This book has been on my shelf forever. It was a so so read for me. As the title suggests there is a lot of killing in this book. The main character it a hitman who unwittingly is called to do a job outside of protocol and chaos ensues. Ended up being a read AND donate. I dropped it off at a little free library near me and swapped it for this Encyclopedia Brown book. #ReadOrDonate #EBBR #ISpyBingo

Ruthiella Great find! I love it when the FLL delivers like that. 😃 45m

The House of Hades | Rick Riordan

As much as I loved The Sun and the Star, updating my #readingbracket2025 meant choosing between it and The House of Hades. THoH might have won simply because it has more characters and is longer, or some other emotional appeal. Either way, it was a very close decision.

I don‘t reread books, but when I finished teaching Hunger Games this year and read Sunrise on the Reaping, I really felt compelled to visit this world again. And boy, was that the right choice! I loved it just as much as the first time. Collins is just so good at her craft! Also I‘ve finally figured out the magic of physical book reading when you‘re relaxing + audiobooking while you do the chores to keep the house looking presentable. A win-win!

Prairiegirl_reading I was thinking about getting sunrise and then doing a reread but I‘d leave out the first prequel. Will that work? 1d
Erinreadsthebooks @Prairiegirl_reading Definitely! You don‘t need to read Songbirds to understand and enjoy Sunrise and a reread. 1d

I enjoyed it. The magic was very different and I liked how the gods were portrayed.

Roary47 Ooo I‘ll read along. I have this series and never read it. 😅 I‘ll catch up to the second book so I can discuss. 😍 20h

The Girl and the Galdurian (Lightfall 1), by Tim Probert (2020)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Premise: An anxious girl teams up with an adventurous stranger to search for her missing wizard grandfather.

Review: This is an adorable graphic novel featuring charming characters and stunning illustrations. I have some quibbles about the plotting, mostly how book one ended without any resolution and I‘m still not sure what the stakes are. Cont.

Mattsbookaday But overall this was really lovely and I‘ll definitely read on.

Bookish Pair: For another gross-generational unlikely pairing fantasy graphic novel, Nimona by ND Stevenson (2015)

I felt that this volume was had a slower pace, and I mean SLOW, that I couldn't really get into this one as much as the last two volumes until I saw the Nightmare Knight towards the end.

I like the brief moment between him and Princess Parfait. I felt like they have a funny relationship and I'm hoping for more an unexpected friendship.

This was a book from our Little Library! A delightful summer read-thankful for neighbors who share a good book!
