“We got the #spell exactly right. Except for the ingredients. And most of the poetry. And it probably wasn‘t the right time. And Gytha took most of it home for the cat, which couldn‘t of been proper.” #QuotsyOct19

I spent some time at my local library after my shift today, and I found some great options for all the #Scarathlon events. 4/6 of these are directly related to Halloween, and the remaining 2 fall within the #TeamSlaughter themes! 👻🎃☠️

“This cat, on the other hand, was its own animal. All cats give that #impression, of course, but instead of the mindless animal self-absorption that passes for secret wisdom in the creatures, Greebo radiated genuine intelligence. He also radiated a smell that would have knocked over a wall and caused sinus trouble in a dead fox.” Paul Kidby illustration. #QuotsyJuly19
“Destiny was funny stuff, he knew. You couldn‘t trust it. Often you couldn‘t even see it. Just when you knew you had it cornered, it turned out to be something else—coincidence, maybe, or providence. You barred the door against it, and it was standing behind you. Then just when you thought you had it nailed down it walked away with the hammer.” #destiny #QuotsyJuly19
Apparently books make very good pillows! 😍😻📚💕 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten

2) reaching all my #BFC goals
3) Indian - great variety
4) had two, they died in a fire around Christmas 15 years ago
#hellothursday @wanderinglynn
1) favourite at the moment, the pin I got from @Mitch. I wear it nearly every day.
2) my witch, which is covering up a previous witch tattoo. Both inspired by my love for Esme Weatherwax ? (tagged book)
3) a scarf with the text of a book on
4) bookmarks
5) no preferences, I like @BookishMarginalia's "goes postal" swaps
“There are thousands of good reasons why magic doesn‘t rule the world. They‘re called witches and wizards, Magrat reflected...It was probably some wonderful organization on the part of Nature to protect itself. It saw to it that everyone with any magical talent was about as ready to cooperate as a she-bear with toothache, so all that dangerous power was safely dissipated as random bickering and rivalry.” #rival #QuotsyMar19
I just saw this on FB. Looks like only the three will be released in this format for now. What do you think of these covers Pratchett fans? I don‘t care for them myself. Here are the preorder links:

“The storm was really giving it everything it had. This was its big chance...Now an opening in the #weather had given it an opportunity to strut its hour, and it was building up its role in the hope of being spotted by one of the big climates.” #QuotsyFeb19
This was a slow burn at first, but by the end I found it to be one of the more amusing of the Discworld series. Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg are charmingly eccentric and the plot was just fun once it got going. A lot of the humor put me very much in the mind of Monty Python, and Shakespeare references are obviously always going to be my cup of tea. A fun time.
Finished last night. Despite the entertaining toying with Macbeth, this book just doesn‘t work for a really long time. It took me two tries to get through that. At some point the scene shifts, or maybe it was just the orangutan librarian swinging life back in, anyway that charm unique to Discworld kicked in and suddenly it‘s a great book, or a great ending to a not-great read, or something. Thanks @jmofo for motivating my 2nd try.
“But milk jugs don‘t just drop out of the sky,” said Tomjon, demonstrating the astonishing human art of denying the obvious.

It‘s taken almost two hundred pages, but the book does find that Discworld charm.
#audiocooking @Graywacke I am so glad Weatherwax is in this book. The bit about her having to do the facts of life talk was classic.

“I hate cats."
Death's face became a little stiffer, if that were possible. The #blue glow in his eye sockets flickered red for an instant.
"I SEE," he said. The tone suggested that death was too good for cat haters. "YOU LIKE GREAT BIG DOGS, I IMAGINE.” #QuotsyDec18 image: Paul Kidby
“Humans had built a world inside the world, which reflected it in pretty much the same way as a drop of water reflected the landscape....Inside this little world they had taken pains to put all the things you might think they would want to escape from — hatred, fear, tyranny, and so forth. Death was intrigued. They thought they wanted to be taken out of themselves, and every art humans dreamt up took them further in...” #theater #QuotsyNov18
Y'all, my sister joined Litsy today! @AmCow needs Litsy friends!
Amber, some of my favorites to follow are @ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress @Kayla.Adriena @TheReadingMermaid @MinDea @UnidragonFrag @CaliforniaCay and so many more, I know I'm leaving tons out!
The only book I finished on vacation! This was my second Pratchett, and I loved it!
A brief "wossname" of the plot? Macbeth and the power of words. A very powerful story with plenty of witty, caustic humor.
Double Double Toil and Trouble,
Mix the cauldron and watch it bubble....??

So I have signed up for #librarything. I have imported my books. I have looked at my books. And on the right, what did I see? This box.
@Riveted_Reader_Melissa - are you surprised? 😁
We are definitely #booksisters 🤗
Esme "Granny" Weatherwax is a #BlackMagicWoman. That is, her dress was black once back when she first donned it... ?
#OctoberXFiles @Robothugs @Cinfhen
The witches are still my favorite, and I love that Death got a turn on the stage as well. This was the perfect read for Oct. & for right after reading with the #ShakespeareReadAlong. Pratchett does such a great job at paying homage to and sending up both Shakespeare himself, his witches, and both the Disney & Grimm varieties, that all looks so effortless especially when combined with these wonderful characters.

“Double Hubble, stubble trouble, Fire Burn and cauldron bub-“
I‘m so glad I put off reading this one, it‘s perfect right after my re-read of MacBeth with #ShakespeareReadAlong Great timing even if it was completely by accident 😂
#OokBookClub
You tell them Esme! Don‘t push too far, because eventually we will push back!

I‘m really feeling these witches today.#ImWithHer You show them Esme!

So many bookmarks, and here I am using a receipt...
Also, highly recommend the app My Reading: Reading Organizer. Keeps track of what you're reading, and how many pages you need to finish it by your goal (or vice versa, how long itll take if you read X pages per day). You can also take notes in it, but I prefer to write in my books.
It's finally starting to cool off out here, which means two things:
1) time to turn on the radiators
2) time to curl up on the couch with a blanket
Right on track to finish Wyrd Sisters by the end of October. Great read so far.
Starting this one tonight, part of my #OokBOokClub backlog.
And what a great start...it reminds me of something else I recently read, right #ShakespeareReadAlong group 😉
Had this on my shelf for a few months, finally got the chance to start it! Great choice for October, I think. I've been itching for more Discworld. Now that I've finished up everything else I was reading, it's time to start on some #witchyreads 🐱🐝🔮
This is my #witchyTBR 🕸🕷🎃 It's a short stack, but I'm excited for it! I don't know if any #blackcats make an appearance in it, but one does on my placemat. 😄

Of the deluge of #discworld paperbacks that were donated to the library, I snagged these: four beloved favorites and three that I haven‘t yet read—for $7.50. I left the rest for the next book sale because these babies are rare in the States. #pratchett #ookbookclub #bookhaul
Hey #OokBOokClub! My apologies for totally dropping the ball on the discussion. @julesG set up a discussion thread, so I‘m going to highjack her comments on that thread and tag everyone. If you‘ve read the book, please see her post to discuss the book and accept my apologies for slacking this month. 🤦🏻♀️
No idea if this is a good result or not!
I‘ve read precious little Terry Prachett so I‘m not sure if this a good result for me or not 😂

Not sure where this quote originates, but I found this floating around Facebook this morning and just had to share it with my fellow Ook BOok Clubbers. 😂 #ookbookclub
@TricksyTails @DGRachel - you may cut my fingers off for jumping in.
