I am reading waaay too many books all at one time right now! Usually I am a one book at a time person and Litsy has totally changed my habit in the 11 months that I have been a Litten. Right now, I have 3 print books and 2 audiobooks going. And of course, they ALL have to be similar genres, just to keep me on my toes trying to keep the plots straight! 😂 #polygamousreader #monogamousreader

How many books do you usually read at one time?

Read-y_Picker Same! I now have at least a print, an audiobook and an EBook going at all times, sometimes more. #IblameLitsy 3y
Cuilin I blame Litsy for my more than one book at time habit. There‘s so many fun buddy reads!! I think I have 4-5 books going right now. 😳 3y
Ruthiella I usually have two to three going at once but they have to all be fairly different one from another...otherwise I would probably also mix them up too much in my head. 3y
See All 35 Comments
kspenmoll I always have more than one going to match my varying moods/interests. And always an audiobook. Litsy got me into audiobooks- I had never listened to a book before that unless in person!!! 3y
Scochrane26 I‘m usually a one physical/one audiobook person. I haven‘t been listening lately though. 3y
EatSleepRead One audio and one physical. I can't handle more than that! 3y
DarkMina Usually one audio and one physical. I do have two physical going right now due to a buddy read. 3y
Kappadeemom I usually read 2 or three. One print, one Kindle and one other genre that is unlike the others (like a non-fiction) 3y
NikkiM5 I was the same 😂 only one book at a time until I joined Litsy 3y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Typically I am also a one book at a time person. Recently I‘m up to two at a time. I started following along with a YouTuber‘s science book club, so I‘ve been reading those books alongside my other personal choice. I think I could probably do three at once, but I won‘t. 😅 And I‘d absolutely lose my mind with 4+. 3y
Sharpeipup 7 at a time but I do try to have different genres. 3y
Pageturner1 maybe two at a time. not a fast reader. i either have audiobook in car and hard copy of a different book at home or e-book. 3y
CogsOfEncouragement I like to have a fiction and a non-fiction at any given time. I used to always have a book I was reading with my kids too, but as they are older that is not very often anymore. 3y
Deblovestoread At least 3, kindle, print and audio. Currently 5 which include 2 chapter a day buddy reads. They all have to be different genres, time periods etc or I couldn‘t keep them straight in my head. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick At this exact moment, 3 books. One in my office, once at home, and an audiobook. I'll probably start a new ebook later today or tomorrow so I can pause the buddy read book in my office. 3y
katy4peas @Cuilin That‘s true! A lot of it is Buddy Reads. Without them, I would be back down to one print and one audio which is more my normal. 🤔 but they are so fun! 3y
katy4peas @Ruthiella I‘m starting to get to that problem where some of them are a bit too similar and the characters could easily fit into multiple books! I need to spread out my genres if I am going to have multiple books going. 3y
katy4peas @kspenmoll I‘ve definitely started to become a mood reader since the pandemic hit. I have become very picky about my books and have been very decisive about not finishing them if I am not enjoying them. My habits have changed a lot! 3y
katy4peas @Scochrane26 I‘m listening to a buddy read and then I started another audio because I was caught up with my section. I have become a huge listener lately because I can knit while I listen and multitask! I also love the narrators‘ accents and how they can appropriately read characters dialects and pronounce names better then I can, so certain books I like as audio for sure. 3y
katy4peas @EatSleepRead that‘s usually where I‘m at. And I usually try to keep the genres somewhat different or at least different time periods! 3y
katy4peas @DarkMina me too, three of mine are actually buddy reads and two are my own. 🤔 3y
Scochrane26 @katy4peas I like audiobooks, but with working from home, I have found it takes me forever to finish one. I listen to podcasts lately but will get back into audio soon. 3y
katy4peas @Kappadeemom I think I need to add the nonfiction into my mix as well. I‘m getting a little bit mystery and thriller heavy right now except for Jane Austen! 🤷‍♀️ 3y
katy4peas @NikkiM5 oh, Litsy! 💕 3y
katy4peas @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm three are buddy reads but the genres are still very similar so I am going to have to figure something out so I can keep track of them all a little better. They are all starting to blend. Jane Austen meets vampire meets ghost meets detective 😂🤷‍♀️ 3y
katy4peas @Sharpeipup wow! Different genres definitely helps! I need to figure out how to rearrange my reading a little so mine are more spread out since they are similar genres. 3y
katy4peas @Pageturner1 I‘m not a fast reader either and because I am suddenly a mood reader I have been book hopping a little bit but I also have buddy reads going on and that adds more to my current pile. So now I am up to 5 books and they are all similar genres because that is what I like to read. 🤷‍♀️😂 3y
Cuilin @katy4peas I know and I‘ve made so many great Litsy friends doing them 💖 3y
katy4peas @CogsOfEncouragement I used to have a book and a comic so I could choose which to read. The comics were short and I could read 2-3 pages and then go to bed. Now I just have my full books which is fine, but they take me longer to read. I probably need that non-fiction read to help balance and give me that sometimes quicker read before bed. It might be easier for me to read a short ch or para and it would be a different genre. Hooray! 3y
katy4peas @Kdgordon88 yeah, I‘m finding that out too. It comes back to me when I open the book, but sometimes the characters fit into the other books to easily. 😅 3y
katy4peas @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick that‘s a great idea to keep one at work. I‘m a slow reader and don‘t know if I could keep up with my buddy read, but I will have to think about that. 2-3 is usually my max. I also have a hard time with multiple books because I usually am so caught up in one story that I want to focus and sink into just that one. So multiple books takes me out of that world. Buddy reads has helped me balance that though. 3y
katy4peas @Read-y_Picker I got a Kindle for Christmas and have been stocking up on ebooks for it. Soon it will probably be in the rotation as well! 🤦‍♀️ there are so many books I want to read! And I am a sllooww reader! 3y
katy4peas @Scochrane26 oh, podcasts are another rabbit hole! 😁 3y
Powered_By_Plants 😂😂 goodness me too!! Currently on a few buddy reads which is great just a chapter a day and then a book with my daughter , always have an audiobook on the go too, so 5 altogether. Definitely making the most of it while we are locked down as I wouldn‘t be able to do so many usually. Love that you get your knit on with an audiobook 🧶 😁 (edited) 3y
kspenmoll @katy4peas Me too! This month I am struggling with my reading, even buddy reads. 3y

'Salem's Lot | Stephen King
post image

Okay, I‘m jumping in and joining the #LosersClub 🙃

#StephenKing I blame you (or #IblameLitsy ) for the fact that I‘m still awake and starting a new book at 10:45pm, after having just finished The Shining. I normally go to bed by 9pm (yes, I‘m a 34 year old grandma).

I‘m geeking out about how much I loved The Shining. As a lifelong horror movie fan, how have I not read any early #SK horror novels until now???#betterlatethannever #needsleep

Trashcanman I recommend Desperation by King, Black House, the stand, and of course the Dark Tower series 6y
GarthRanzz Glad you are joining! My one, always recommended, book of King‘s is The Stand. It is my favourite book of all time. And you picked up the best copy at the sale. You got the unedited, unabridged edition. Just don‘t let the size scare you. The story just flows. 6y
Rachellynnwright I‘m 30 and like to be in bed by 9 too! I‘m glad I‘m not the only one!!! 6y

RohitSawant Loved 'Salem's Lot! Hope you enjoy it! 6y
Reggie This is my favorite SK novel hands down. 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Trashcanman Thanks for the recommendations! I read Desperation years ago. I need to read Dark Tower. And The Stand! (edited) 6y
YouReadMyEyes @GarthRanzz It‘s my mom‘s favorite book as well! You said it, the size is why I‘ve been hesitant. I think the buddy read will help me stay on schedule and commit. Hopefully. 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Rachellynnwright You‘re definitely not alone! 😴😴😴 6y
YouReadMyEyes @rohit-sawant @Reggie Excellent, that‘s great to hear! 6y
GarthRanzz I‘ve read it more times than I can remember. More than a dozen. But I‘m excited to read it again with the group. One of the things I love about Litsy is meeting all the King fans. In real life I‘ve not met many. Here I can geek out on King and not feel (too) foolish. 😊 6y
YouReadMyEyes @GarthRanzz I 💯% share your sentiments about Litsy. 6y
RohitSawant @GarthRanzz Same! There's hardly anyone I know in real life I can geek out over King (or over just books, really) with, & it's terrific to connect with everyone here & be able to do that, and seem normal-ish. 😆 6y
niha923 I loved The Shining! Reading Doctor Sleep now which is the sequel. 6y
GarthRanzz @rohit-sawant Exactly! It‘s nice to have a place where everyone has that same experience with books and doesn‘t look at you sideways when you tell them you spent your weekend reading. 6y
hufflepuff-ish This was the second King novel that I read and how I fell in love with it !!!!! 👻👻👻 The fact that there's more to horror than just a dead person is what I love about King. He always plays on the inner-fear and real-life demons in a human's mind 6y
YouReadMyEyes @niha923 How are you liking it? Putting it on my #TBR! 6y
YouReadMyEyes @hufflepuff-ish Agreed. The psychological aspect of horror is terrifying....but I love it! I‘ll take psychological horror over gore any day. And King nails it. 6y
TricksyTails Yayyyyyyy! So happy you‘re joining!! One of my faves! 👏😁 6y
Crash I first read this when I was ten. Scared the bejezzers out of me and I loved every minute of it 🙂 6y
YouReadMyEyes @TricksyTails Thank you for hosting this #buddyread ! It‘s so cool and I‘m really looking forward to this 😆 6y
YouReadMyEyes @Crash 10 years oh my gosh, I bet it did! 😳 6y
TricksyTails It‘s my pleasure! I‘m excited to have friends to do this looooooong journey with me!😆 6y
YouReadMyEyes @TricksyTails I feel the same way 😊 I‘m going to try and catch up by squeezing in Carrie after I finish this one. 6y
TricksyTails Oooh! You can do it! And then squeeze in a rewatch of the original movie! 😆 6y

I nearly recycled this shoe box. Thankfully I came to my senses in time to realize I can use this for the NEXT book swap. Much better than the haphazard situation I sent out last week. Hopefully it's still in one piece. #SecretSantaGoesPostal #WinterSolsticeBookExchange

I might have gone just a little crazy with my #bookoutlet #bookhaul! This is the first time I ordered from them (I didn‘t even know about book outlet until Litsy). Their #scratchanddent sale is amazing- they are literally in perfect condition! Only one spine is ripped and they were so inexpensive! #iblamelitsy #hadtogettofreeshipping

Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 | G Willow Wilson
post image

File this under: #iblamelitsy. I just saw it was on sale & bought it because of all the great reviews and posts on Litsy...then I talked my feminist, comics loving (sadly not yet on Litsy) housemate into buying it too. Might even make my husband read it as well (he's a non-reader, but I feel he would like comics, I am considering throwing a bunch at him, to see if any of them will stick!). 😂😂 #blameitonlitsy

LazyOwl I hope you enjoy. My library hold just came in for this one 😊 7y
GlitteryOtters @LazyOwlBookBlog I am so excited for it! I promised myself, though, that my next comic/graphic novel would be the Wrinkle In Time graphic novel, so now I have to decide whether to let this jump to the top of the list, or if I can wait until I finish A Wrinkle in Time graphic novel first. Decisions, decisions. 🤔 7y
RealLifeReading I love Ms Marvel!! Well I would suggest reading A Wrinkle in Time first while you accumulate more volumes of Ms marvel so you can read them one after another!! 7y
RealLifeReading And my husband isn't much of a reader either but he will read some comics and manga. He did like the Fables comics and Y the last man 7y
GlitteryOtters @RealLifeReading I am hoping my husband might do the same. He has one more week left of school before he has a semester off, and I am hoping to get him to try some comics and graphic novels both in book & tablet format. I think he might like them (and I would love for him to have a less noisy hobby--he likes to rewatch tv shows on his laptop aloud (no headphones) at all hours of the day & night. Comics would be much quieter while I am sleeping😂😴 7y

I don't know whether to thank or blame @jessica for telling me about the #bookoutlet sale last week...I am now $160 poorer, but I am 40 books richer, so I think it was an incredibly good bargain. How can I squeeze these in without my husband noticing just how many books I bought...? It was *my* money, but still, he's a non-reader, so to him 5 books seems excessive. 🙄🙄 #iblamelitsy #blameitonlitsy #bookhaul

JustTrish Oh my 😍.That's a great haul! 7y
GlitteryOtters @JustTrish I can't believe the average cost per book was only $4, including shipping. How great was that?! This is, basically, my Christmas present to myself. 7y
JustTrish Wow. It would have been a crime to leave them! 7y

LauraBrook This is a seriously awesome score and a great deal!!! 7y
rubyslippersreads Definitely a drool-worthy haul! 😄 7y
LeahBergen Wow!!! I only ordered 14 from this sale! 😂😂 7y
britt_brooke Impressive haul! 7y

Soubhiville Oh my! I'm jealous! 7y
haanim Well done! 👏🏽🎉 7y
jessberk13 I have the biggest smile on my face right now! #SORRYNOTSORRY 📚😍❤️ 7y
GlitteryOtters @Jessica seriously, thank you again. I have already finished one book...now I just have 39 more to go (well, 37, plus 2 cookbooks to cook my way through!) 7y
GlitteryOtters @haanim thank you!! 7y
GlitteryOtters @Soubhiville I still can't believe I lucked out to this extent...how did I get so lucky to find SO MANY of the books on my TBR list at such really good prices?! 7y
GlitteryOtters @WoodyWoodson that is exactly what my face looked like when I opened the box! 7y
GlitteryOtters @britt_brooke I think it is my most impressive haul of the decade...last time I managed to get such a great haul I was 1) working at a bookstore 2) it was the employee annual 40% off day and 3) I was really good friends with the remainders clerk & she gave me first crack at stashing away all the best books in advance of the sale (I got a Riverside Shakespeare for $12! Complete works of Shakespeare hardcover for $12?! 😱) 7y
GlitteryOtters @LeahBergen I only wish I could have your level of self restraint! But, in my defense, I *was* sick for nearly a week of my vacation & didn't do much during that time, so I came home from the vacation a full $200 richer than I had expected because I was too sick to do anything fun...so it's like I transferred the travel money over to my book budget instead! 😂 #justifyingmypurchases 7y
GlitteryOtters @rubyslippersreads one of my dogs would agree with you...she kept licking the cookbooks and drooled on the Wonder Woman one 😂 7y
GlitteryOtters @LauraBrook I feel SO lucky that so many of the books on my TBR list were available at such good prices! 7y
GlitteryOtters @gibblr how do you get your husband to tolerate the books?! Mine grew up in a rural area around really *smart* people who were nurses and doctors and such, but literally NO ONE in his family is a reader and none of his friends are readers, either. I am the odd one out! 😂 7y
CherylDeFranceschi Excellent haul! Good luck with hiding a stash that size! 🙄 7y
GlitteryOtters @CherylDeFranceschi so far so good...6 of the new books are out and about and the rest are hidden behind my Sarah Dessen & Monica Dickens books on the shelf. 😂 I plan to slowly bring them out, read them, and work them into the rotation. If he asks if a book is new, I will be truthful, but as our house has over 3000 books & I reread frequently, I doubt he'll ask. 😉 7y
CherylDeFranceschi Excellent plan! 7y
Dragon Nice haul and clever plan to incorporate it into your current collection 😎 7y
GlitteryOtters @dragon thanks! It's working so far...fingers crossed that it continues to work...😂 7y
BookishMarginalia You go, girl! Non-readers just don't understand 😎 7y
GlitteryOtters @BookishMarginalia EXACTLY. Although, I still don't understand...how can anyone be a non-reader when there are so many good books all over the place?? 😂 7y
BookishMarginalia It does boggle the mind, doesn't it?!? 7y
melbeautyandbooks Wow! Great haul! My husband reads maybe 1 or 2 books a year. He understands my NEED to read, even though he doesn't share my need. Although 95% of my reading is done via ebooks or audiobooks so I don't have physical books around. 7y

Pickpick

I just finished my first Serial Read.

I have no idea why I haven't read this before. Some of the language was a bit tough to get through, but the story is wonderful. It's interesting how the retellings over all these years have changed the story. I wasn't sure how it would end, but found it fitting.

#iblamelitsy for recommending this one and the serial ap! Thanks #Littens!

Eyelit Yay for serial reader! What are you reading next? 8y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. What's up next? 8y

Eyelit Dorian Gray is a good one! I'm reading Ramona right now and I really like it. Carmilla is another good one (fast read also) 😃 8y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Ive read Jane Eyre (how did I miss this?!) and am currently reading The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym (enjoyable so far!) 8y

Soubhiville I'm in love with your shelves! 😍 8y
Lizpixie But how do you find a book when you need it? Arghh, my ocd is kicking in, it looks beautiful but I could never do this. Mine are all alphabetised by author, then chronological.😬 8y
Carol @Lizpixie I know what you mean, I work in a library and classification is literally my job! But when it comes to my home shelves I decided I wanted to try this and see if it will work for me, treating themlike a work of art 😁 There are 10 bookcases in my house, 2 in my office. My husband would kill me if I did this to all of them 💗 I'll keep you posted as to whether or not I keep them this way or revert back to topic/title/author 8y
Lizpixie Cool! Sometimes I'm glad I'm the only reader in the house. On one hand, it's lonely not having someone to talk, discuss, argue about books with, but on the other, all the lovely lovely shelves are mine! All mine!!😂 8y
