CatTale's and chatted up the owner who was my age or younger (mid 30's). Picked this up because I adore her Speedwell & Stoker series. Then stopped at the dollar store for candy....

I'm going on vacation next week and trying to plan what books to take. What do you take to read on vacation?

Hardcover? Paperbacks? E-books?

What genre? Action/adventure? Mystery? Beach read? Contemporary/romance?

Shorter stories? Chunksters?

Something I've started? Something new?

Buy something when I get there? (It's a road-trip, no planes, if that helps)

HELP!

monogamist_reader That's a tough question. I would say ebooks... So you have more space in your luggage for paperbacks 🙈 6d
charl08 If it's a car, I'm taking as many as fit. You never know what you'll feel like reading... 6d
shadowspeak17 I would say ebooks for easier transport and I‘d pick books that either don‘t require a lot of concentration and/or are easy to get absorbed in because, for me at least, I have trouble concentrating on reading during trips. 5d

BookHoarder32 @charl08 You make a good point 🤔 additional suitcase for the tbr, check! 😂 5d
BookHoarder32 @shadowspeak17 Thanks! I think I really need to invest in an e-reader ☺️ I'm the same, I know my family's going to want to talk to me and spend time with me, but I can't travel without at least one book 📖 5d
GypsyKat I would definitely bring the book I‘m reading. Then whatever genre I think I might be in the mood for. Ebooks and paperbacks travel nicely. 5d
BookHoarder32 @GypsyKat Thanks! Now I just have to figure out what I'm in the mood for 😂 5d

I've had a reading epiphany 💡- I usually lean towards YA, but now realize it's not about the age of the characters. It's about the angst.

I adored this new Ann Cleeves and Detective Matthew Venn and all his anxiety and self-doubt. I ate it up with a spoon and I want more.

FYI I found this as a Read Now on Netgalley.

Anyone catch Pawn Stars last night?

Rick bought a limited edition, illustrated, signed, and numbered hardcover copy of Game of Thrones (published in 2000, I think - anyone have one?) and 'pawntificated' on how the series is based on The War of the Roses. 🌹

Confession - I totally got my 13 year old niece hooked on the Shatter Me series... then she discovered my Ignite Me copy was only the first 28 pages repeated over and over...

I had no idea 😂 I've only read the first one.

What's the weirdest misprint you've found with a book?

limada I've had an entirely different book printed in the middle of a book. I don't remember which one it is now, but I do still own it.
1mo
BookHoarder32 @limada wow, that's a good one! 1mo
xicanti Mine was a WII novel that abruptly became a contemporary novel about competitive swimmers. I‘d heard there was a twist so at first I thought the action had switched to one of the characters‘ descendants, but I soon realized the swimmers were in a totally different book. I tweeted about it, and the publisher saw, and they sent me a correctly-printed copy even though the misprint was from the library. 1mo
