It's a weird fluke that I picked this up on the first weekend in a while where my mental health was just horrible. It's less about time travel and more about a murder mystery, how complex relationships get with time travel, and how businesses and companies handle mental health. It's a medium to slower pace so it may not be for everyone and it's definitely not a high sci-fi time travel book but I did really enjoy this.

I read my first Madeleine Roux book!

This was actually pretty cool. I enjoyed most of it. I listened to the audiobook to start while I was driving and it's northern Canada and October so naturally it was pitch black and foggy outside which only added to the ambiance.

I'll definitely pick up the next book. It's weird and odd but in a good way and I liked all the characters and the mystery. The ending deal with the Devil has me really curious.

Okay so I am HAPPY to say that this was a REALLY satisfying series ending for me. Authors just struggle so hard with doing that but this worked for me! I don't honestly think there's much to review. I loved that we focused on Audrey and Thomas more in this than any of the previous books. I loved that we saw the switch to America during this innovative time period. I liked the romance drama and the murder mystery was fun.

Looking for an analysis of US WW II poverty and women/girls? Frankie is by far my favourite character in the whole book but I found it interesting that all the other women characters represented all of Frankie's option as she grew up: marry for need, be boy crazy, nun, or go against the grain and it's the mental hospital for you. Her father is particularly garbage & the book is kinda depressing but an honestly interesting read

This was actually quite an interesting concept and plot but despite it being barely 300 pages, I feel like it could've been cut down to a novella and that would've built the suspense. I also did find the ending to be somewhat anti-climactic. The conflict of being cut off from the literal EARTH thinking World War III has erupted is absolutely terrifying but then the ending took a pretty traditional trope twist and I just went “...oh...that's it?“

The upside to having no physical energy: I finished it! This book has been hyped the hell up to me everywhere. I don't necessarily think it is mind blowing, it's a very strong debut which I enjoyed the romance and magic of. Plus there was a lineage reveal which I'm always a sucker for.

I can sort of see why people are loving or hating this book. I felt frantic and panicked for most of this but I think it influenced my experience of reading really well. I trusted no one and I props the author as a debut for being like “let's just kill everyone!“ none of this “magic/science loophole to bring everyone back to life“ crap. Just kill everyone! I mean it's been compared to Lord of the Flies so...

This was a pretty interesting read which is a lot more political than I thought it would be and it really does make you think how we are going to handle a world so hell bent on rolling back rights for LGBTQ+ people. The main character wasn't my all time favourite but he was bareable.

Okay so we're REALLY commited to the "kill the minority trope" apparently. Why do authors do that? This isn't an old book. Once again, cool world, grey but enjoyable characters but totally ruined by the murder

Much more Gossip Girl-esque than I remember. I took a issue with who is murdered as it falls into that "kill the minority" trope that I cannot stand being used. The world and tech is school and a lot of grey yet likeable characters.

This was a very political intrigue...y? (that's a word, right?) sci-fi! I think it struggles with pacing in parts and the plot became a little fuzzy to me at parts. There was a very clear disconnect between the political background of the world and the world of the characters which...I don't know if that was done on purpose. I hope the sequel will give a new POV to fix that. It was like the Lunar Chronicles but no POV of a worker

I've never thought of Edgar Allan Poe as a teenager. I just assumed he came out as a wild looking 40 year old misunderstood pioneer author. I think this book struggled a bit in spots in terms of pacing and plot but overall still an enjoyable read from Winters.

I legit do not understand how Cat Winters isn't more popular. She always writes books that are pretty creepy with some historical fiction helping me learn about the time period. The mystery is always good and her female characters are so well crafted. I always feel my heart clench and pout when I read the ends because it hurts when the books end. This is a very Cat Winters book and I just loved it. Perfect for October

Everyone seems to have hated this book so I figured I should just get this done and then move on to the rest of my awesome TBR.

Scochrane26 I liked it, but I think people didn‘t like the ending. But, I knew it wasn‘t the traditional fantasy book when the 2nd did all the lily story, so people shouldn‘t expect a traditional happy ending. I‘m still undecided about the ending—it definitely isn‘t as bad as Allegiant, IMO. (edited) 3w

Join a diverse as hell crew as they time traveling to stop a group of dudes from making edits to the timeline to destroy women's rights. Not only focusing on cis women but also transwomen and non-binary. The whole idea of purposely changing somethings but with the goal being a very specific change is...like that would be SO HARD! Rep galore: Chinese, Korean, Black, Jewish, transgender, F/F romance & non-binary cast
