pickThis brutal, dystopia story follows Wonder Woman after she wakes from a cryogenic sleep to a barren Earth. As she tries to put together the pieces of her memory, she struggles with her torn allegiance to humans and her sisters. Great story well written, with stunning art that reminds me of Paul Pope.
I found so much in this last set I was super excited about. Prisoner of Azkaban was $15, but because I got so many it was FREE! Then the Dear America‘s are really hard to find. 😍
so-soThis was entertaining enough, but a little disappointing overall. The Batman/Elmer Fudd issue rightfully got the most attention, but the Wonder Woman/Taz issues was also fun, and the Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian was a good idea, if a little lazy in execution. Lobo/Road Runner was overly silly. Johan Hex/Yosemite Sam was overly serious. Legion of Superheroes/Bugs was just bad. The 8-page looney comics were also bad.
pickWhen my kids were younger, we loved the Marvel and some DC superheroes. But I‘ve never wanted to read a superhero book. I tried the tagged book solely for #authoramonth. It‘s easy to believe an extraordinary author wrote this one. Diana is young and not battle-tested. She innocently and with a big heart saves the Warbringer from drowning near Diana‘s island, bringing risk to her own home and the world. So of course now she risks all to try to ⬇️

pickTom King and Daniel Sampere have a bold new take on Wonder Woman. One of King's most surprising devices is to make the narrator the antagonist, a new villain called the Sovereign. Sampere's art is awesome, depicting Wonder Woman as gorgeous, but not sexualized, powerful, but not hulking. More than supervillains, Wonder Woman faces the rot at the heart of America, a festering brew of toxic masculinity and patriotism.

This book is perfect for young girls to read and will be inspiring for them to make mistakes and not be stopped by challenges. Very empowering and inspirational!
