How Y'all Doing?
How Y'all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived | Leslie Jordan
Viral sensation and Emmy Award-winner Leslie Jordan regales fans with entertaining stories about the odd, funny, and unforgettable events in his life in this unmissable essay collection that echoes his droll, irreverent voice. When actor Leslie Jordan learned he had gone viral, he had no idea what that meant or how much his life was about to change. On Instagram, his uproarious videos have entertained millions and have made him a global celebrity. Now, he brings his bon vivance to the page with this collection of intimate and sassy essays. Bursting with color and life, dripping with his puckish Southern charm, How Yall Doing? is Leslie doing what Leslie does best: telling stories that make us laugh and lift our spirits even in the darkest days. Whether hes writing about his brush with a group of ruffians in a West Hollywood Starbucks, or an unexpected phone call from legendary Hollywood start Debbie Reynolds, Leslie infuses each story with his fresh and saucy humor and pure heart. How Yall Doing? is an authentic, warm, and joyful portrait of an American Sweetheart a Southern Baptist celebutante, first-rate raconteur, and keen observer of the odd side of life whose quirky wit rivals the likes of Amy Sedaris, Jenny Lawson, David Rakoff, and Sarah Vowell.

Well shit! Why did Leslie have to leave us so soon? I love memoirs read by their authors and this one needs to be listened to bc no one can emphasize his stories like Leslie could. Loved this. He seemed so happy with where his life was and was so astonished of how he became an instant follow on Instagram by many of us during the pandemic. He is a storyteller.

Jordan was a sweet soul, and his goodness will he missed. A short read with some cute, light-hearted stories. It certainly wasn‘t a deep dive into his life, but it gave us a glimpse of how he looked at the world.

My sister & I went to Ohio for 2 days so she could visit a friend of hers. She rarely likes audiobooks, but I knew she would like this one. We both love Leslie Jordan. I gave the physical book 4 stars last year, but the audio narrated by him makes it even better. #reread

To say I am DEVASTATED would be under saying how I feel right now.....

Beloved Out actor and comedian Leslie Jordan has died in a single-car crash Monday morning in Hollywood after suffering an unspecified medical emergency an LAPD source said. The news of his death was first broken by entertainment gossip news website TMZ.

Who isn't a fan of this gorgeous man?! Rhetorical question I know. This book was everything I was hoping it would be, I loved hearing Leslie's memories told to us in ways only he can. I read every word with his Southern accent in my head. This book was such a pick me up read. I particularly found the story about him wanting a doll for Christmas heartwarming. I hope he writes more books 😍 it was such a fun read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a sweet, heartwarming read that is funny as hell. We could all stand to be a little more like Leslie. He may ask himself, “what would Dolly do?” but I think I‘m going to start asking myself, “what would Leslie do?” As if I didn‘t already adore Leslie Jordan, I love him even more after hearing him read this. What a kind and funny soul. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

A short gallop through the joyful & garrulous Leslie Jordan‘s brain. My favorite chapter was “The Bride Doll” (in which he unintentionally disfigures his sisters‘ doll by trying to make her look like Twiggy, throws her out the window, & then periodically “checks on her body”…”like a serial killer” until she‘s found). My favorite phrase was “all of this brouhaha made me extremely squirrelly.” Jordan‘s a natural storyteller & he feels like a friend.

Nutmegnc His insta got me through the long lockdown at the beginning of the pandemic 1y
monalyisha @Nutmegnc I‘ve honestly only seen a few of his videos. I have a friend who would share them in our group chat from time to time. What a delight! 1y
monalyisha @Nutmegnc Also, since we‘re talking Instagram (forgive me, Leslie, for redirecting attention away from you), my recent Insta obsession is @ tylergaca. One of my faves: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CImQumrgREs/?utm_medium=copy_link (edited) 1y

So, I finished How Y‘all Doing? today. It was a nice and mostly fun book. Like the Dolly Parton book I listened to, it felt conversational, and I liked that aspect. Leslie Jordan seems like he‘d be a fun person to know. Now I need a new walking book. Anyone read anything funny and/or light recently? Or read a cozy mystery that would make a good walking book?

EvieBee Have you by chance read this? It‘s cozy on audio although I need to finish it! 1y

It‘s back to Leslie Jordan for my walks. It‘s been awhile because I decided to finish up Synchronized Sorcery for my last walk, and when I went to the beach and walked, I didn‘t feel like listening to anything but the waves. I‘m in a more serious section now where he‘s talking about what AIDS was like in the 80s. I remember that so well. #audiowalk

You definitely want to go with Audiobook because it's read by Author. Not an overly long listen, just over 4 hours. Perfect for a morning of chores.

In between the funny stories & Hollywood gossip there are serious moments about how we drag our childhood baggage w/ us everywhere we go.

And this bit of wisdom:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can‘t believe I just now started following this adorable little nugget on IG! I loved his over-the-top Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace - often with his hot “business associate” Benji 😂 - but hadn‘t followed his career past that. Jordan is utterly charming and thoughtful. This brief memoir hits the high notes of his childhood, career, and his COVID-prompted, hunker-down venture into Instagram. His audio narration is everything.

Leslie Alan Jordan is a bright spot on Instagram, especially during the pandemic lockdown. Either beginning each post with “Hello Fellow Hunker-Downers” or “Well Sh*t”, he brought humor to my locked down life. This book capitalized on the popularity and was just so-so, I like the impromptu posts better. Just hearing his voice can make me smile, so the audiobook was the way to go. 2/5🌈s
