I am studying the redemption genre and I love this book. Amazing what Dickens accomplished in such a short novella and crisp language to describe the fantastical.

jen_the_scribe It's my little tradition to read this every year at Christmas time. Love it! 4d

Just barely a pick. Everyone knows the story by now. The original deserves it's recognition, but I can't say I enjoy reading Dickens.

madamereadsalot1 I have a hard time believing anyone who says they enjoy reading him. 2w
Exbrarian @madamereadsalot1 I have met some English Lit majors that love Dickens. I know I read a Tale of Two Cities during high school but all I recall is how much I disliked it. 2w
madamereadsalot1 @Exbrarian I've met a few who love him too. I won't comment more. Ha! I've read Two Cities, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and some of David Copperfield. They are all drudgery and work to get through. Perhaps I am just of small mind? I wanted to like him, it felt like a thing that I needed to do at that time in my life. Alas, no. 🤷 2w
Sweettartlaura English majors DO love Dickens 🙄😔🤷🏻‍♀️. I detest him. This 👆🏻 is the only one worth my time. 2w

Book #33: A Christmas Carol tells the story of a miserly scrooge who eventually learns to feel the Christmas spirit after being threatened by three Christmas spirits. The story in the book is just like the story many people already know through its countless adaptations. However, anyone who is familiar with adaptations knows that the books can be...

Wonderful! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Probably one of the most popular novels by Charles Dickens, this book definitely inspired me to read more of his works! I can't wait to read the next title i have chosen from his works, 'The old curiosity shop'

This is definitely a book everyone must read atleast once in their lifetime! Such a wonderful story of what a little less bitterness and hate and a little more love and generosity can do! ☺

So my friend brought this book when we met yesterday. She said she is very busy with work and don‘t have much time to read. So she decided to read children‘s books instead. I really want to read A Christmas Carol because I have yet read it. 😆

Dickens is a genius to write such an eye opening novella. The didactic novella teaches people to be more generous at Christmas and help others as it is a time for giving.

A good read, a good message behind why the Spirits visited, and an even better ending. Harder time reading it as written, but that was because of the time and language used. Glad I finally read it, though ☺️

A Christmas Carol is, so far, the only Dickens book I‘ve read. Everyone knows the famous story‘s plot. It‘s been a classic ever since it‘s publication in 1843. I thoroughly enjoyed the feel good tale. The writing is a little heavy on adjectives at times but it goes well with the story. In this new year we should strive to be more like Scrooge at he end of the story. Our moods and actions affect others more than we realize.

Classic. For some reason I had never read this beforen which is odd because I'm one of those odd birds who like Dickens. Guess I figured I already knew the story.

3rd book for #24b42019

I listened to the NYPL podcast of A Christmas Carol read by Neil Gaiman while cooking dinner and getting ready for work this eve. Very enjoyable reading! Now I‘m interested in listening to how Tim Curry reads it on Audible. I may sign up next Christmas for a free trial. Notice how Gaiman dressed as Dickens for the performance. 3/5🎄s

I always love this book, but with Tim Curry narrating it, it was even more delightful! ❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️

kelli7990 I haven‘t listened to this version of this story with Tim Curry narrating. I listened to the audiobook I found on YouTube with Jim Dale narrating recently and I feel like he did good narrating and I enjoyed the story. This was my first time reading this story but I‘ve seen the play and I remember liking the play when I saw it. 6mo
GypsyKat @kelli7990 I love the book, so I always reread it around the holidays in some version. Jim Dale is a fantastic narrator! I also have a version with Simon Vance narrating, and I think that‘s my favorite. 6mo

Not the tagged book, but a gorgeous graphic novel edition published by Harvey Kurtzman.

I saw this edition here at Litsy and since I am a great fan of 'a Christmas carol' I needed this edition.

I really love this one. So many things are quite similar to the original plot and there are great illustrations within it and it is still cheap at Amazon #kindledeals . 😏 Finished it within my #fridayreads 🤩
