Interview with the Vampire
Interview with the Vampire | Anne Rice
Here are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly erotic, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing forcea story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write. The Vampire Chronicles continue in Prince Lestat. Look for a special preview in the back of the book.Praise for Interview with the Vampire A magnificent, compulsively readable thriller . . . Rice begins where Bram Stoker and the Hollywood versions leave off and penetrates directly to the true fascination of the myththe education of the vampire.Chicago Tribune Unrelentingly erotic . . . sometimes beautiful, and always unforgettable.Washington Post If you surrender and go with her . . . you have surrendered to enchantment, as in a voluptuous dream.Boston Globe A chilling, thought-provoking tale, beautifully frightening, sensuous, and utterly unnerving.Hartford CourantFrom the Paperback edition.

5⭐️ Forgot to post on this the other day but of course it‘s a five star from me. The introduction into the vampire chronicles is everything along with meeting Lestat for the first time. Just a classic.

I originally read the Vampire Chronicles as a teenager and fell in love. With the recent passing of Anne Rice I decided to revisit the vampires of my youth. I love the book as much now as I did the first time. Reading it felt a bit like visiting old friends.

Ann Rice was an author who impacted my life in more ways then one. Her creative and macabre style of writing gave me the desire and fight I needed to overcome dyslexia so that I could read her books. I‘m sure you are all aware she past on the 11th of last month. So I plan to reread the Vampire Chronicle this year for her memory if anyone would like to join me. Will be reading book 7 & 8 in July to get all 13 done by December.

Saddened by the news of Anne Rice‘s death. INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE is one of the few books I‘ve read multiple times. I recently reread it again for the first time in many years and was still awed by what she created. I think you can rightfully argue that every modern vampire work written since it‘s release owes a debt to Anne Rice. Her vampires even influenced those in my “Gidion Keep, Vampire Hunter” novels. #RIPAnneRice

As a teen, the first author I became a fan of was Stephen King. And then came Anne Rice. I still have the hardcover editions of some of her books (I loaned out Interview to someone and never got it back which is why it‘s missing!). I also still have the handwritten family tree I created to help me keep track of all those Mayfair witches!
Thank you for all those wonderful stories!

These are my favorite Anne Rice books. I never continued the Lestat series and was surprised to hear there are 13 books in the series. Ironically I just donated the Rice books I still owned to my local library sale. They sat on my shelf for years but I‘d be looking at them now if I still had them.

Good Morning Littens... I just woke up about a half hour ago to the sad news of Anne Rice's passing. I'm not sure how many people know, but I am a vampire lover. Those were the first kind of books I dove into. Sadly I haven't read any of Rice's book (yet... #PLC has IWTV slated for March through April), but I loved the movies. Queen of the damned is one of my favorites and the soundtrack is amazing. More in comments. ⬇️

AkashaVampie I wish her family and friend peace at this difficult time. This makes me want to hug all my loved ones and never let them go. Make sure to tell everyone that u love them becuz they might not be there tomorrow. #RipTheQueenOfVampires #SadDayForBookworms 1mo

Her characters were bigger than life and she gave new depth to the old tales like Pandora, even if the actual writing wasn‘t the best. Give me a great character any day. (edited) 1mo

A little heartbroken this morning 💔 Actors and authors aren't generally people we have known but we get to know them through their work and Anne was loved in my home. Ok, I didn't adore the Sleeping Beauty series but no one does vampires like the Queen! Such a sad day for the book community 😪

This was not a bad book by any means but I confess I‘m a little disappointed. It‘s so...bleak — for lack of a better word. It‘s long with no chapter breaks which made it a bit of a slog at times. The best way I know of putting it is that it‘s beautifully written but somewhat boring. I will say that I am excited to watch the movie again. I haven‘t seen it since I was a kid. 3⭐️

I usually dislike reading a famous book after having seen the famous movie. But I figured 20 or so years between gave me enough space. LOL. In fact, I was able to envision my own characters and not think of Brad Pitt the entire time.

Why are vampires so sensual? The book was so passionate; love, hatred… you name it. I‘m definitely glad I decided to read it. Although it was dense, my imagination had a blast.

⬆️Amazing. ⛈ drove our book club into a (LOUD) brewery to have a fragmented conversation about this moody, sensual book.🖤d it as a teen (of course) but this time 🖤d the lush descriptions that ~ bored me then. That is what sets it apart: Yes, there‘s intrigue & drama & 🩸, but it is a gorgeous piece of writing, too. A must read for horror fans even if you think you know what it is/have seen the 🎥. Lots of ideas to sink your teeth into. 🧛🏻‍♂️

vivastory I haven't watched the movie or read it in eons. Was thinking about it yesterday. Have you read Martin's Fevre Dream? It's influenced by Interview with etc, but definitely it's own thing 4mo
Michael_Gee @vivastory I have not! I‘m definitely curious about it. Do you like it? 4mo

Missed yesterday, but still wanted to post this one!

MidnightBookGirl Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas in this movie made me long for some sensitive, long haired, gorgeous vampire to come along and rescue me from high school. I remember being upset over the casting of Tom Cruise, probably because Anne Rice was unhappy, and while I don't think he looked like Lestat, he did a good job. And you know, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas were enough to make me love the movie adaptation of the book. 5mo
Tera66 @MidnightBookGirl Yeah, Tom Cruise wasn't a great casting choice, and I also wanted a long haired, sexy vampire to swoop me up. I remember doing a project with this book, a kind of book report thing. 5mo

Ive never read it so I have no opinions whether this will be good or not

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I‘m a big fan of the books and the original film, so this makes me half excited and half nervous. So far the names attached make great entertainment, but I‘m not sure their styles suit the story. It will be interesting to see who they cast. The original film has some heavy hitters that definitely left their marks on the characters. Lestat especially will be hard to do better than Cruise, he practically IS Lestat. 😅 7mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I agree. Also Kirsten Dunst she blew me away in that role. I might be too nervous to watch this. 7mo
