so-soMeh. Could have done without this novella. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read the original book and I was excited to be back in this world. However, I was outside of the world for too long and didn‘t really remember anyone or what happened. It‘s probably a it‘s me and not you thing.
pickSo often, especially in YA literature, you see main characters reflect the "chosen one" trope, highlighting extraordinary characters changing the world. Riggs creates a different feel with Leopold, who can be the hero just because of who he is. It reminded me that believing in yourself is its own magic.
pickThis book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was not expecting the ending which I love!! 📣
pick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Written in prose, home is not a country is a poignant & moving book about finding yourself & loving yourself. It's about making your life, despite the imperfections, 100% your own. And therein living it without dismay over what could have been & instead simply being proud of who you are & grateful for what is.
Can NOT recommend this book highly enough! (Even the acknowledgement section at the end made me cry. This book was just THAT good.)
