The moment I spotted Red Rising on one of our student worker's desk and it led to a great chat about contemporary vs classic, how it's ok to not enjoy Tolkien's writing, the diverging threads of the Enderverse, and good ideas vs good execution in books. Wrapped up by dropping recs of Dark Matter and Vicious because those are my ultimate go-to titles, this day is a SUCCESS!

pickThis is a gripping read. It's flawed in many ways, but also action packed.
pickI liked this book but didn‘t love it. A little too graphic for me. Reminded me a lot of Hunger Games. I probably won‘t read further. Still, it‘s a good book if this type hits your fancy.
pickDarrow is the best protagonist I‘ve met in a long while. I love him. Red Rising is tough in a way that authors usually shy away from. I came into this 100% blind and bought the ebook because of positive reviews. As soon as I finish writing this I‘m getting the rest of the series. Pretty sure this will be on my favorite series ever list.
Starting this as I chauffeur kids to karate and VBS. I‘ve heard good things about this one.
pickFinished the first part of the Red Rising trilogy, which was a reread for me, as I seek to read all three parts of the Red Rising Trilogy. A very enjoyable read, and I feel I picked up much more on this occasion, than during my first read of the book. Now keen to quickly continue with the trilogy. If you enjoy fantasy or dystopian books I strongly recommend reading this one.
pickDidn't care for the first part, but picked up and part 1 was needed for the rest. Ends up being part Enders Game, part Hunger Games, part Gattaca.
Good if you like action combined with mild political intrigue and are okay with a matrix-y infodump providing most of the larger world context.
Strong dislike for just killing a female character as a way of driving the male lead. She was less character, more plot device and was disappointing to read.
I‘m rereading book 1 in the Red Rising Series as a preliminary to reading book 2 and 3 in the series later this month.
pickMy reread of this proved to be better than the first time I read it! The audiobook wasn‘t going fast enough for me so I pulled out my paperback and finished the book this morning! I‘m looking forward to finishing this series now that I have had a refresher. What will happen to Darrow, Mustang, Cassius, Sevro, The Sons of Ares, Darrow‘s Family.So many questions. I think this would make a good TV series, wonder if that will ever happen!? #SeriesRead
I have been listening to Red Rising on audio as a refresher since it‘s been awhile since I last read it and there is so many things I had forgotten, like Titus and Sevro. I also forgot how much I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I‘m looking forward to reading the rest of the series! Pierce brown is an amazing author(and also very cute😂)! Are there any other Red Rising lovers? If you haven‘t read this and enjoy sci-fi, check this out!
One of my 2019 reading goals is to finish books in a series that I have already started. I enjoyed the first book of this series so much!!! I‘m relistening to it on audio before I move on to book #2 because I know there is a lot that I have already forgotten. If you are into sci-fi you will love this. This book is so amazing! I‘m going later today to buy the second and third book. Darrow is such an interesting character who goes through some wonderful character development. All of the characters have such substance and personality. Can‘t wait to read the next one!
This first book of the trilogy, set on a future planet Mars, is certainly #outofthisworld .

Books are better read outdoors 🌤 Also I forgot how good this book is! The character development, the plot, the writing style, the message about society and our perception of freedom.... if you haven‘t read this book, I highly recommend it
pick⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book was definitely gripping, to the point that I jumped right into the sample of the next one to see if it was worth finishing the series. I would highly recommend it if you like books that are well written, well rounded, and that you can't get ahead of.
Sweet baby Jesus...I can see why people get the Hungry Games vibe...BUT...this book is pure gold (pun intended) I've nearly finished the first book in one sitting. I just can't get enough.
This book is pretty amazing. I can see The Hunger Games undertones but it's not so overbearing to the point that it feels redundant.

pick23-2019 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ My First Fantasy Science Fiction!! Love the characters and the world building I found myself comparing it to The Hunger Games in places. Rest of series is now on my TBR #sciencefiction #fantasy
I got my hands on this one due to the fact that it showed up via happenstance on Litsy. It's got mixed reviews, they lean more towards good. So far I'm really into it. It does give off a Hunger Games Fanfic feel to it, I hope this one doesn't turn in to a carbon copy like The Mars Room did with OITNB. I will say, while I understand the dialogue I wish it wasn't so redundant. Seems every character opens their mouth and it's the same one talking.
panThe violence and brutality that seems to come out of nowhere in this book really disappointed me. I‘m not sure why it bothered me so much but it‘s enough to not want me to continue the series.
pickGrabbed me from the start and didn‘t let go. I‘d call his a dystopian plan to overthrow for a better world, with a little bit of love story. Loved the characters and storyline.

pickThe whole book is a sprint towards the end. Do I think it‘s perfect, no, but, boy oh boy was it fun. Totally kept me guessing as I had no clue where the book was going.
