I am destroyed! Sobbing like a baby! Two back to back heartstopping moments in the closing pages of this outstanding work have rendered me emotionally stupified. So so so SO GOOD!
MORE PLEASE! AND SOON!!!
Just like the previous 8 volumes in this series of graphic novels, I loved every page of this one. My only complaint is that I have to wait so long for the next volume to find out what's going to happen next.
The last Saga in a while, since the writers are going on hiatus for at least a year. So of course it ended on a cliffhanger 🙄
1. Catching up on Saga!
2. Rest and recovery! Watching The Crown and Unicorn Store with Maya, reading a bit, and if I feel up to it may start a jigsaw puzzle. Plus I brushed my hair this morning! #progress #postop #endowarrior #hystersister
3. Yes! But only when they are still warm.
4. No clue
Saga news😱 I really hope the current Hiatus will end soon, I‘ll soon be reading Vol.9 and need the next issue😭😭😭

"Anticipation and dread aren't opposites, just different versions of the same game. Both involve knowing that something is going to happen, but not knowing when. And whether you end up winning or losing, you at least get to reach a conclusion."
Pretty much sums up how I feel about the end of Saga (for now). My heart was ripped out and now I have to wait a year for Vaughan to give it back. 5 ????? out of 5 for vols. 7, 8 & 9.
Saga volume 9
I finally got around to reading this volume, and I can say is omg omg omg 😮 WTH.
After witnessing my reaction, the hubs decided to do some research into the series and told me that the Saga series is taking a 1 year break - which is fine. That just means I‘ll have to wait much longer for volume 10 🤣

The one good thing about being awoken in the middle of the night by tornado sirens is I managed to finally snag some graphic novels from Hoopla. They are usually maxed out unless I stay up until midnight and I keep forgetting!
I love this series so much! Personal ethics and independent journalism are at the forefront in this volume. The art is outstanding and the pace is brisk, interspersed with idyllic moments (and sex). As always, we are left hanging at the end, hoping for the best even though the situation is dire. #comics #graphicnovel
My #JanuaryWrapUp 💙I read some really incredible and impactful books in January. My favorites this month were A Piece of Cake, The Wicked King, both Saga books (still can‘t talk about it), and Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.
I didn‘t pan any of the books I read this month, but I did find The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober to be lacking. Starting out strong with my #nonfiction2019 reads - 5 out of 9 books this month!
1. Saga, Volume 9
2. All of them, depending on if I work from home.
3. Tripped up the stairs in high school.
4. Cheerios in the morning as I walk into work (it's a Buffalo, NY thing).
5. Black City
1. Saga volume 9. I will forever hate Brian K Vaughan with the power of a thousand suns.
2. I try to pack when I can, but I probably eat out more than I should.
3. Not sure...way too many. Two hours ago I stopped to pick up some pizza, and then tried to get in the wrong car. It took me a moment to realize that.
4. The way that Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Samhain scent smells on @cobwebmoth . 🔥
5. Shirtless Primal
4/5⭐ Not surprised by events based on other readers' reactions. Given this series has broken me already, I was ok w/ emotional spoilers this time.
Getting tired of The Will, who's flatlined to more of a tool than a fully realized character.
Overall great storytelling. Eager to see the consequences of what went down once the creators come back from hiatus.
Why, because you think made-up stories have never resulted in actual casualties? Putting new ideas into another person's head is an aggressive act, and aggressive acts have consequences. Face it, you can be a writer or a pacifist, but you can't be both. #projectSAMS #TIABchallenge
I hate everything.
"Anticipation and dread aren't opposites, just different versions of the same game."
Once again Saga has left me gasping in surprise and shock (are those the same thing?), and in appreciation of how damn good it is. So, so good.
Now to play the #waiting game through the yearlong hiatus...
I‘m playing catch-up on my book reviews, so I‘ll start with Saga. It had been a year since I binge read the first 8 books, and this made me realize how much I had missed these characters and the great artwork. It was great as always, and the ending killed me! 😩 We have a long wait for the next volume! 😞 5⭐️
Oh, my heart 💔
Well. That ending was a damn punch to the gut. 😭
If you want a graphic novel to read with your young children, this book is not appropriate! If you want an intense read with adult content, sorrows, and the shit that life sometimes throws at you (if you and your loved ones were being hunted and you were escaping capture and torment by flying around on a spaceship full of refugees that become like family), then read this book.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Why didn‘t someone warn me it ends like that? Oh. Hell. No.
All the usual review stuff with Saga - great art, great storyline, violent, heartbreaking, and WTF WAS THAT ENDING?!?! I‘m going to go curl up in a ball and cry now.
