I am super proud of my kiddo - she earned her Bronze Award today. She and two sister scouts planned, fund raised, and filled birthday boxes for Together We Rise, a nonprofit that helps foster kids.

wanderinglynn Congrats! That‘s awesome! 🎉🙌🏻🥳 3d

In my life as a mom of three bada$$ wrestlers, #myshot is a 2 point take down. My son, in his senior year, and final tournament, was not going to miss his shot. He continued to wrestle with a shoulder injury (that we soon after learned was a fractured scapula) to earn points for his team, and not go down without a fight. And by some miracle, he won!
@Cinfhen @vivastory #musicalnewyear

Cinfhen #ProudMom #RaisingBadAssDudes woohoo!!! I don‘t know how u stomach wrestling??!? I don‘t think my mom heart could handle it!! 4mo
BookNerd9906 @Cinfhen lol, I cried the first couple of matches, now I‘m the mom on the edge of the mat screaming “take him down.” Like all things parenting, you acclimate. 4mo
Cinfhen I hear you #GoBigOrGoHome 😘😘 4mo

Amiable My oldest son was a varsity wrestler in high school--it really is amazing how quickly you go from "oh, I hope he doesn't get hurt" to "smash him into the mat!" ? 4mo
BookNerd9906 @amiable lol. Absolutely. 4mo
vivastory Great post! 4mo

After the History of Magic/Harry Potter exhibit we went downstairs to the DiMenna Children's museum (which is great btw)... they had a reading area/library set up and my 9 year old grabbed the tagged book and got comfy and read the entire graphic novel all the time saying he loves libraries and books! #proudmom #raisingreaders

CoffeeK8 My son loves the whole Nathan Hale series, great books! 4mo
tpixie How great you‘re ‘growing‘ a reader!!! ♥️🥳📚 4mo

Slajaunie I love hearing about young people who love to read. I sometimes think reading is becoming a lost art among young people. 4mo
Jerdencon @tpixie Yes... it‘s part of the NY Historical Society museum. It‘s small but really great. 4mo
tpixie @Jerdencon the website looked great!! 4mo
kspenmoll How wonderful! That space looks so inviting! It is great to hear of young readers! @Slajaunie ! 4mo

My son‘s school had a book fair fundraiser at B&N today, so of course we went and bought a stack! He had so much fun browsing the shelves. He‘s my little book shark! 📚🦈

MallenNC I wish the schools my friends' kids go to would have book fundraisers. I'd be much happier with that than wrapping paper! 5mo
saresmoore Best fundraiser ever! 5mo

britt_brooke @MallenNC 😆 Thank goodness the we have to sell are coupon books (which I hate). This is part of a monthly program where a local business partners with the school and donates a portion of sales back to the school. It‘s pretty cool! 5mo
britt_brooke @saresmoore It was fun! There were a couple of story times plus the school chorus sang Christmas carols. 💚 5mo
KarenUK @britt_brooke @saresmoore it‘s one of my favorite things about working the Holidays at B&N.... we‘ve had a book fair fundraiser every night for the last 2 weeks.... last night all the kids wore pajamas, we served cookies and hot chocolate and read the Polar express for storytime, and there was lots of carol singing... 💕😍 5mo
huntersmom1977 Gives me such hope for humanity when I see young children reading. Kudos 😊 5mo
saresmoore My gosh, that sounds wonderful! @KarenUK 5mo

Not book related but I gave up three reading hours today to watch my daughter earn her junior black black! 180 pushups, 225 sit ups, over a mile run, and too many kicks to count! Super proud! #karatekid #proudmom #supergirl

Did not get any reading done today! I was to busy being proud if my tiny dancer. Recital was today. 9 costumes, 9 dances, 2 shows and 1 tired girl! Just had to brag a little. #proudmom

JoScho How adorable! 9 dances! That is a lot to learn and remember. 11mo
MicrobeMom @joscho thanks! She works very hard! 11mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Wowza! Our granddaughter was dancing her multiple recital shows too. But nine numbers is truly fierce! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 11mo

I‘ve been eyeing the tagged book for a few weeks now and finally broke down and bought it along with a couple of others. I had to have the Grace Byers book for #TheKid and she picked out “We Belong Together” for our still gestating bookworm. She‘s gonna be such a great big sister when #TheBaby gets here. 😭💕✨

So having sent two kids to college, this is what they‘ve shared. “#Thunderstruck is an awesome drinking game, where the AC/DC song is played. You all sit in a row. When “thunder" is said the first person has to chug their beer until the song says "thunder" again. Then the next person has to drink. This is repeated until the song ends.” #LiveandLearn #ProudMom #HigherEducation⚡️? ⚡️?⚡️?#GetMovin

TiredLibrarian Well, some learning has been taking place! 🍺🍻😳🤪😂😂 12mo
Cinfhen My thoughts exactly @TiredLibrarian 🙌🏻at least they are learning 80s music 🎵 12mo
BarbaraBB Lolol, #proudmom 😂 This could be me in college 🤩. Luckily I have my kids still at home 😅 12mo

julesG Well, there are worse drinking games. My friend recently proposed to have a "Schnaps" (basically any form of strong liquor) every time one of the children shouts "Mama". We'd all be pissed before noon. 12mo
LeahBergen I‘m glad to hear you‘re benefiting from all that tuition you paid. 😆 12mo
Cinfhen #TRUTH @julesG and that‘s what I tell hubby @LeahBergen “Money well spent” 💸💸💸💸💸 12mo
Kalalalatja And here I thought Danes were the hardcore drinkers 😄 12mo
Cinfhen Underage college kids beat all @Kalalalatja 🍻🥜🥨 12mo
Kalalalatja @Cinfhen well, Danish teenagers have been forbidden to travel to certain European cities on so called “Drinking vacations”, so I would say we are pretty high up there 😄😄 12mo
julesG @Kalalalatja Like Hamburg? I have to check whether it's still the case, when I was a teenager, we could buy beer at age 16. 12mo
julesG Yep, checked. Alcoholic beverages resulting from yeast turning sugar into alcohol, like wine, beer, champagne, can be bought from age 16 in Germany. Any other alcoholic beverages from age 18. 12mo
TrishB And they shared this information!? 😁 12mo
eanderson I‘ve never taken part in the game but have watch it happen! Lol! I use this song for hovering in the arrow position and standing and sitting when thunder is said. Lol! It‘s fun and I‘ve had a few people mention doing the drinking game while ryding! 12mo
Cinfhen Wow 😮 @julesG that‘s SUPER YOUNG!!!! That sounds like fun @eanderson although, I‘m NOT a fan of “jumps” 😖Yes! My kids thought their dad would want to know @TrishB 12mo
Kalalalatja @julesG same in Denmark. And no, I was thinking about Prague, there have been some accidents with kids killing themselves because they fall from balconies while drunk, and they behave ridiculous in general, so one year Danish students weren‘t allowed to go to Prague. 12mo
britt_brooke @Cinfhen I‘ve never heard of this drinking game. At least it‘s beer and nothing harder! @eanderson Ouch! One of my spin instructors sometimes uses this for a 10-round tabata ride. It‘s sucks but not as much as hovering! 😆 12mo
ElishaLovesBooks I am not ready for this! 🙈🙉 It‘s hard enough raising high schoolers! I need all the 🍺🍻 just to parent them!! 12mo
julesG Keep in mind, there are parts of Germany (*cough* Bavaria *cough*) where beer is considered a staple food and may even be drunk at work. Yes, there is binge drinking and some kids have to be hospitalised with alcohol poisoning but it doesn't seem to be as excessive as Spring Break reports we get from the US. (I might think differently in 3.5 years, when my son turns 16). 12mo
julesG @Kalalalatja - Yes, Prague. I have heard of it. Alcohol is cheaper there than in Germany. I guess the only way to regulate alcohol consumption would be to tax alcoholic beverages higher. But that would put a large damper on a whole industry here in Germany. 12mo
Cinfhen Ahhh, Oktoberfest @julesG yes!!! That slipped my mind...but 16 is still young, at what age can they drive??? 12mo
jenmoody23 @ElishaLovesBooks I agree. These teenagers are something else. My husband says the only reason we‘re still parenting them is because it‘s the law. 😂. I dread the college days! 12mo
julesG @Cinfhen Depending on the Federal State, either 17, but under supervision of a driver whose 25 years old, at least, and has had their license for at least 5 years; or 18 without any supervision. Supervision period would be one year. 12mo
Cinfhen Prague had a VERY sinister vibe when I visited @julesG @Kalalalatja I‘m pretty sure a couple was trying to roofie my husband & I at an outdoor concert ~ they kept offering to pour us drinks and asking questions about which hotel we were staying ~ we just got weird vibes from them...and all the guide books warned tourists about fake Uber‘s and other scams 12mo
Cinfhen In the states kids get their permits as early as 15, most 16 so the thought of kids driving and drinking is super terrifying @julesg 12mo
julesG @Cinfhen I know a lot of responsible kids, who assign a DD before going out - it used to be me, back then, because it meant the others would buy my soft drinks and I could safe money. 😉 I just hope my kids turn out the same. 12mo
julesG The typos 🙈🙈🙈 12mo
Cinfhen It‘s part of growing up, letting your kids drive and trusting that they have enough sense to make good decisions @julesG 12mo
GatheringBooks now i feel so deprived i didn‘t get to experience any of this. boo. 12mo
Reviewsbylola This makes me so glad I‘m an adult. 😂😂 I was never much of a drinker. 12mo
