Murder, Interrupted | James Patterson

Pickpick

Another great true crime read from one of my fave Authors, James Patterson. This book contains 2 true crime cases, a husband who hires a hitman to kill his wife and the fairly recent Dee Dee Blanchard case. If you aren't familiar with this case it's the disturbing case of a mother and her munchausen by proxy with her daughter who then eventually turns on her resulting in the mother being murdered. A very interesting and heartbreaking read.

I really enjoyed this book, yes it is very detailed, some reviewers say it is too detailed but I quite like how detailed it is as a beginner to the whole minimalist lifestyle. This book has helped get me excited to start decluttering my home and given me ways to look at my current belongings with a more minimalist mindset. It has already inspired me to donate 100 books put of my book collection to a school fundraiser!

If I didn't already love Celeste's sense of humour from her Instagram page I definitely would have fallen in love with it when reading this book. This book is a humour filled romp through Celeste's life and experiences with some empowering and poignant experiences also in the mix. A great read for anyone wanting a laugh or just a great read and some further insight into the life of one of the greatest instagrammers of our times. #celestebarber

This book grips you from the beginning when a live in nanny is hired, we know she has changed her identity and that the family do not know who is really living in their home. It's a tangled web of intrigue that I enjoyed every page of. Just when I thought I had the nanny sussed out and that the FBI guy was going to finally capture her the plot twisted again. Makes you think twice about who you would hire to live and work in your home.

Murder Beyond the Grave | James Patterson

I am a huge James Patterson fan and love true crime so is it any surprise that when a book combines both I will love it?! This book goes through the 'accidental' murder of a wealthy real estate developer where he was buried alive and the murder of a couple who look into buying a holiday camp style retreat. A winning combination of true crime and storytelling by one of the greatest authors of our time. Easy to devour this book in a day.

My second Anna-Lou Weatherley book, and won't be the last! The first murder is disturbing in all the ways us thriller readers like. A pathological killer who charms and disarms people whilst looking for her next victim. This is the first book in the Dan Reilly series he is a likeable detective. The suspense whilst reading it was palpable and it was peppered with plot twists I didn't anticipate. The thriller version of Goldilocks and the 3 bears.

The Silent Patient | Alex Michaelides

To say it consumed me is an understatement! The plot twist I had to re-read it 3 times to make sure I was reading it correctly! The silent patient is Alicia, she has been locked up in a mental institution since her husband was repeatedly shot in the face. She hasn't spoken a word since she was found with her wrists slashed beside his body. Theo is a psychotherapist wants to work with Alicia and see if he can get her to finally start talking.

Thanks to Booksirens for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. This book had me hooked from the very first chapter! Living in a remote house alone Marianne is unnerved by finding footprints in the snow in front of her bedroom window one morning. Then strange little "tokens" keep appearing on and in the property and it becomes evident someone is watching her. Andrea Mara has expertly woven this twisted plot into a spellbinding read.

An insightful look into the life of a child raised by a serial killer, this book details Hazel's life from childhood to present. A disturbing insight into her childhood and the horrors she witnessed her mother committing. It also shows the strength of the family bonds between Hazel and her siblings and how she eventually came forward to the authorities to have her mother investigated and charged with the murders she had committed. A riveting read.

When I first started this book I was a little surprised at the way it was written, it seemed harsh, maybe the title should have been a giveaway. Once I got past the first chapter or so I realised a lot of the perceived harshness was just the author's humourous way to shock people into getting out there and starting a running regime. It was more about encouraging you to get out there and jfdi than to berate or belittle you. The book has good advice

It would be remiss of me not to disclose that I am a huge fan of Kitty Flanagan and her sense of humour before reviewing this book. It is literally laugh out loud so many times, if I wasn't laughing out loud I was nodding my head along in agreement with her rules! A great fun read for anyone who needs a laugh. An engaging fun look at the rules Kitty thinks everyone should live by and why! Cannot recommend highly enough! #kittyflanagan #jublyumph

I have been eagerly anticipating another book by B A Paris, It didn't disappoint! Whilst not quite as suspenseful and unputdownable as I found Behind closed doors or The Breakdown to be, this book still kept me intrigued. Secrets a couple are keeping from each other. This book leaves you thinking how we should never take life or the people in our lives and the moments we get to spend with them for granted, ever. #jublyumph

One of the best self help books I have read in a long time. This is a guide to helping people overcome addiction issues of all kinds....alcohol, drugs, food, smoking etc. It also provides explanations for why we do the things we do even though we know its bad for us and tips on how to treat ourselves better and overcome our issues. The main message of the book is about healing ourselves with kindness towards ourselves.

Thankyou to #netgalley for the ARC. A darkly disturbing yet unputdownable book. I was hooked from the first chapter. The book is the true story of 3 sisters who grew up in a house of horrors where their mother was the instigator of unbelievable torture and manipulation towards them. The survival of these sisters is testament to the strength of their sisterly bonds despite everything they were made to endure at the hands of their mother and father.
