Today‘s Prompt: Dear Diary

I‘m going to pretend like last week didn‘t happen. I don‘t know what sickness I had but it whooped my butt. Anyhow, today‘s prompt is Dear Diary. I don‘t really keep a diary but my notebook and planner are the closest things I have. I keep my whole life in my planner and all of my writing projects in this notebook.

My husband posted my #fallingforfall package today. Things were kinda hectic with having to go out of town and work and everything, but at least it left from a post office that's closer to it's destination, so hopefully it'll get there quicker lol. Also, taking thing opportunity to thank my two youngest for picking out some of the goodies inside. This package was a real group effort lol

The last few months have been a real struggle for all of us. I've had a bit of a rest off the socials, and I'm coming back with a plan.
I take great comfort from connecting with and helping others. I'm thinking of starting a new page called #TheLittensSocietyClub as a means to do just that.
Postage has become too expensive, and I miss all the camaraderie of the card swaps. Ideas include an email check-in, ⬇️

All the authors I met/books signed today at the book festival! So fun!

I volunteer with a non-profit whose mission is to improve literacy by promoting a love of reading. I attended an online volunteer event today in which I learned two things: 1) Many children in the population we serve have never had a new book---until those we give out---due to the expense. 2) In the current political climate, many of the families we serve are afraid to leave their homes, and our programs provide families a safe place to gather. ⬇️

Damn it! The library got me sidetracked again! I was out, and of course had my current read with me. But I needed somewhere to go for about an hour and a half. So, my husband said, go to the bookstore! Or go to the library you haven‘t been in yet! And that, dear friends, is what got me. There were so many I wanted to check out. So many! The anxiety I feel to get through the now stack of 8, so I can get back to my shelves…🤓🤯📖📚

I read 12 books in August somehow even with teaching. 🤯 It was a pretty good month too. 🥰💛

I found a series of episodes from different podcasts about these horrible Fundamentalist Christian ‘comics‘ that were passed around like candy when I was a kid. They were scary even though I don‘t think I believed the content. They were and still are, traumatizing. When and if I find them these days😩, I throw them away quickly. We do not care that you wanted to start your holiday weekend early so you preemptively locked all time sheets before the end of the work day. Those of us who work after your weekend started and couldn't log our time would very much like our full pay this pay period.

At least we don't rely on this one paycheck for basic expenses. Others might not be so fortunate.
