Cinfhen What held it back from being 5 stars?!?? 10mo
jenniferw88 @Cinfhen I did really enjoy it but giving 5 stars to books that deal with tough subject matters doesn't sit right with me. (If that makes sense). Xx 10mo
Cinfhen Yeah! I totally get that 🙌🏻♥️ 10mo

A pair of 6 inch Christian Louboutin heels takes center stage in this fast paced tale of how just one thing can suddenly change everything. Nisha is the wife of an extremely successful businessman and her life is filled with luxury, until her husband decides to divorce her. She must use her wits to survive. A mix up at a gym causes her to lose her precious bag and shoes. Sam now mistakenly has the bag. Fast paced. Women support women.

Cinfhen Ohhh, this actually sounds really fun #stacked 11mo

Meshell1313 Yes! Totally agree that it was not as good and I had my favorite storyline. In Priory I loved them all. Have you read her other stuff? I‘m thinking of starting the Bone Season series. 12mo
jenniferw88 @Meshell1313 not yet, but I'm also thinking about trying it. 12mo

This is the conclusion to The Anatomy duology. I've enjoyed both books. In this one Hazel ends up as the private surgeon of the princess Charlotte, whose sickness so far no one has been able to cure.
Loved the ending 🩷

Goodrich sets out on three separate biking trips to navigate close to Underground Railroad routes in the United States - these would be paths taken by enslaved peoples seeking freedom from slavery. Part travelogue, part history, and part a look at the Blues music genre, this was fascinating. I learned a bit about lesser known stories of courage and sacrifice. In a way, it‘s also a look at poverty in the US and its ties to racism. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️My only issue with this book was the chronology of events…Goodrich kind of takes readers backwards in his biking journeys, starting with the most recent first but yet referring to prior bike rides that are covered in later chapters. It didn‘t work as a narrative for my linear way of thought, but that could be just me. Overall, this is a great way to learn just a small bit about the extraordinary men & women who risked so much to save others. 12mo

An excellent reflection of life with an eating disorder. But it‘s also much more. For example, Kazdin investigates aspects of the weight loss industry. She also dives into common emotions most women feel about their bodies. It‘s a multi-faceted and thought-provoking book.

I thought this was a fun murder mystery. (I do question what it says about me that I can so easily put fun and murder next to each other in a sentence ?.) Ernest joins his family in a reunion of sorts at a ski lodge as they wait for his newly released from prison brother to arrive. There is lots of family drama à la Knives Out. It may have wrapped up too easily, but it worked for me and I only had it partially figured out. I will read the next ⬇️

TheBookHippie I enjoy The Godfather immensely 🖤 it‘s so calming 🤣😅 13mo
Bookzombie @TheBookHippie Yep, totally get it! 13mo
batsy Oh, man. I get way too much enjoyment out of murder mysteries. I try not to think about what it means 😂 13mo

“Perhaps one day… there will be a safer time, when women could walk the Earth, shining bright with power, and yet live.”

I adored this witchy tale about the strength women can possess within when they allow themselves to find it. It weaves 3 stories over 4 centuries, and I loved the way it all came together, especially in the second half of the book.

LaraReads @LeeRHarry yes! So gorgeous! And it rarely happens that the US covers are better than the UK ones, but this one wins! 13mo
Cinfhen I‘m so put off on witchy tales since reading When women could Fly but this book sounds & looks great!!!! I might have to #BorrowNotBuy (edited) 13mo
Cinfhen LOVE your photo ♥️Hope you‘re feeling better!!! 13mo
squirrelbrain @cinfhen - I read the two books almost at the same time, and this one is NOTHING like The Women Could Fly. (ie it‘s fabulous!) 🤣 13mo

15/23 This one went through a bit of a slump 3 hours from the end, but then picked back up and ultimately I enjoyed it. It was creepy but what I was really interested in was the family relationships. The characters did all the normal stuff you should never do in a horror movie 🙄 but as this is written like a movie that fits. I liked the ending which is high praise for me 😂 Reading for #booked23 #newin2023

AmyG I am listening now and I am enjoying the brother/sister dynamic. Waiting for all the creepy stuff to kick in. 14mo
tonymp You are so right, the characters don't seem to have their wits about them. It made it funnier for me. Dark humor never disappoints me! 14mo
