Had a lovely weekend away camping. Didn't get much reading time in but I did finish this. It was ok nothing special and not as good as her previous book.

⭐⭐⭐

JoyBlue Bummer! I was hoping it would be at least as good as the first. 5d
my.books.in.squares @JoyBlue it didn't feel very original. It was pretty similar to 'The Cheerleaders' by Kara Thomas and I wasn't a huge fan of that either. You might disagree though, be sure to let me know what you think once you read it 🙂 5d

I am going camping at a loch for the weekend and looking for book suggestions (fiction) to take away with me.

The tagged book I know is set in the woods but as it's a horror I would like something lighter/fun (just incase) 🙈

Thanks in advance.❤️

Bookwormjillk I would take something long, multigenerational, and sweeping like The Thorn Birds 1w

Guys.....

I have never read any of Stephen King's books, mainly because I don't know where to start.

I would be ever so grateful for your recommendations? 🙂

Naj Start with Carrie. It's his first, and it's short. 3mo
Marilyncjackson I love Misery it‘s creepy and cool 3mo
Beatlefan129 I recently read The Green Mile and I loved it. It‘s sad but beautiful 3mo
See All 11 Comments
j9brown Seconding Misery, so creepy and unsettling, one of his classics, but not intimidatingly huge like some of his others. 3mo
DaveGreen7777 “The Eyes of the Dragon” is a good one to introduce yourself to King‘s prose. It‘s dark fantasy rather than horror, but it‘s one of his shorter ones and it showcases his poetic way with words. If you want to start with horror, I‘d recommend “The Shining”. Not quite as long as some of his other books, and it‘s sooooo good! 😱 3mo
TrishB Do you want traditional horror, fantasy or thriller? 3mo
whippoorwill815 Such a hard question! I always suggest The Green Mile (my fave), The Shining, Misery, 11/22/63 (but this one is a beast), Pet Sematary, Revival.... 3mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Some people start chronologically. I started with The Tommyknockers..not really a good place to start, I let a few years go by, and tried 11/22/63 when it was first published, that book hooked me on to SK. Then IT, then ‘Salem‘s Lot. I love his social commentary. 3mo
OneCent76 Green Mile for sure. I liked reading Carrie too. And his book On Writing was very interesting! 3mo
Gina I vote... 3mo
flying_monkeys Usually if someone is asking me for classic King horror I go with Carrie or ‘Salem‘s Lot. But you can‘t go wrong with one of his collections. I find him scariest in short form. @DaveGreen7777 “Eyes...” is my fave King!! So few people think to recommend it. (edited) 3mo

Tianarose If you want to read the by publish date start with Mortal Instruments, then the infernal devices, then the dark artifices. If you want you could also read chronologically: ID, MI, DA. 4mo

Shley9225 Honestly I always just say read in the order of publication 4mo
my.books.in.squares @Nevermore88 No. This is the only one I've read. 4mo
ShyBookOwl I had no idea the order was so complex. I only ever read the first one. 4mo
Nevermore88 Omg!! Okay!!! Before you go any further you should read clockwork prince, princess and angel. It‘s the infernal device that‘s before the mortal instruments. Once you read that you will understand the rest of the series . 4mo
Nevermore88 Oh! And the characters and backgrounds 4mo
Nevermore88 Now that I‘m reading previous comments I didn‘t know that was the order if it is. Lol. If anything just look it up. The way I did it was infernal device first cuz it goes way back. But no matter how you do it happy reading! 4mo
BooknerdsLife @my.books.in.squares According to Cassandra Clare, one should read the series in its publishing order, but to make it easier, it‘s the first 3 books from the Mortal Instruments, then the 3 books of The Infernal Device ,& back to last 3 books of the Mortal Instruments so you can avoid most of the spoilers. And after all these 9 books, you Must read the Bane Chronicles!!! 🤗💙💙Happy Reading 🙌🏼💓📚📚 4mo
