A literary western mashed with horror and historical fiction.! Yup, it‘s bonkers but it works so well.
Creepy, atmospheric and a glimpse of the old west. Enjoyed the audio narration.

Picked this up on #Scribd after reading a review from @Megabooks - Im liking it and it seems really appropriate for today #MothersDay 💜👩👧
#TitlesAndTunes #ReadingTheAmericas23 #Antigua This book was phenomenal 🙌🏻♥️My first time reading Jamaica Kincaid, I completely understand why she‘s an iconic Caribbean author. Her prose are lyrical and melodic, every word like an island breeze warm and rhythmic. A semi autobiographical coming of age story told in snapshots over the course of several years. The theme often repeated is the intense love/hate relationship between mother & daughter.
Here‘s my (not quite short enough!) shortlist for the #womensprize. The list is in approximate order best to worst, but I just can‘t decide on 2 out of 3 for the final 2 places. Each time I figure it out, I don‘t want to lose the other one!
Pod was so awful I‘m booting it off the list completely. I also wouldn‘t mind if the Pin or Patel made it on to the list.
The actual list will be the complete opposite of course! (And Pod will win!) 🤣
Need an in-between book before #BookSpin for April is picked. Just looked to see if this was on #Scribd and it is. Has anyone read it before? What did u think? I don't think I've read a time travel book. Also I don't know if I will be able to finish this before the 2nd of April. It's like 13ish hours. *Weekends are family time*
Took this idea from @BarbaraBB and decided to post my #52Books23 challenge progress 😊
I‘ve read 44 out of 52 prompts 😌I‘d say MOST were picks with very few duds🤩
“Perhaps one day… there will be a safer time, when women could walk the Earth, shining bright with power, and yet live.”
I adored this witchy tale about the strength women can possess within when they allow themselves to find it. It weaves 3 stories over 4 centuries, and I loved the way it all came together, especially in the second half of the book.

I can appreciate the writing in this book, from the #womensprize long list, but the subject matter was all just a bit..well..grubby for me. The MC starts work at an indie cinema that soon gets bought by a multiplex and the behaviour of her workmates matches the filthy carpets, the overflowing toilets, and the recycled popcorn of the cinema. Be prepared for lots of bodily functions, sex and death. A light pick only.

#ToB23 #shortlisted This was an interesting study of a family dealing/living with grief/loss.
It‘s short on action but long on character study. While this book was good, I‘m not sure why it made the shortlist🤷🏼♀️
This was my last book from the shortlist - looking forward to discussing with the tournament crew.
