Kill Creek | Scott Thomas
A psychological horror with a literary twist, Kill Creek delivers elevated prose, while evoking the unnerving, atmospheric terror essential to greats like Peter Straub and Stephen Kinga haunting that lingers long after turning the last page.

It was so scary I couldn‘t read a lot at a time. I had to take breaks it was so intense. Four famous authors go to a supposed haunted house for a live interview and what happens after is actually where it all kicks off. At first it was a little slow but then once it got going it didn‘t stop for one second. It‘s going to be a tv show on Showtime and I‘m so amped!!!!!

I really liked this book! Four horror writers agree to do an interview in a haunted house, but the house needs its legend to grow, so it takes matters into its own hands. It was very much a tribute to the genre and kept me entertained. #horror

Quitting 54 pages in. Just too overly descriptive for me to wade through 400 pages when I don't even want to pick it up. Not to mention the 2 of 4 authors I was introduced to in that span of time were just annoying. I was gonna try to make it to at least 100 pages, but I just don't care. Too many books on my TBR for that. Not for me.

This was a fun and creepy book for October. I enjoyed the haunted house theme and the dark story. Also, this really combined the authors of horror stories and their ideas well with the horror story itself. Definitely a good book for this time of year!

Horror no longer goes bump in the night. Horror stuffs the bodies of dead hookers in his crawl space and then pulls a twelve-hour nursing shift taking care of your sick mother. Horror sits in his cubicle and fantasizes about sucking the toes of the high school cheerleader he plans to strangle after work. Horror stays awake at night dreaming up ways to hurt you and your family and everything you hold dear.

This book is why I love horror so much. The story is addicting, terrifying, with perfectly crafted characters and an underlying mystery that you will be desperate to solve. The twist at the end was perfect and unexpected. If you want to be spooked this halloween, definitely read this book! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I‘m torn between so-so and a pick but I‘ll go with pick just because it is a good read for spooky season. It‘s very reminiscent of Stephen King, but without the character development that makes you care what happens to them. Haunted house stories are fun, and this a pretty typical one - a little too predictable though - I was hoping for a good scare and was disappointed.

batsy Yeah! I'm a wimp about horror in general and even I found the ending to be a disappointment. Which surprised me, lol. 1mo

Not bad for a haunted house novel. The story started out gripping and then went through a lull phase that I struggled to get through. The ending was interesting and did have me turning pages quickly. I wish the epilogue had pushed the envelope even more, though. I was left hoping for a little "Moore".

Four well known horror authors visit this notoriously haunted home on Halloween to do an interview. They leave the house but it doesn‘t leave them. This one is delightfully creepy and I quite enjoyed the narrator.

This is a slow-build, creepy story and I think listening to it definitely added to the spookiness. Bernard Setaro Clark did an excellent job of setting the tone and changing voices with each character.

Finished this while making dinner. The narrator was really terrific and the story was a nice twist on the traditional haunted house even if there was some rather excessive descriptions of one of the chatacter's hair and body at the start. Once that calmed down it was a fun ride. #horror #hauntedhouse #audio

Completely not the haunted house book I assumed this would be. I have to admit it took me about 75 pages until I really got into it but once I did, I regretted nothing. What horror lover wouldn‘t enjoy a horror book about horror authors visiting a haunted house? Definitely recommend! Some descriptions are a little brutal but still worth the read.

(2017) Four horror authors spend the evening in a haunted house for an interview with the author of a popular fan blog. If it sounds a little too "House on Haunted Hill," then you're not wrong, but Thomas is very aware of what he's borrowing and what he's doing with it. One of the pleasures of this book is its awareness of its roots, and it makes the creepiness and climactic splatter all the more fun. And what a cover design, yeah?

And with that, I‘m done with another #Spookathon challenge! This is a fun debut haunted house novel. This book has a fun spin on the ideas found in traditional gothic horror. The pacing is excellent and does an excellent job filling the reader with a sense of dread. I‘d give it a solid 4/5. Okay, not Stephen King. I heard a lot of comparisons and I do not agree. A big dose of Shirley Jackson and then a punch in the face to finish it off. It had some creepy moments that I will not give away, one recurring thing had me put the book down and walk away at least 3-4 times. The end though, the end was the business. 2 thumbs up, fun but more gothic than advertised and not out and out horror until the last quarter.

Thomas‘s first novel is a haunted house story with teeth. Besides a novel about a house with a past, Kill Creek is an interesting story about the business of writing. It‘s not difficult to pick real life authors to personify the 4 horror authors here. Most of the book is a gothic horror story, but it ends with a big bloody bang. Sorry if this review is poorly written. I‘m drunk. Read this book.

Hard to decide between So-So and pick. It‘s a fantastic plot written by a *competent* author, but not a great one. So it was good, but could have been better. The last third of the book is where it really took off, a lot of what came before dragged.

YIKES! I got serious Bret Easton Ellis vibes (á la Lunar Park). Alone at night I had to put the book down to keep the house at Kill Creek from infiltrating my dreams....

Thomas' characters question everything and so should you. Is what you're scared of scary because of the importance you place on it, and actually non-existent? Or is your fear legitimate and there is actually a murder house full of ghouls about to add your murder to its history?

Reading by the lakeside this afternoon. It‘s a hot one so hiding in the shade. This book had a blurb that I just couldn‘t pass up, hadn‘t heard any reviews and didn‘t know the author. Thus far it seems like an R. L. Stine book, but for adults. The prose lacks a bit, you definitely wouldn‘t accuse him of being subtle, but the story has interested me enough to keep me hooked.
