An anthology of zombie short fiction from some of the biggest names in horror and speculative fiction - including Stephen King, George R. R. Martin and Neil Gaiman When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth! From White Zombie to Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil to World War Z, zombies have invaded popular culture, becoming the monsters that best express the fears and anxieties of the modern west. Gathering together the best zombie literature of the last three decades from many of today's most renowned authors of fantasy, speculative fiction, and horror, including Stephen King, Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverberg, George R. R. Martin, Clive Barker, Poppy Z. Brite, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Joe R. Lansdale, The Living Dead covers the broad spectrum of zombie short fiction. Praise for THE LIVING DEAD: 'The best collection of zombie fiction stories ever' - Barnes & Noble.com 'Believe the hype. The Living Dead is absolutely the best zombie anthology I've ever read (and I've read many)... If you have even a vague interest in zombie fiction, you MUST buy this book' - Horrorscope 'The Living Dead contains stories of heartbreak, drama, and man's eternal struggle against himself. The focus doesn't fall squarely on violence and horror, which earns it a place among the best of zombie fiction' - Robert Kirkman, writer of THE WALKING DEAD and MARVEL ZOMBIES 'A superb reprint anthology that runs the gamut of zombie stories . . . There's some great storytelling for zombie fans as well as newcomers' - Publishers Weekly

I went to go vote early today and in honor of that I offer you “Death and Suffrage,” by Dale Bailey. A young man full of ideals who works for a presidential candidate gets emotional on an episode of CNN Crossfire discussing the death of a 6yo girl due to gun violence. Afterwards everyone is blaming him for being behind in the race, that is until the dead rise from their graves and they vote. They vote for his candidate. They become our 👇🏼

Reggie conscience and reminder that history is never dead. It‘s a great story. Happy Friday, Littens! 1y

Bookzombie Happy Friday! 🖤 1y
CarolynM Sounds like evidence of voter fraud to me🤣🤣🤣 1y
Reggie @CarolynM in the story it gets taken to the Supreme Court and their votes get struck down. But then the MC gets his crew to find the 6 yo zombie girl who died to gun violence and makes an ad with her and it wins them the election despite how controversial it sounds. There‘s also this backstory to the MC that‘s pretty deep. It‘s a good story. 🖤🧟🧟‍♀️ 1y

CarolynM 👍 Have a great weekend Reggie💕 1y
kspenmoll Yay! You voted! We cannot vote early in CT. 1y

1. Tagged. It‘s a huge book of zombie short story fiction. And they discuss anything and everything.

2. Oof. Right now, probably Train to Busan, but 28 Days Later, Night of the Living Dead, and Day of the Dead (1985) hold a place in my zombie heart.

3. The Complex by Brian Keene. These neighbors who are strangers in an apartment complex have to band together to survive zombies. There‘s even a chapter written by a cat. I dug it.

TheNeverendingTBR I've not read that tagged book, which King story is in it? 3y
TheNeverendingTBR 28 Days Later is so good! ☣ 3y

TheNeverendingTBR Thanks for your contribution! @Reggie 🧟‍♀️ 3y
Reggie @TheNeverendingTBR “Home Delivery” the one about the girl whose father is abusive to her and the mother. Then she gets pregnant during the zombie apocalypse. It‘s pretty good. 3y
TheNeverendingTBR @Reggie Been a long time since I read 3y
Reggie @TheNeverendingTBR I love that book. Crouch End is my favorite in there. In the back he gives inspirations for every story except 2, I think and Crouch End is one of them. That makes it a little more scary for me. 3y
TheNeverendingTBR @Reggie Mines was The End of the Whole Mess and The Night Flier 👌 3y
NikkiM5 The Complex sounds awesome 3y
udyaa @Reggie ....u r also interested in reading scarybooks??? 3y

#WinterWonderland #FirstSnowOnBrooklyn I went with song lyrics and the nostalgia and regret for the couldawouldashouldas. In this zombie anthology there‘s a short story, Bobby Conroy Comes Back From the Dead by Joe Hill, where a failed comedian/actor has moved back home where while he is a zombie extra on the set of Dawn of the Dead he sees the girl he left behind all those years ago...and her son. Who also happen to be zombie extras.

Cinfhen Like the thought process 🤓 5y
Cathythoughts That‘s brilliant 👍🏻♥️ 5y
TrishB Great pick 👍🏻 your memory for all these story lines is awesome. 5y

This is why I check the used bookstore every week 😍

I have always loved zombie movies. I grew up watching them because they are my mom‘s favorite. I‘ve only recently (within the past 2 years) begun to read horror novels and I‘m not sure what took me so long. I read The Girl With All the Gifts and thought it was brilliant and terrifying. I‘m excited to read more.

Reggie Omg!!! I love that zombie anthology!!!! I hope you enjoy it. Those authors use zombies to talk about so much. The first story, my dad read it and he totally felt it represented being a teacher. 6y
RohitSawant 😍😍😍 6y
GarthRanzz That‘s one of my favourite zombie anthologies! And I‘ve enjoyed those Hard Case imprint books. I like the retro noire of them. Great finds! 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Reggie @GarthRanzz Glad to hear you both love this one! I was super excited when I stumbled upon it. I‘m beginning to love short stories. Such a fun and easy way to escape briefly. 6y

I'm sorry, last one I swear, I just ❤️ zombies. #Zombies are just so versatile in the ways you can use them to talk about a subject. The stories in this zombie short story anthology use them to talk about teacher frustration and burnout, about the importance of voting, about a woman's right to choose, about love and heartbreak, and then there are some just good old fashioned badass zombie stories. Something for everyone in here.

Cinfhen I agree, zombies are so much more versatile than werewolves 🙃😉😘 7y
minkyb I wish we could all meet over a drink and discuss, especially if we can include vampires! 7y
