#fearfulfall playlist 2 of 2! I realise the sleepy hollow soundtrack should be in the other one, but I saved that one for songs I knew well!

#ScarathlonDailyPrompts #Day18 #Orange Catching up on the daily prompts, doing it now as I have to do a sleep apnea test tonight and will be wired up like Frankenstein‘s Monster! I chose this for Orange as the Horseman has an orange pumpkin for a head🎃And the title is orange! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
Thought it would be wise to familiarize myself with Irving Washington‘s classic before I start our #FearfulFall book - The Horseman. This was ok and my favorite use of a literary pumpkin 🎃 😁🧡 Light pick

This is the fifth year in a row that I‘ve listened to Tom Mison‘s narration of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and I think this is the most I‘ve enjoyed it. I must be in just the right mood for all things Sleepy Hollow. I find the story entertaining (thanks Disney!) and Mison‘s narration is delightful.

My Fall/Halloween vibes collage! I like it cozy, with a little bit of magic, a little bit of spook, classic movies, lots of dying leaves and lots of books!
Audible gave me a free copy of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” ages and ages ago, and I finally listened to it today on the first chunk of a good, long #audiowalk. The story was just okay, which I expected from my previous attempts to read it, but the walk was great. I went 6.25 miles, drank a free coffee, bought cheap butter, and found a ninjabread person cookie cutter at the thrift store! Whee!
Thanks to my #HHS package from @Littlewolf1 , I finally got to read this classic. I loved the Disney version as a kid. There was some unnecessary racism, which probably shouldn‘t surprise me. Otherwise it‘s a fun spooky classic. #Screamathon @4thhouseontheleft
Look at the super cute pillow covers @Littlewolf1 got me for #HauntedHallowSwap ! I love them! Thanks again, Crystal!! 🥰 #HHS @wanderinglynn
I included The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in my Halloween Classics post, but I‘ve never actually read it. So I decided it was time to change that. It was shorter than I realized. And I was shocked to find out that Ichabod isn‘t really a likable character. But I definitely know why it‘s a classic. It gave me the creeps.

Finally got around to reading this classic. After watching various adaptations of the tale, it's nice to learn the real ending of Ichabod Crane.

I can see why this would have been so popular for its time, but for me, it was just okay. A quick listen though. #classic

Halloween is such a nostalgic holiday for me. And there are certain books that just capture that Halloween feeling perfectly. So I made a cute little graphic to keep in my bullet journal. Some I‘ve read and some I want to read.
If you want a copy of this bullet journal insert you can find it here : https://wildwoodreads.com/2021/10/05/halloween-classics-printable-reading-journa...
If you decide to use it feel free to tag me! 😊
This morning I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as part of week 1 #Screamathon prompt #ScarePairs
Hoping I can watch one of the adaptations later in the week ☺️

Once again having only watched movie versions of a book I was surprised at how short the story was. Really enjoyed it. Another book read for #AwesomeAugust @Andrew65 although, once again it was not one of the books I listed as one of my book goals🤣
I've never read this, and I'm glad the #ChildrensClassicRead2021 for July gave me the opportunity! A fun slice of cheesy Gothic "horror" that was less scary than I expected but still pretty atmospheric and gripping. I would have liked more of the Headless Horseman, though ??
@TheBookHippie
The first is an adaptation of "The Wind in the Willows", and the second is a creepy re-telling of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Both stories have enjoyed lasting impacts, and the scary "Sleepy Hollow" segments remain compelling bits of animation that have more than enough power to unsettle modern audiences.

JULY #ChildrensClassicRead2021
Let‘s see if I get spooked like an eight year old 💀🐎
Anyone welcome to read a long with us!
I am thinking that I should have oatmeal and warm apple juice to eat and drink while I read my first bit to relive summer camp 🏕
@TheBookHippie so this is my copy of Sleepy Hollow… will we be reading all of the stories, or just that one?

Next up #CHILDRENSCLASSICREAD2021 JULY
Why July? A young counselor would read this to us a long long long time ago when I was at summer camp -to try to freak us out - and I‘ve never read it myself. So here it goes!
Anyone welcome to read along. I read little snippets with my morning coffee and it‘s become a sacred time for me these last few years I‘ve done this.
I'm currently reading The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel, based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Since I've never read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I decided to check it out on Serial Reader. When I found it on Serial Reader, I was surprised that it was only 5 "episodes." I thought it was a book, and never realized it was a short story. Who knew?! ? So, I read it during lunch today.

Day 17: Johnny Depp
One of my favorite actors!
I saw the movie when I was a kid and it was insta-love!
Same with the short story that I just read.
It's still creepy but not scary as it is in the Burton's masterpiece ❤

Read book in 2004 and listened to the Audible adaptation in 2020.
Originally published in 1820 and still creepy today.

Watched this last night...I remembered liking it better, but was distracted by all the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton quirks this time around. Was this the last moment in Depp‘s career before he fully committed to being Captain Jack Sparrow 24/7? I hate when movies show people hanging outside in the snow without warm clothing. Not believeable, even in 1799.

Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite Halloween flicks!
Hubie Halloween was cute, but if you‘ve never seen other Adam Sandler movies, you might not catch all the tributes to his other films.
Dracula Untold was very disappointing. Not recommended.

I listened to this last night. I didn‘t realize it was written in 1820, which explains some of the archaic language used. I loved the descriptions of the Hudson River, Tarrytown, the Tappan Zee, etc. When I was a teen I started working for a think tank in Irvington-on-Hudson every summer through part of college. On our first trip there we stayed in Tarrytown and toured Irving‘s land and home. To hear the descriptions made me “homesick.”
I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Young Goodman Brown. Both Halloween classics, and excellent every time I read them 😈 🐍 🎃 🐎
I‘m also arguing Young Goodman Brown takes place on Halloween from a line his wife says, though it‘s not %100 confirmed she means it‘s Halloween (but I mean he meets the devil sooo)

I thoroughly enjoyed this classic short story. The tree where the Americans hanged Major Andre is mentioned. I also have a nonfiction that I will also be reviewing and then I will watch the Disney version.

Felt good to tick off this American Halloween classic! I didn‘t know any spoilers at all as I‘d never encountered the story before. I‘d have liked to skip past some of the descriptions to the actual creepy stuff a bit myself, but I‘m very glad to have read it and I did enjoy it.
I‘m gonna count this as a Halloween book for #scarathlon2020 unless that isn‘t allowed? +26 #teamharkness @StayCurious @Sace
Just a nice little Halloween bedtime story ❤️
Day Two of #Scarathlon2020 and again I‘m delving into Halloweens past for a classic tale. I love the melody of the names in this gothic story: Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Baltus Van Tassel, Brom Bones, and the horse Gunpowder. #TeamSlaughter #CYOReadathon
For a short story, it's kind of funny how many pages went on about the community that Ichabod Crane had moved to - pages and pages describing the people, the homes, hills and meadows before finally getting to the people which are described with equal detail. What's funnier is that for as long as I can remember this has been depicted as a ghost or even horror story but it's a character driven love story?!?
Much love to @SerialReader
