#WinterReadathonDailyChallenge #ChristmasDecorations as they‘re described in Little Women always reminded me of holidays growing up Jewish. There are a few minor holidays that included physical decorations (sometimes including Hanukkah) but religious holidays (like Christmas was for far more people in the time of this book) were mostly marked by big feasts and fancy tables. @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES

Andrew65 Love this quote ❤️❤️❤️ 1mo

MoonWitch94 @IndoorDame it really is filled with so many. 🤩 1mo
MoonWitch94 @IndoorDame I grew up Catholic (no longer practicing that‘s for sure) and I always thought that my Jewish friends were celebrating their holidays in a much better fashion: less pomp & circumstance, but actually focusing on the traditions & meanings of the holidays with family & friends. I always admired & was drawn to it. 💙 Happy Hanukkah, btw! (If you‘re celebrating) 1mo
IndoorDame @MoonWitch94 Thank you 🙏! I dip in and out of the traditions these days, but I‘m planning to do something to mark the holiday this week. I think Judaism is pretty varied, like any religion, but there is definitely a lot of focus on tradition and family running through all the denominations. 1mo
TheBookHippie The foodie in me❤️ it‘s interesting my kids always say holidays by the food we eat. My friends as well about me, there is a warmth to it. Simplicity of looking forward to latkes and cinnamon bread pudding, homemade applesauce made with redhots. I think simple is so much better, must be the hippie in me. The thing most looked forward to here are the poems I write for each person for Christmas Eve. ❤️✍🏼📝 1mo
TheBookHippie @IndoorDame the book is filled with quotes that make you all warm & fuzzy inside. 1mo
IndoorDame @TheBookHippie I so love the idea of your poem tradition! Of course that also resonates with the image of a Little Women Christmas ✍🏼🎁❤️ 1mo
IndoorDame @TheBookHippie warm and fuzzy is the perfect descriptor! I don‘t read this every year, but every couple. I‘m thinking this winter I‘m due for a reread 1mo
TheBookHippie @IndoorDame I find it very grounding this time of year. 1mo

This book was published in 1868, and is considered one of the first books for children. This book follows four sisters; Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy in their journey of growing up. This is a great book, and I would definitely recommend it, however I am not sure if I would use it in my classroom, because it is very long and a bit difficult to understand in today's world.

A personal takeaway from this book was how interesting it was how the author was able to take all of the different girls and make them all very different from each other but also show how important they were for each other and how all of the different characters types complemented each other. I think that the way that this author wrote the book in a way that is very similar to how it would happen in real life is interesting.

Really lovely book, the March sister's bond was so great to see, it was so heartwarming that it felt like you belonged to that family too.
They were so nice to everyone around them and it was so cute to see them treat Laurie like family after finding out he felt lonely because his only company was his “uptight” grandpa.
The sister's character development was great but I‘m very biased towards Amy because she had the best one and she is a cutie.

quote
roronoazoro

"She feels it in the air - love, I mean - and she's going
very fast. She's got most of the symptoms - is twittery
and cross, doesn't eat, lies awake, and mopes in corners.
I caught her singing that song he gave her.”

The first #chunksterchallenge of the year, thanks to everyone who showed me these challenges!
I‘m excited and nostalgic to read this, as the last time I cracked it open was elementary school. It‘s not the biggest book I own, but it‘s step one of the year as I get back into disciplined reading

tokorowilliamwallace Can't wait to see what other challenges you get involved in! Did you make your #roll100 and #bookspin #doublespin lists yet? 12mo
paperwitchs @tokorowilliamwallace not yet but once I learn what to do I will! 12mo
tokorowilliamwallace @paperwitchs For now just write out two lists: one of 100 books you'd like to read this year, and one (which can change every month if you'd like) of 20 you just have been putting off and really need motivation to finish. @TheAromaofBooks post on #bookspin numbers drawn and bingo board are up today. 12mo

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Welcome to Litsy!! @tokorowilliamwallace tagged you in the February posts for BookSpin & BookSpin Bingo. I have a masterpost about the challenge on my blog (off Litsy) here - https://thearomaofbooks.wordpress.com/bookspin-bookspinbingo-litsy-challenge - feel free to let me know if you have any questions and let me know if you would like to be added to the tag list!! 12mo
paperwitchs Thank you guys so much, sorry I‘m late. I‘ll check it out and probably start in a day or two, it looks like real fun! @TheAromaofBooks @tokorowilliamwallace 12mo
TheAromaofBooks No worries!! I draw new numbers every month (always on the 2nd) so the #BookSpin challenge is very easy to jump in and out of, depending on what is going on with your life. 😁 I added you to the tag list so you'll get tagged in a reminder post a week(ish) before I draw March's numbers, and then you can decide if you want to play along for March!! 12mo

Major score from the Little Free Library near home. I‘ve formed a habit of checking it every day on my way home from work. Most of the time I‘m able to walk away empty handed. This needed to come home with me. I haven‘t spotted a copyright date on it, but it‘s definitely old and well-loved. 👯‍♀️😍

Well I FINALLY finished! I started reading this in January of 2020 after utterly falling in love with the movie. It‘s been a weird read. The book was a lot longer than i thought. I also found it both boring and not boring enough, which was annoying. I read it on kindle, it wasn‘t dull enough to get me to sleep, but it certainly wasn‘t one I got a great deal of enjoyment reading either. I am forever and always a fan of the movie, however! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
