This was a surprise. I didn‘t think I would‘ve enjoyed this as much. The supporting characters really helped keep the interest going from beginning to end.
On to the next read. Halfway to the finish. #WitchAThon
So I decided to do a small culinary-literary world tour during my holidays. Today's first destination was Greece, where Leigh Bardugos "Wonder Woman" is set.
Menu: Greek Bujurdi with potatoes and peas
(I just recently got into cooking so no food blogger fancy stuff to see here... Sorry! ??)

Thanks to #Netgalley I got a chance to read #WonderWomanWarbringerTheGraphicNovel which means I now need to make time to read the novel it‘s based off of because I found it really enjoyable and want more. It‘ll be interesting too to see how they compare. Beautifully illustrated and wonderful colors, will recommend this book when it comes out in January 2020.
When I was about halfway through with that book I went online to check its genre. Then I checked again. Then I closed the book and took a deep breath. This really is labeled as YA.
YA being the genre I dislike the most, sometimes even feeling physical pain while reading it. This one I loved.
Therefore I consider this as a miracle.
I do not normally read tie-in novels -- I prefer my comics to be comics, my movies to be movies, and my novels to be novels. But I'm giving this a go, because I got it in a subscription box and it always pays to give new things a try, and I do like Bardugo's other books. We'll see!
Great story for Wonder Woman fans. The fact that there was diversity and plenty of 'girl power' it was also great at showing how not only those with super strength could be heroes and also how to harness anger for good. Loved the way the lore was built and how this was a unique take on the myth of Themyscria and the Amazons themselves.
Aaaaand this is why I always like to have a print copy of whatever book I‘m listening to... I kept wondering, why does she keep calling the island The Mascara?! Apparently I need to brush up on my Wonder Woman lore 🤦♂️
Starting a new book tonight with some #audiocrochet - not sure I like the narrator, but I‘ll give it an hour or so before I decide if I want to switch to the paper copy.
I‘m working on a blanket for my mom and not really loving the colors... but it will look nice with her throw pillows. Looking forward to finishing this one.
Team #BFC y‘all have inspired me. First, you‘re posts & comments = awesome! I love that y‘all are sharing both the good & the tough. It‘s exactly what I imagined. ❤️ We‘re in it together & we‘ll succeed as a TEAM! 🙌🏻
And b/c of your inspiration, I have take my #BookFitnessChallenge to the next level. I‘m now using my June 5K as a training run. I have 19 (& a half) weeks to train. It‘s going to be a LOT of audiobooks. 😉

5 ⭐️This is what I want Neil Gaiman‘s gods to be like. This was a great Diana Prince origin story. Also one of the main characters is fat and hot and she‘s not just comic relief. She has a real role in the story. She does more than check a diversity box. That made me super happy 😃
Oh my goodness, JEE! I love everything and I LOVE the theme! I can always use folders, and I love magnets, key chains, and bookmarks of course 😁 Can‘t wait to dig into this book and look at this kick ass Pop every day! Thank you, thank you! @Jee_HookedOnBookz @kstadt929
This was so good! I wish they had more books in the series and that Leigh Bardugo was writing them.
I‘ve always loved the stories about the Greek god and the Amazonian‘s. It was so great to hear more stories and I loved Alia! I especially loved her friends Theo and Nim. ❤️❤️
Diana travels with an awkward teen, her dashing overly masculine brother, a quirky best friend, and a quirky other friend. A bit overcrowded and definitely to many cute, quirky moments.
Also, weird choices for the timeline: set in current time, but time moves faster on Themyscira, and Diana is still young, so by the epilogue, it's 20 years in the future and she's still nowhere near being Wonder Woman. I hope they aren't planning a sequel...
Been feeling pretty cruddy the last couple of days. Spending as much time as possible resting. But, I have devoured this audiobook in just a couple days.
Loved this on audiobook. #MountTBR
You guys... I cannot get enough. I'm past the half way mark and I don't want it to end! I also want to skip Batman and move right onto Catwoman next. 😂
You made my day @eyelit thank you so much. I enjoyed unwrapping everything and thank you for taking the time to wrap everything. It almost brings tears to my eyes that you spent so muchof your time. This was my first bookish swap and will definitely do one again thank you again :) hope you have a wonderful day.
Thanks @BookishMarginalia for hosting
An all round solid and often delightful #YA origins novel about #WonderWoman aka Diana Prince. I loved how focused on female friendship it was and how the two other main girl characters were of colour (and one queer to boot!). (Actually the boys are POC too). It felt very feminist and centred on girls sticking up for each other which I loved. Great character development, humour, and a focus on empathy and compassion as forms of heroism.
What I really wanted from the recent Wonder Woman movie was more time spent with the women on Themyscyra and no men, which are two things this #YA book is giving me so far so thumbs up. (I mean, I'd also like explicitly queer and women of colour characters, let's see if that happens).
I know I said I have no more room and that I was waiting for a sale. I... lied? (As the book title says, Sometimes I Lie)
Thanks to my brother, who funded this purchase with the gift card he gave me for Christmas, and to Book Outlet, who threw a $5 coupon code in with my Boxing Day order.
Thank you @Avanders for all of the fun items that came with my #SFMBC book. The coffee and hot chocolate look tasty and the books all look good! I sent mine out today to @Endowarrior21 . I also sent my #FeedaReader package to @Pamwurtzler and the #LMPBC book to @Madamereginald
My top books I have read this 2018 year no particular order and not including books on my Kindle
Thank you so much @EH2018 for your amazing Christmas presents!! Your card brought tears to my eyes on this Christmas morning because I could feel the Book love flowing through it!!
To be honest, I actually know absolutely nothing about Wonder Woman‘s story, and I still have no idea how to pronounce the island that she‘s from. BUT that doesn‘t mean that I couldn‘t get wrapped in Leigh Bardugo‘s wonderful writing and enjoy her take on Diana. I haven‘t read the rest of the D.C. Icons series yet, but if they are anything like this one I‘m sure they will not disappoint.
I was skeptical reading this book because it was novel about a well known super hero with so much history already. I chose it because the Goodreads rating was good and saw it in an article. Plus, I like the authors style from other books. This book was GREAT! The characters were well written, the action and humor was so well balanced and well placed and the twists were very good. Reads like a good fiction novel not a comic book trying to be more.
I‘m pretty sure Diana, aka Wonder Woman, could bite any bullet without problems. But when trouble arrives on her island, she has to decide whether to be #BitinTheBullet and go against her mother and island rules, or whether to ignore a man in need.
"Because the whole world loves to tell us what we can‘t do, that we aren‘t good enough. The people in your own house should be on your side. It‘s the people who never learn the word impossible who make history, because they‘re the ones who keep trying."
@hermyknee is my favorite person/litten/friend EVER!!! Even though she is the one who worked so hard for our #TeacherCarePackageSwap she still sent me a little gift! Thank you for this delightful treat—I can‘t wait to dive in! And thank you for being my friend—you are such a wonderful person, and I am truly blessed to know you! #ReadingFriendaAreTheBestFriends #ThankYouGift
This is the first book written for the DC superhero series and I picked it up bc of the authors writing them and bc I love Wonder Woman! It was a really cool take on the origins of Diana and about her figuring out who she is and where she belongs. I can‘t wait to start Batman next. If your a fan of DC superhero‘s or just love this authors work, this is a defiant pick up!
