Well this was certainly different than my usual reading material. At times I found it very funny and relatable, other times I found it kind of uncomfortable. I admire the author's openness and honesty. 3 ❄❄❄

This was such a relatable book and so easy to read. Finished it in a day and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I loved the illustrations throughout the book and several of the stories made me literally laugh out loud. Not all of it was funny, some was more introspective and less interesting to me.

Allie Brosh is hilarious and can have you cracking up within pages of opening the cover. She also has the bravery to talk about things that should be talked about more: mental health in particular. To be able to do both at the same time makes this work so very approachable.

I wanted to read Allie Brosh‘s first book before diving into Solutions and Other Problems. She tackles serious subjects, but manages to do so in a way that is both honest and hilariously funny. And there were so many things I could relate to!

I did knock off 1 ⭐️ for Chapter 2 and the repeated and problematic use of the word “retarded” to describe one of her dogs.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brosh effectively combines humor and insight to convey her experiences with clinical depression. She‘s raw, honest, and self-deprecating in a way we can all relate to. Her deliberately rudimentary illustrations add lightness to often darker stories. Plus, they‘re funny as shit! The facial expressions. The dogs. I just can‘t. This was a #reread, and my choice for my IRL #bookclub. This is a new medium for my group and they‘re loving it!

Finished! 🧩 This 1000-piecer called “Book Club” was frustrating, but fun. All the book titles are parody. The person who looks most like me is reading “The Snatcher of the Pie” which is perfect since The Catcher in the Rye is a favorite. 😂

Planning my IRL book club‘s April read. None of my #bookclub friends, most of whom I‘ve known since kindergarten (class of 2000, holla!), have ever read a graphic novel/memoir, but are game to try something new. Love them! This is a #reread for me. Looking forward to it!

Finally read this one as I wait on the holds list for her new book, and it was just as delightful as I remember her webcomics being back when I used to read them! Her chapters on depression are incredibly well done, and her essays about her dogs and her and her sister's childhood antics had me giggling.

This was a re-read before I read Allie‘s new book that is her follow-up to this gem. Her stories are absolutely hilarious, and the combination of her storytelling and her illustrations had me laughing hard. She also covers some mental health topics, and her point of view was refreshing. I must say that I enjoyed this book more this time compared to my first read.

So much fun! 😄

Loved this!! Halfway through, I ordered her new book.

Her description of depression is exactly what I went through in 2017-18. I just got sad then numb for no reason. I also once had a “simple dog,” and I loved and related to every bit about her fur kids. I‘m excited to read Solutions and Other Problems when it arrives tomorrow. Highly recommend!

Laughing out loud while reading isn't something I do often. Typically I have a silent chuckle to myself. All of these books made me draw crazy looks from those around me while I was reading because I kept laughing. 😀

All three of these authors write frankly about their depression or mental illness, yet also see the lighter side of life. And all 3 had me cackling like a crazy person. I highly recommend them.

I can‘t wait for the tagged author‘s new book, which I believe is released this month.

The beginning of my depression had been nothing but feelings, so the emotional deadening that followed was a welcome relief. I had always viewed feelings as a weakness—annoying obstacles on my quest for total power over myself. And I finally didn‘t have to feel them anymore.
But my experiences slowly flattened and blended together until it became obvious that there‘s a huge difference between not giving a fuck and not being able to give a fuck.

Slowly, my feelings started to shrivel up. The few that managed to survive the constant beatings staggered around like wounded baby deer, just biding their time until they could die and join all the other carcasses strewn across the wasteland of my soul.

1) It by Stephen King. I‘m afraid it will change my view of clowns. I grew up watching Bozo every morning. Also Pet Sematary - it just hits too close to home, lol 😻😻3) hundreds 4) Girl Wash Your Face- I‘m sorry I couldn‘t get past the part where her then boyfriend now husband dumped her and she took him back. I‘m trying to stay away from that mentality. Plus she had easy access to a lot of stuff some people don‘t. 4) anyone! #wondrouswednesday

This book was awesome and hilarious! The dog chapters are a must read and her depression and identity chapters are really well written and very poignant. The cake and hot sauce chapters were crazy but omg the talking toy parrot?! hahahahahahahah

A mixed bag for me. I think I would have liked this a lot more if I was a dog person. All the stories about dogs did not amuse me at all and just cemented my general dislike of dogs. But a few of the pieces made me laugh out loud, and I really liked the ones about depression. I wish there was more about depression, actually. I also appreciate how much emotion she can express in the simplistic computer paint drawings.

The art in this didn‘t speak to me, but the humor was spot on, and the narrative sections were very well written. This was poignant and insightful at points in that way that only humor is allowed, and I found myself relating to the narrator a great deal. If you‘re interested in picking this up, don‘t let the thick spine fool you; it‘s an incredibly quick read.

The simple graphics and bold colors, with the twisted wit and humorous outlook made this one of those books you will turn to when you need to be reminded of the hilarity of life.
