Ending #pridemonth with this one. Vuong‘s poetry and skill with verse definitely comes through in this novel. The story felt so real that I often had to remind myself this was fiction, not a memoir. A challenging book, but one that‘s beautiful and sticking with me. 🏳️‍🌈

Our final #pridemonth selection for #litereads Sandals Full of Rainwater by A.E. Prevost is a character-driven fantasy story full of worldbuilding, with a focus on gender, pronouns, language, immigration, friendship, and found family. I think anyone interested in fantasy that is heavy on the characters and world and day to day life will find themselves enjoying this one. You can read my full review in the link below.

It's fitting that I finished this book sitting next to an #LGBT community center. LOVE the premise. The political aspect was surprisingly moving; the last chapter made me teary. However, the voices could've been stronger; most of the characters sounded the same (Brits, Americans, POTUS, twenty-somethings, etc) & multiple "he"s were sometimes confusing. Great read for #PrideMonth ?️‍? #ya #weneeddiversebooks #teachersoflitsy #summerreading

This book is NOT my typical cup of tea but I've always been drawn to it by the beauty of its cover. When I saw the audiobook was available through #Libby, I jumped on it. It was a blind leap of faith since I actually didn't know much about it. I'm glad I did. Despite definite trigger warnings & parts that are capable of just making you feel uncomfortable... it was SO well written! Also happy for, again, unexpected LGBT rep for #PrideMonth ❤ 4.5🌟

tracey38 I really enjoyed this one as well. 2w

I really enjoyed the history in this book.
I knew a lot of it already from studying but it was nice to have the blanks filled in.
The only problem for me was this book was mainly about gay men there was only 2 chapters I remember about woman, Could of had more.
