As translator Aaron Poochigian summarizes in the intro, " Considering life in Athens litigious & stressful, two Athenians, Peisthetaerus & Euelpides, head into the wilderness to find Tereus the Hoopoe, leader of the birds, & to make their home there." Peisthetaerus & Euelpides convince Tereus & the other birds to build Cloudcuckooland, a grand border city between humans & the Gods to regain their mythical majesty. A zany comedy w/ some ?

vivastory interesting commentary underneath. 6d
batsy Aristophanes is so over the top! And it intrigues me to think about the audiences he was writing for, who obviously were into this kind of absurdist. 6d
batsy *absurdism 6d
vivastory @batsy I completely agree. It makes me wonder about lost plays that could have anticipated Beckett & Ionesco. 6d

This book quickly changed from being a fun story about a reality TV to a complete horror story!! Yikes. Not sure what to think.

Oscar Wilde is one of the greatest wits of all time. I was reading this play, laughing the entire time, and scheming lessons/activities I could do with future classes. This is an absolute riot from start to finish.

This is a re-read for me. I read it for the first time a few years ago and thought it was funny and heartfelt. It has funny stories of Amy's upbringing and career as well as heartfelt but still amusing life advice.

This is a book of short slice-of-life stories and I was hoping for a little more depth. Cute, but not enough to make me continue reading the series.

I know this is LITsy not VOTEsy…but I deleted the rest of my social media for the month, so I‘m sharing this here. 😅

Proud of myself for waking up super early to vote in our local election this morning! ✌🏻

MatchlessMarie For me it‘s both because I always vote at my library 🤪 2w

monalyisha @MatchlessMarie That‘s great! Before we moved, we voted at the Botanical Garden & it was *delightful.* Now, it‘s just at a standard Middle School. 2w

Pickpick

Mervyn Peake is a unique figure in modern fantasy. His unfinished Gormenghast trilogy draws upon Charles Dickens and Robert Louis Stevenson as its influences.
