Mehso-so

My monthly reading challenge was to read a book out of my genre comfort zone. For me, that is easily sci-fi. I have heard great things about Saga so I decided that would be a good place to start. Let me start off by saying this graphic novel is beautiful. The story was good. I‘m still just not a sci-fi fan. That being said, if anyone has any recommendations for a beginner level sci-fi drop them in the comments. I really want find one that I love.

Foxyfictionista Maybe try Becky Chambers. This book is sometimes called 'rainbow and sunshine' sci fi. 2w
SilverShanica Try Dalia Black by Keith Thomas. It‘s a mock-ography style, so it doesn‘t feel like sci fi while still being sci fi. It is a great way to try something out of your comfort zone without jumping into the deep end 2w
Dyslexicon13 Try some Ray Bradbury, Phillip K Dick, or H G Wells 2w

ravenlee I‘m not much for sci-fi either, but this has been my favorite read this year. It‘s space opera, so there‘s romance and family drama but set in space. 2w
ravenlee Oh, I read Bradbury‘s Martian Chronicles recently and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It goes very quickly. 2w
xicanti You might have better luck with SF marketed as litfic. I recommend STATION ELEVEN by Emily St John Mandel and AN OCEAN OF MINUTES by Thea Lim. 2w
megzlynn @ravenlee @Foxyfictionista @SilverShanica @Dyslexicon13 @xicanti Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I can‘t wait to try them. 2w

This volume covers six single issues and the first three are about abortion rights.

Though I happen to agree with BKV on this issue, it nonetheless felt very heavy-handed.

Still, poignant moments and surprises in this *graphic* GN.
