32% into this audiobook. I have a book club to go to for it on Thursday so I need to power thru it quickly. But I feel pretty good for being about a 3rd done. Got a lot of steps in while listening to this too.

Over the past few years, I have realized Mary kubica is one of my favorite authors and this book just reiterated that even more! What a rollercoaster of emotions! I just finished and I‘m still trying to process! So suspenseful, but not too slow paced or too fast paced! I honestly did not see the ending coming and you either love it or hate it and I loved it!

I WILL finish this book tonight! It‘s so good that I‘ve stayed up late two nights reading as much as I can and have had to work two twelve hour days so far and haven‘t gotten a lot of reading time in, but I just NEED to know how it ends!

I think this may be the first fiction audiobook I ever finished, thanks to my new audiowalk and a little inside listening as well. This started out strong but unfortunately disappointed me by the time it ended. It was enough, however, to get me out to do my #LitsyWalkers audiowalk Day5 (I think it‘s day 5🧐)

Kaye Good for you Missy ! Maybe you‘ll find another audio you like better for your next one. 5 days in a row. You‘ve got this ! 8mo
DarcysMom I have found her books pretty hit or miss, in general. 5 days in a row of walking is awesome! 8mo

Kaye Missy, you‘re hilarious. Your comment that that was not your street , but 2 blocks away. Proof that you walked. 😂. I trust you. I don‘t think you just stepped out the door and took a picture down your street, then went back in and laid on your couch with a sack of cheese corn. 😮 8mo

Please pardon the photo. Forgot to take a pic on my walk.

Meh. 🤷🏽‍♀️ that‘s how I feel about this book.

I don‘t think I was in the right mood to appreciate what was going on in this book. I found myself skimming paragraphs that were repetitive. I was very tempted just to read the last two chapters to know what happened.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

#whodunitbymail

JamieArc Have you read other Kubica books? I‘ve only read one (a different one) but was pretty underwhelmed and wanted to skip forward too. 8mo
That-Bookish-Hiker @JamieArc I‘ve read two other books by her. I liked one and the other one was pretty underwhelming for me and had me skimming paragraphs as well. 8mo

Told in alternating perspectives of Clara in the present day, and Nick leading up to the accident, Every Last Lie accelerates in pace and suspense, but ultimately it stalls a little at the end. Unfortunately with this ending, Kubica negates all of the suspense and build up she so masterfully weaves throughout. That being said, I would still recommend this book as well as Don't You Cry and The Good Girl.

Standalone, psychological thriller - tale of marriage & secrets. Clara world shatters - her husband and 4 year old daughter are in a car crash, killing Nick, Maisie unharmed. Clara searches for answers which take her to dark places she would never want to go. Suspenseful page-turner, twists and turns you don't see coming. Kubica's books are addictive as the ending you expect is not what you get. Recommend to those who like psychological thrillers.

#TBRtemptation post 5! Clara's world turns upside-down when her husband, Nick, dies in a car crash. Their 4-year-old daughter, Maisie, was unharmed, though has night terrors afterward that get Clara thinking that the crash may not have been an accident. Her search for answers will lead to secrets, deceit, and and further collapse of the life that her and Nick had built together. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

I did enjoy this page-turner of a read, but I don‘t consider it to be a thriller. It was actually an examination of a woman's journey through the many stages of grief. It was also an exploration of how keeping secrets can affect a relationship. My main issue with it was my frustration with the characters & their lack of good judgement. I vehemently disagreed with many of the choices they made, especially with the ones that involved young children.

JoeStalksBeck Yeah this one wasn't as good as her others 2y

Having read all of Mary Kubica‘s books, this is my least favorite. It was a decent read, but I found Clara annoying and naive pretty quickly. For me, the level of suspense was minimal and I wasn‘t hanging onto the edge of seat.

Finished last week but didn't review😬Pretty solid mystery/thriller-though leaning more to the family drama side of things. Clara is mother to a 4-year-old & a newborn when her husband Nick is killed in a car crash. Based on something her daughter says & things that don't add up, Clara believes Nick was murdered & becomes obsessed with investigating. The dual POVs of Nick & Clara work well-but I did want to shake them both for their poor choices.

Kubica wrote a suspenseful thriller. There were so many "aha" moments but my heart was pumping. I don't want to say too much and give it away, but I wasn't a huge fan of the solution to the mystery. However, the last paragraph had me trying really hard not to cry on the subway!!

This mystery was quite a roller coaster ride. The chapters, told by alternating characters, really added another level to the suspense. I kept telling myself " just one more". Each chapter added another layer to the mystery and I never did guess how Nick was killed or by whom. The irresponsibility of the characters became very annoying, but it did not get in the way of a heart pounding ending. Great book choice @Bklover ! #whodunitbymail

This was today's late lunch/ early dinner & blog post for #soupersundays I turned Ina Garten's Mexican Chicken Soup into a vegetarian Hominy & Bean Tortilla Soup--satisfying & full of good flavor (and with fried tortilla chips & feta on top). 😋🍲📚Here with one of my current reads on library e-book. I'm only about 10 chapters in (not much reading time this weekend) 😬 but I'm liking it so far. Link to soup recipe with my changes below.

Texreader I must try this recipe!! I love hominy but never get a chance to eat it. Mmm. 2y

JaclynW That looks so delicious! (But what is hominy?) 2y
DebinHawaii @Texreader @Bookzombie Yes I always think I should eat more hominy because I like it so much. 😋🌽❤️ @JaclynW It's basically dried corn that is alkalized & soaked until it gets soft and puffy chewy if left whole or it gets ground into meal. This explains it better than I can: https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5515126 😆👍 2y
Texreader @DebinHawaii I enjoyed reading about hominy. I ate it with salt and pepper as a kid and in pozole (also mmmmm) as an adult but had no idea it was used to make masa for tamales! I feel like such a better Texan now! @Bookzombie 2y
Bookzombie @Texreader @DebinHawaii I enjoyed reading about hominy too. My mom made it with a sort of cheese sauce that had a little chili powder in it. I considered it one of her "treat" recipes. I'm going to have to ask her about it and write it down. 2y
DebinHawaii @Texreader @Bookzombie Hah! Glad I could help. I was looking for a good way to explain it & saw the article. My dad loved hominy and my mom sautéed it in lots of butter with salt & pepper-so that's how I grew up enjoying it. @Bookzombie Your mom's recipe sounds really good. If you write it down & don't mind sharing, I'd love to try it. ? 2y
Texreader @Bookzombie Id love that recipe too! @DebinHawaii sautéed? Sounds yummy! 2y
