Pick times five thousand. What a great #romance for #PrideMonth, with a diverse cast of characters delightfully drawn. I loved the relationships in this book—between the two protagonists, but also with the MC‘s family and friends. Such great drama, politics, intelligence, and heartthrobs. Made a collage of the highlights for me.

marleed Great Pic for this fun book! If only!! 10h

While I have some reservations about the author, the cultural attitude towards minorities in the 1940s (the decade in which this book was written), and what happens in the book, the story itself was interesting and heartbreaking. It moved along beautifully and captivated my attention. I‘ve had a hard time focusing in reading lately, but I sat down with this book for substantial chunks of time. #pridemonth 🏳️‍🌈

I absolutely LOVED this book! Everything about it wonderful: the story, the writing, the layers - the whole package. It‘s a beautiful tale of family and transformations, fairy tale and real life, examined through the lens of gender-coding and queerness. #pridemonth 🏳️‍🌈

Amiable I loved this book too 👍🏼 2d

The Trip by Mari Kurisato was this week's #litereads pick, and it both enthralled me for its science fiction worldbuilding and ripped my heart out for its emotional storytelling, so I have to say I personally liked it. You can read my full review below. I hope you'll let us know in the comments what you thought of this story chosen with #indigenoushistorymonth and #pridemonth in mind.

This book totally took me by surprise! A #Fantasy #Mystery & part #Horror story
What I love most are the characters, these 3 kickass strong girls who turned from enemies to allies and stood together to fight this monster & this stupid men only cult! I'm surprised to see the diversity of these characters (including biseual & asexual) and the writing was beyond any #YA I've read this year. A solid 4🌟/5

sebrittain I loved this book! Have you read her Empirium series? 3d
BooknerdsLife No I haven‘t yet but have reserved them from my library 🤗 Have you read? Did you enjoy them? I‘ve seen some reviews & seems like those who love this book don‘t like the other series as much and vice versa 🤔 (edited) 3d
BooknerdsLife @sebrittain oops! Just saw your review! 😆🙈 I cant wait to start the series! 3d
sebrittain @BooknerdsLife I love the series, but it definitely took a while to get used to the alternating perspectives/storylines 3d

I love this book! It‘s a beautiful story and oh so perfect for #pridemonth. And who knew the day would soon come when Madonna (yes, the Michigan-born girl) would be so appropriately woven into a story that is not ‘their‘ story but everyone‘s story.

BooknerdsLife I have this book on my TBR! Hope my library will get it 🤞🏼 3d
marleed @BooknerdsLife I made an online library request for the purchase and they obliged. So far in 2019, the library has purchased 7 of my 9 requests! 3d
BooknerdsLife @marleed Wow! That‘s awesome! 👍🏼💖 Dies your library request you to pay a sum for those books purchased too? I‘d love to put in my request too but the librarian told me I‘ll be requested to pay around $3.5 for each book if they have decided to order it for me ...it‘s not much but I just feel uneasy about it... 3d

BooknerdsLife @marleed but I think I will do that for this book 🤗 3d
marleed @BooknerdsLife No cost to me at all, I‘m able to make one request per day, but I‘ve only made 9 requests so far. I don‘t understand the justification for the $3.5 fee! I would think the library would oblige and be interested in patron requests if funds permit. 3d
BooknerdsLife @marleed TBH Me neither! And I feel a little uneasy ...but the way she explained was I would get the priority to read the book once they have purchased as my request, and the fee is same as reserve fee 😑 That‘s so awesome you can request one per day! 😱😍 3d

Can something be both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time? This finally made it to the top of my tbr after reading a buzfeed columnist who said she was 6yrs late finding this book, but now won't leave home without the book AND audio book versions with her. And as far as literary security blankets go this is a good choice with its loving, warm parental figures, sweeping, powerful emotions and earnest, endearing honesty. #pridemonth

LibrarianJen I was late to this one also and OMG I love it so much! 5d
IndoorDame @LibrarianJen yes!!! I read it on Libby but I plan to make it a permanent part of my library next time I'm at a brick and mortar bookshop 5d
LibrarianJen I had to order mine because all my bookstores only had softcover and this is definitely a hardcover worthy book. I haven‘t listened to the audio book yet. 5d
IndoorDame @LibrarianJen good tip! I was imagining this in hardcover, but you're right, I probably won't find that on the shelf since it's not even a new release. (I haven't tried the audio either, but I expect I'll likely borrow a library copy at some point) 5d
BooknerdsLife Love it with all my heart!!!! 3d

Because I have no patience or self control I decided I couldn't handle the 6 month library hold list and bought myself a kindle copy of this, and I'm SO glad I did! This was a total #blameitonlitsy read for me. When I first saw the galley of this the cover art and brief blurb turned me off and I was convinced I wouldn't be interested, but the more reviews I read the more excited I got about it and you all were right :-) I LOVED this. #pridemonth

BookNAround So glad you liked it. I thought it was totally adorable. 5d

I didn't set out with a #PrideMonth theme in mind, yet that's where books have taken me. It's been yrs since I read Simon vs... but I've watched the movie Love, Simon about 5 times in the past 2 weeks, so I couldn't help picturing/hearing the movie cast in my head while reading this book. I love this world & Albertalli's style though I don't know how "true to character" the relationship developments are. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #ya #teachersoflitsy #summerreading
