Here's my favorite quote yet. "It was the reverse of the ill-considered folk wisdom most of us had heard from family or friends: As soon as you stop trying, you'll get pregnant. Our truth was more like this: Keep trying...and you'll eventually have success."

I can't go a page of this book without wanting to highlight a quote. @Graywolfpress

The Scourge | Jennifer A. Nielsen

My MG/young YA read for the day. I adored Jennifer Nielsen's The False Prince. I'm liking this too although so far not as much as False Prince.

CaitlinSiem I really liked The False Prince, too. I haven't read the other two books in the trilogy though. I'm curious about her Mark of the Thief books too. 8y
AlisonCanRead @CaitlinSiem the other two books were good but not nearly as good as the first. Haven't tried Mark of the Thief. I should. 8y

Post blood-draw and pre expected sucky results, I'm rewarding myself with a drink and a book at Barnes and Noble. A few pages into Where'd You Go Bernadette and I'm already laughing.

OneLitChick It's a fab book... Enjoy! 8y
OneLitChick Sorry about sucky results... Bernadette will be a nice distraction. 8y
Stephanie-Anne I hope things go well. But you're right: a good book and a favorite beverage can the the best company while you wait...🙂 8y

The Girls: A Novel | Emma Cline

Pickpick

What a compelling read. Moved quickly for literary-ish fiction. Somewhat bleak and depressing. Cline did a great job of creating a broken young teen who could be easily attracted to Manson like cult. Not sure about the ending though.

What a wonderful way of putting a very true statement. Currently listening to this on audio. I could hear Neil Gaiman in my ears forever.

Tav After having read parts of this collection, I realize I like Gaiman's nonfiction more than his fiction! 8y

My favorite quote so far in Homegoing. Need help though - How do you highlight text on Litsy?

Caryl That's a lovely quote. I really want to read that book! As for highlighting text, I've been using the "focus" option. You can choose a circle or rectangle shape, then move it or resize it (using two fingers). It blurs whatever you don't "focus" on. 8y
AlisonCanRead Good to know! Thanks Caryl. 8y
Tav Yes-you can't actually highlight on Litsy. When ppl post highlighted passages, they take a photo of what they highlight in their Ereader. 8y

Tea and a book. Only 3 chapters in and it's already fantastic!

The Problem with Forever | Jennifer L. Armentrout

Mehso-so

If you love edgy YA romance, you'll love this. Unfortunately, edgy romance with dark Alpha males with troubled pasts and presents is a big turn off for me. But objectively, a well written story. I've yet to find a Jennifer Armentrout book I love which makes me sad.

Continuing book tourism with one of my favorite upper east side bookstores. Glancing through Food and the City, which sounds great.

Saw the musical for the second time today. It's great but the book was so much better. Very thoughtful about animal rights, treatment of "different" people plus rhe Oz story.

Spotted my current read while browsing at Books of Wonder in NYC today. Fabulous book and fun book tourism

MrBook I love that store 😊👍🏻 8y
AlisonCanRead Me too. Unfortunately I only get out to NY 2-3 times a year. I try to visit whenever I'm there though. 8y
