Whelp I had big plans to put my home gym together tonight but I am lacking a torque wrench and in no mood to go out and get one. It looks like I'm cracking the wine early and getting started on a new book.

ephemeralwaltz Hi Danielle! I haven't received a #screamsbymail book from you these last months. Just checking in to say I hope everything is OK! Hugs x 1mo
danibolahood @ephemeralwaltz Sorry! I just saw this now. Everything is good! To make a long story short I've had two really big repairs to be made on my house and I've basically funnelled every extra penny I have into trying to pay for them. The good news is they're both done and paid for and Monday is my first paycheque with disposable income again so your package will go out next week! 3w
ephemeralwaltz @danibolahood glad to hear everything is okay!! Don't worry at all. Take care xxx 3w

Book: Are you ready to be scared???
Me: Yes!
Book: Light fixtures! Lamps! Screen doors coming off their tracks!! Did I mention the light fixture? It has burnt out bulbs. Oh also there's people with home made terrifying weapons but they'll just keep having the same conversation for 100 pages don't worry about them - I mean this lamp is round and short.
Me: Can you get on with it already?
Book: No.

Cailey_Mac Omg I‘ve read books like that and I‘m always like 🤦🏻‍♀️ 5mo

This book was the definition of overkill. Pretty much every page was just a different monster with multiple rows of teeth eating someone else. There are multiple places where a new character is introduced just to be eaten by a monster - in the SAME PARAGRAPH. There was barely a story here. It's basically just a bunch of death scenes strung together and they lose their effectiveness very quickly.

My internal monologue for what to read for book 2 of my #24in48.

"Look at all these books I have that I've been dying to read for ages. I will spend the next hour and 15 minutes painstakingly reading the info of every one so I can decide what I feel like."

"It's too hard to decide. Here let me go online and buy myself this random book I think I heard good things about several months ago"

Well I didn't do nearly as well as I hoped today. I couldn't even tell you WHAT I was doing other then reading because it was mostly just me being distracted by shiny things.

Now I'm off to decide what to read next for #24in48

I thought this was a really good psychological thriller even though I wasn't that shocked by any of the twists. I think that's probably a symptom of me having read so many of this type of book. I still love a good unreliable narrator.

Done finally!!! This book is huge and at least 25% of it is unnecessary and mostly boring info dumps but the other 75%?!?! So. Much. Fun. I skipped back and forth between the regular book and audio book but I'm really wishing I'd started the audio book sooner. It is SO well done. I've never really enjoyed audio books before but this one was amazing. Also it let me get 6 more flowers sewn on to my pathetically slow moving quilt project.

This book is taking me soooooooo long to get through. I like it and want to finish but man it bogs down sometimes and it takes me a couple days to pick it back to again. So I'm going to try switching over to audio book so I can listen while quilting and hopefully get through it a bit faster.

Ugh I'm so torn on this one. The plot was fantastic and I could not put it down. I didn't see the twist coming AT ALL and it was done beautifully. It came out of left field and it made sense. However, I could not stand Quincy. It really took away from my enjoyment of the book which sucks because I want to give it 5 stars because I thought it was brilliant but I can't because the main character just did not work for me.

Meh. This had a lot of promise but there was waaaaaay to much unnecessary description. I don't need to know the color of every plate you eat off, which particular farm in Vermont your cheese came from or what year the local hot dog stand opened. I would however have enjoyed some more information on some of the magical leaps of logic Mercy had to jump to in order to solve this one. The dogs were great though.

danibolahood @vkois88 i just realized it's the 3rd book in a series. Do you think it's okay to read as a standalone? I normally can't stand reading books out of order but this one is brand spanking new from the library and I don't want to give it back to get all dirtied up before I can get back to it lol 12mo
vkois88 Lol so you can read them out of order, since it doesn't delve too deeply into the cases from the previous two... but you will jump in to the main character's relationship out of order. If you don't mind that, I'd say go for it. 12mo

Ok my turn! I thought going to a physical book store would make it easier to whittle down my choices vs. having access to the entire internets but I was wrong. I got it down to 9... That's the best I could do so now I need help.

So not even 20 pages ago I'm thinking to myself "pssh this book isn't really that scary so far. I wonder if it's going to pick up". I'm sitting outside in broad daylight, it is not what I would call quiet out here as there is a busy parking lot on the other side of the trees and someone's cell phone goes off. I could not have jumped higher if someone had snuck up behind me and grabbed my shoulders. So yes Danielle. It does pick up.

Jinjer 🤣🤣🤣 1y
