Happy Monday, littens! πππ
I am only about 200 pages into this one, because I am purposefully reading at a slower pace than usual - I want this book to last! I am absolutely enthralled. It's so so good! #catsoflitsy #chaplin
For being 500 years before the PotOT, it connects incredibly well. Like wow. The wyrms have come, it‘s the Sorrowful Years, a story we know from PotOT. That is usually difficult to portray, but not here. This story followed the firsts direction as a feminist queer fantasy. Felt like more dragons. As an epic again: 846 pages that have much, yet not enough. I felt for Dumai and Glorian the most, how they both affect the PotOT in the future.

Continued Count of Monte Cristo
Finished Jonathan Swift The Reluctant Rebel
Made progress on A Day of Fallen Night & The Making of Oliver Cromwell
So excited to have met THE Samantha Shannon! Author of Priory of the Orange Tree, Day of Fallen Night, and the Bone Season series (which goes straight onto my to read list) π
Today I went to see Samantha Shannon in conversation with Francesca May and it was AMAZING!!!!!
This is a truly unflattering picture of me, but I'm posting it anyway π
She was so interesting and smart and funny and it was great to hear about her inspirations for Roots of Chaos! Can't wait to finish Priory and read the prequel! ππ
Snow day = duvet day with the latest arrivals. New book bliss π
This book is 862 pages of a #chunkster read and I was there for every moment of it. This is a fantasy read that really defines the genre. I LOVED The Priory of the Orange Tree and worried this prequel wouldn't hold up. It did and more to be honest. πππππ read.
I have been so looking forward to this and it‘s gorgeous
Screaming, crying, throwing up with joy! Not really, but you know what I mean! π The day is finally here! THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE PREQUEL IS HERE AND IT IS 880 PAGES OF GLORIOUSNESS! Who else is totally excited that this book is finally here?! πππ
It‘s here, it‘s beautiful, I have to finish my current read before I can start it π
#weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
Continue Count & Swift
Finish The Darkness.
However, the tagged book releases on Tuesday, and as I loved The Priory of the Orange Tree I have a feeling I'll be dropping all my other books to read that!
Looking at GR, I‘m one of only a handful of people panning this book. But after attempting to connect with it for six weeks and 55 percent of the book, I‘m tapping out. Here‘s why. I didn‘t connect with or enjoy more than one character. That one character only makes up a small portion of the book. The writing is ponderous, lugubrious, and dull. I‘ve considered DNFing since about 20%. Around 25% I started to think the pace β¬οΈ
Turns out I can remember one #tripleplay π

This is a prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree, which may turn out to be my top read of 2022, so to say I'm looking forward to it is a massive understatement!
