Finished one book early in the week. I enjoyed the mystery but wish the author would have given the MC a different back story. I was going to DNF Maybe but finally got interested at about 20% and want to know how each of the individual patient arcs wrap up. I have always been interested in Russian history and the Romanovs. Loving Boyne‘s HF on audio set in this time forward to the 80‘s. 8 days til tax seasons over and a couple days off…
Fun, cozy mystery. Loved the main character & will likely read more!

It is a light and fun read. I look forward to the next book in the series. It held my interest and I enjoyed the slow development of the characters who at first seemed rather cliche.
Currently reading Trying to read more fiction. I typically read non-fiction. 😀
Enjoying this cozy so far. Small town, mystery, bookstore, scones, some of my favorite things. One of my reading goals is to read books from my collection with “book*” in the title. It‘s also my #BookSpin # BookSpinBingo #BuzzWordBookathon
Hi Litsy community!! This sweet, wonderful and amazing author has had to start a new IG account. In doing so, she lost approximately 10k followers!
Can we help her out and go follow her on the new page @elleryadamsofficial ?
I know that we can help her rebuild!
Thanks so much!!
First book to check off from the July #bookspin BINGO board is the first book rented from LIBBY. Reads much like a cozy mystery, with a little town, some murders and a dedicated, interesting cast of characters that work hard for justice and an answer against corruption. I loved the setting, and would join the society in a heartbeat. Also, I want to visit that bookstore!! #recentlyread 4.5⭐️ @TheAromaofBooks 📚❤️💙
I liked the plot/characters in this mystery, but there were a few things that bothered me. First, our MC's irritation with her friends. Nora's new friendship pact feels forced at best. Second, several unlikable characters are described as "rotund," as if their being overweight is key to their sour personalities. Diversity is important, but this came across as fatphobic. Third, some of the accents were just too similar when read by the narrator.
My July ♋️🎉 #bookspin BINGO BOARD. Tagged is one of two LIBBY LOANS for the month, and although it‘s neither of the numbers this one is due 🔜 so it‘s where I will start. Thank you random.org for the adventure and @TheAromaofBooks for creating it! #tbr #bookspinbingo
Tonight the #ncbookstagrammers went to a party hosted by @Ellery_Adams ! I am so blessed to be a part of this group and call all of these amazing women friends! It was the first time doing anything since being vaccinated and it was wonderful to feel normal again, talking books with good food and drinks!
This one was a freebie on Hoopla last month. I started the first chapter tonight while working through some laundry and so far I'm having fun with it. I've only read one or two cozy mysteries (isn't that what they're called?) and they were quick and enjoyable reads. I think I'll probably like this one too.
What a fun book! I got it on a whim after seeing it in Libby. I was hooked. It wasn‘t a huge head scratcher, but I loved the friendship and trust that was built in the book. All the women in the book had great personalities and it was refreshing to have a mystery with people who grow close. Great for a cozy evening.
Found a new series!
This is a #blameitonlitsy read & one that I received from a swap. Set near Asheville, NC (both books I‘m reading this weekend are set there), it‘s a cozy mystery about a group of women who become friends while solving a murder & sharing the burdens of their past that they hide from others. The MC is a bookshop owner, so there‘s great book references & love for books. Didn‘t know before that this is 1st in a series, but I will continue it.
“I prefer cinnamon twists over scones because they‘re easier to eat while I‘m reading. That‘s my main priority when it comes to food. Other people are obsessed with calories, nutritional value, antioxidants. I look at food and wonder: Can I eat that without having to put my book down?”
Me too, Nora, me too.
Thank you @Texreader for the #WondrousWednesday tag!🤗
1️⃣ I just read the tagged book by @Ellery_Adams & have the next 2 to read & I have 2 by @theladygreer I need to get to & I‘m probably forgetting someone.🤔
2️⃣ On my food blog http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com
I was good about posting on Goodreads but got out of the habit & sometimes Amazon & Audible.😬
3️⃣ The Charley Davison series by Darynda Jones & any of Gail Carriger‘s series.🙏🏼
This book was a slow burn. It took me awhile to get into it, but then I was hooked. The prose in this book made it feel as if it was written 50+ years ago but then something modern like Harry Potter would be referenced and I would be reminded that this is a fairly recent book (2017). Very different from anything else I have read this year.
Not gonna lie, it‘s pretty cool when an author likes your recipe & Instagram post about their book, follows you & also shares it on their story. Gets me to fangirl every time! 😍🤩🤗
The best of intentions but I still finished this the day before posts for my virtual foodie book club were due.🤷🏻♀️It‘s just been that kind of month.😬 I really enjoyed this 1st book in a food & book filled cozy mystery series (enough so that I got the 2nd & 3rd books on Kindle sales). Nora helps heal peoples‘ souls & hearts through books, Hester through baking comfort scones & they come together with 2 other women to solve a murder. I picked⬇️
I‘ve been a bit MIA this week & I‘m very behind on Litsy posts & life stuff. I may try to catch up on my #PemberLittens posts later on, but I‘m trying to have a semi-relaxing Sunday & make soup & hang out with this guy. Max🐱says he likes it best when his mom is at home for him to (mostly) ignore unless he wants snackies or scritches. Hope you all are having a good Sunday.
#catsoflitsy 😽❤️
Yes, I‘m having apple pie for breakfast—vanilla ice cream so that it hits more of the important food groups.😉The first piece cut is never a pretty one but it is delicious. My friend with a commercial bakery made me a mini pie after I admired her apple pies. (There‘s a pretty picture of the whole pie on my Instagram.) I am so behind on my reading, this one is for foodie book club & due with a recipe on 11/30 & I never even got to #sundaybuddyread
Leftover poke (Hawaiian Ahi, California Roll & Tofu) with jasmine rice was late lunch & early dinner. This book is the Oct/Nov pick for my virtual foodie book club. Trying not to wait until the last week to read & post but I am working on a project this weekend & not too much reading time. It‘s good so far though!
What a great book.... and the best part is, there are 2 more after it! Hahaha. Already in my Shopping cart!😉🤩🤗
What to read, what to read.... these 4 new books came. Used my Birthday gift card. 🤗🤗🤓
The rain stopped here after days and days so I was able to get my #litsybitsy on and finish this today 🎉 It is a delightful listen. A murder mystery tale involving a book club ( where better to find amateur sleuths) and a housing development but no vampires like my last read. I kind of wish I read this in book form because of all the books referenced in it. I‘m pretty sure I have read of the ones mentioned
It‘s a Canadian long weekend and it has started off perfectly weather wise ❤️I went for a walk #litsybitsy first thing while my boys got the remainder patio furniture out, I got the cushions out and now I can read and relax until dinner.
It‘s raining today so I audio baked instead of audio walked #litsybitsy
I surprised myself by liking this book. At first I was a put off by the wooden dialogue and how bookish themes were pushed in the most unnatural way.
Nevertheless, it sucked me in so quickly that I didn't want to put it back down.
Set for the weekend and beyond...
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

This was an enjoyable read during a week when I really appreciated something a bit lighter. The characters were wonderful, and I loved all the literary references. I listened to the audio, although I have the book, in order to find enough time for it this week.
#LitsyBookClub #audiobook
This book so far is a cute book. The title is grammatically incorrect, so that bothers me! It should be, The Secret, And The Book & Scone Society. The photo I found in FB and thought funny!!
Keep practicing Self Distancing & Frequent Hans Washing. ( lol 😂 HAND WASHING). Thanks for the editing advice @Lcsmcat
💗📚💗
There is something special and different about this cozy mystery. The characters have such interesting stories which are revealed slowly. I couldn't have anticipated how much I would be affected by these characters. There's the mystery and then there's also the friendships. I absolutely loved all the literary quotes and books listed in this story. This is the first one in the series and I can‘t wait to continue reading more about the society!
New month, new book! We hope that you will join us in reading this book. Questions? Ask @Bookworm83 or @Graciouswarriorprincess .

Not sure who to attribute this description of the book as “a love letter to literature”, to, but it certainly is just that.Books, books,& more books! 4 newly bonded, strong women suspect a man was pushed to his death. They are determined to find “whodunit”.Mysticism, buried pasts, cats, catnip & yet more books, enhance my experience of this book. Now I want to peruse a copy of the book when I am done for all the literary references!

Please welcome @Ellery_Adams to Litsy! Follow her here now!! She is so sweet and her books are wonderful!
The elegant Ellery Adams from the crime fest today! So excellent to meet her in person since I love her books!
Having fun at McIntyre‘s Books with the Crime Festival discovering new authors along with a favorite one!
The tagged is a fun cozy mystery about 4 women who live in Miracle Springs, NC, a fictional town outside Asheville. Beyond the murder mystery part, this is a lovely story about new friendships, healing, and sharing secrets/learning to trust. Plus, it‘s clear the author is a booknerd because it‘s filled with literary goodies (references and quotes).
Plus, another couple squares on my #fancifulfebruary board!
