AnnCrystal Ravens and Crows have a bad reputation.

Well it's true that some people use their Medicines for bad, or their form is used by those who are negative (like Skinwalkers or daemons), the true essence of Ravens and Crows are not evil.

Many Native American Indigenous tribes hold Ravens and Crows in high esteem for various reasons.

A Trickster personality with powerful “good“ Medicine.

AnnCrystal Understandably, these birds are naturally weary of humans...and if betrayed, Ravens and Crows do not easily forgive.

Yet, be friendly by not angrily chasing them away, adding the larger nuts to your bird feeder, or humming a delightful song whenever you see one of these birds could begin earning you friendship...not just with the ones you personally encounter, but with Ravens and Crows for miles around and generations of them to come.

AnnCrystal Because these birds share information about both foes and friends with each other and with their offsprings.

So, if you begin being nice to your neighborhood Ravens and Crows...DON'T try to pet them or feed them by hand...just be “nice“ and you may earn their friendships.

Ravens and Crows can sense energies, they are drawn by energies.

It's one of the things that give these birds a bad reputation. Good or bad energies, they are drawn by it.

AnnCrystal If you are feeling lonely, invisible, depressed, or sad... sometimes local Ravens or Crows will fly over to lend you some of their medicines. And if you are lucky enough, they will share their greatest of medicines by giving some good natured humor or by Ravens gifting the sound of their laughter.

They also want to celebrate with you, or just check up on you and say hello...so always keep an eye out.

Ravens and Crows are simply amazing, smart, creative birds. It was years before I heard the laugh of a Raven in real life, it overjoyed me with utter delight.

It was scary this last weekend. It seemed the pieces on the chess board had been strategically positioned... remains scary out there, yet Thankfully none of the fears of kingship or martial law was officially announced. 🙏🏼🇺🇸✌🏼.

It is easy to believe that hatred has become mainstream, something I “suddenly“ have to constantly remind myself not to believe.

We spent the day trying to avoid feeding our anxieties...then my mom began watching Captain Courageous (1937)...which caught my interest too...and the next thing you know we were both in tears 😭😭...dang good movie was a tear jerker 😂🎬💝. Our day was peaceful.

Did I Blink? 🙏🏼🐻💝.

Well, that was a terrible conclusion to a stressful day!

I had always loved how my neighborhood was a mix of cultures and religions... beautiful.

Today, was the first time we felt in the minority...literally.

The way we were stared at with hostility. Scrutinized.

I fully expected to be asked for my ID, or to see the return of Jim Crow signs.

My mom and I are American Indigenous! Our ancestors were here before America!

AnnCrystal P.S. Artist tip: unlike pens, I find that crayons become delightful to use in the summertime 🖍️💝. I wouldn't purposely warm them, but natural summer warmth makes them creamy against the paper 😉👌. 1w

AnnCrystal @dabbe love, love crayons 🤩🖍️, they are wonderful and incredible magic 🪄🖍️. I use paper stumps or Tortillons to smooth surface and one of my wooden, clay sculpting tools along with a paint brush to remove extra wax buildup and sweep it aside 😉🖍️💝. (edited) 1w

AnnCrystal @dabbe 😂 sorry 🤗, I do that too often.

Paper stumps or Tortillons are just tightly rolled paper in the shape of a pencil. It comes in handy to smudge or blend pencil, charcoal, pastel sticks, crayons etc.

You can also use an eraser, you just have to apply light pressure. Or one of those makeup spongy wedges.

The wooden, clay sculpting tool is to carefully lift up extra wax buildup. You can use a toothpick or anything that will work for you. (edited) 1w

AnnCrystal @julieclair 🥳 my favorite is crafting them into little people by adding Wiggle eyes or making a clay sculpted head. OR making indoor chimes, adding the pencils with other upcycled bits to create theme. Give to dolls I make. If I make sure four are the same size, they make great legs, columns, or fence posts for miniatures.

It was awful. These agitators trapped some Peace Officers under a bridge on a freeway, throwing boulders, fireworks, and other stuff at them (at least three Police cars were vandalized). They threw fireworks at Police Horses. They set bonfires and murdered trees. They called self-driving cars and destroyed them.

Learned about Rough Haiku from @dabbe on @Jari-chan Haiku post.

Did some research and had to give it a try.

Went with a 5-5-5 to tie in with my Haiku's theme. 555 for the fictional phone numbers used in movies and TV.

AnnCrystal My long history of Movie/TV crushes all began soon after I learned how to read...my mom used silent movies to teach me and I discovered Rudolph Valentino 😍🎬💝.

His phone number would probably have more closely resembled, “Pennsylvania 6-5000“ but that's beside the point 😂. 2w

There was a news story about this today, and I found it perplexing.

As one who was lucky to have storytime in my childhood, this makes me...sad? Worried.

As an adult, those early experiences with books adds to the coziness of reading as I unconsciously reminisce...

AnnCrystal About those times during the few short years I had with my brother, when I would snuggle up at his side and he would wrap a protective arm around my shoulders as we journeyed into the stories he made up using the illustrations from a storybook. If the story became too scary (big brother found that funny), one tattletale shout to our mommy would set the story back in the right direction 😂.

AnnCrystal Our mom always made time to read to me (and my brother when he was young). Patiently rereading my favorite books over and again. Even read to me silent movies, which she used to teach me how to read 📘🎭🍿.

AnnCrystal Storytime nourished my imagination in a way that modern television alone could not have, because the TV does all the work.

Perhaps this isn't such a big issue...

Eggs Doesn‘t seem right for human development 😥Babies, even in utero, hear our words and stories. As little ones they associate reading with love and affection, imagination, playfulness, and empathy. Why would we deprive future generations of that… 2w

JenlovesJT47 I keep meticulous track of all the books I read to Jace. We read 800+ books together last year. He‘s 7 and is not great at math but he sure loves to read and spell things! 💛🖤💛 2w

My mom compelled my dad to read to me once or twice...however, my dad never wanted to spend quality time with my brother nor I. My dad's idea of watching me while my mom cooked dinner was seating me on the sofa and telling me not to move or make a peep until dinnertime. This was the year of IEPs. As an Education Specialist for the RSP program, I conduct at least 40 IEPs in a school year. This year topped it off: 52 IEPs. And many of them were high profiles with lawyers. So yes, I am sooooo happy and thrilled to have held my last one today for the school year. 🙌
