⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lauren‘s attic keeps delivering her new husbands, and lives to go with them. She has to decide whether and how long to keep them and when and how to finally stop the cycle. Interesting to think about how to approach deciding whether to keep a fully formed life when you know all you have to do to reset it is send your partner into the attic and get a new one.

My first finished book of September, I finished this one for #FictionalTraveler #September #EnglishSpeaking & September #Roll100 #77 #AnyBOTM Overall, I enjoyed this one, although it drug in parts. The unique premise of an unmarried British woman who comes home after her friend‘s hen party to find she‘s married & her attic keeps “replacing” husbands with no end in site. Lauren made some choices I judged & thought over-the-top but ⬇️
I meant to read this one next month, but I picked it up and it just pulled me in. There are two things I dislike about this one. First, there's a big in-world inconsistency that I can't get past, and then there's the somewhat saccharin message, although I like how it ends, plot-wise. Those things aside, though, I quite enjoyed reading this fun and creative novel. #tob25longlist
Playing around with mocktails to enjoy while reading. Today I'm reading about a magical, husband-producing attic while drinking the "Apero Spritz" by AF out of Laguna Beach (and maybe originally New Zealand). A little too orangey (reminds me a little of Orange Crush), but the bitterness is nice, and it otherwise replicates an aperol spritz well.
May has not been a good reading month for me. I have admittedly had a lot going on which may be part of it, but this is another DNF for me. The story just didn‘t grab me really at all…
So excited to see this getting adapted for the small screen and thrilled with casting Juno!
The premise is that Lauren is single but coming home from her best friend's hen night (a little worse for wear) she finds a strange man in her flat. Turns out he's her husband; but when he goes into the attic, a different husband comes down, and Lauren's world is a bit different (paint, carpets, books).
Ridiculous premise but has me laughing.
Read this one (I'm not even halfway yet)
I loved the first 2/3 and the very end but the last third dragged and I kept wondering how it was going to end. It's a cool idea, though, to get a look at all the lives you could have had, had you made different choices along the way.
A book, a cuppa, and a quiet house (for a while). Ahhh Sunday, you're the best. 💜
I loved this funny, original novel. Lauren finds that her attics is producing an endless supply of husbands. I don‘t always love supernatural elements but this works because it‘s integrated so well & Lauren keeps us grounded in the real world (contemporary London). She‘s an engaging character with a dry sense of humour & we‘re on her side. Raises questions of sliding doors, how to choose a partner & what makes a good life. Coming up on the pod 🎧
Loved 🥰 it best fun Iv had reading a book for a while , like Bridget jones but with lots of different husbands 🤣
I didn‘t walk today, but I did finish The Husbands. It was an interesting book with a unique premise. I wasn‘t in love with the ending, but it made sense for the book. Here‘s little George by herself and with our old boy, Cow. He‘s often grumpy, but he likes her.
No walking today. We went to the samurai exhibit at the History museum downtown, and the city‘s Christmas tree is now a Mardi Gras tree. I‘m reading The Husbands in ebook format. Interesting premise: a woman‘s attic provides her with a husband she never had, then she discovers she can get a different one every time she sends the current one into the attic.
Finished my first book for #auldlangspine and last book for #wintergames2024
I really liked this one but was a little bit disappointed with the end but overall it was an interesting read.

This was discussed as a recent read on the episode Cozy Reads With Megan and Alyisha in MA on the podcast. I found it a delight. It was compulsively readable and a fun idea for a book.
I know it‘s not officially January #auldlangspine but the library hold expires in 7 days so starting this one a few days early before it disappears from my kindle. @MallenNC @monalyisha

This is such an odd premise, but it was fun to just go along with it and see what would happen. There are some tense moments, but overall this is an amusing look at relationships, the thing that makes us happy and the things that annoy us.
And two more while listening to The Husbands. This book is fabulous so far!

I sort of went into this blind, and I think it was all the better for it. The premise was really unique, and it was both fun and oddly profound. While I had some hopes for the ending that didn't pan out, I think it had a satisfying conclusion. Would recommend.

11-30-24: My 45th finished book of 2024! Lauren gets home late one night to find her husband waiting for her. Problem is, when she left that evening she wasn‘t married. Can you imagine an attic that delivered you husbands? It‘s kind of a nightmare. I kept waiting for her to wake up but no, it was a magic attic. As Lauren cycles through husbands she learns a lot about herself most of it not great. How many should she go through? How can she choose?
Catching up on my reviews. This is so funny and has such a great premise. A woman‘s attic keeps sending her new husbands, one at a time, but in a steady stream. How is it happening? Should she keep one or keep sending them back to the attic? I don‘t want to say much but this one made me think about why, or why not, do we decide to spend our lives with one person? #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I liked the audio narration for this one. It‘s definitely a different book type for me. I thought it was an interesting & different type of story. I wasn‘t crazy about how the book kind of just ended. I‘m not sure if there‘s some kind of message about marriage or finding the right person.
After seeing so many mixed reviews, I was hesitant to read The Husbands, but I ended up enjoying this a lot. I do wish we got to spend more time with some of the husbands, but I also thought that the frequency and reasons why Lauren changed them so often made sense. I found this both humorous and a little bit thought-provoking.

The main character discovers that she had a magical attic that generates new husbands and new lives. She has to decide if she will always be looking for the perfect one, or if she will ever pick one and commit to that husband and that life. It was an interesting premise and well written! A good read.
1. Funny, self-sufficient, contented
2. Dependable, loving, thoughtful
3. Lauren in the tagged book. She kept returning those husbands until she was happy with herself.

Just off hold at the library and I am so excited!!!! 😆
Book 28 of 2024! This one has very mixed reviews on Goodreads, but I couldn‘t put it down and was satisfied by the conclusion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I feel like the messaging was finally made clear in the second last chapter, but it was a long, repetitive journey. There were some chuckles for sure along the way, but there were also too many instances where the character did something too outlandish to believe, even under the groundhog day type loop. I was surprised I finished it. The last chapter being in a different pov was weird, too.
Toby and Maryam are her perfect match, her proof that two imperfect people can make something work, something straightforward and good…Just two people who are happy with each other 🪜
The perfect Shetland evening, with a book, a dram, and tiffin from a cake fridge (Shetland caked-based honesty box).
This hotel reminds me a bit of Gladstone's.
I wasn‘t expecting the husbands to start right off out of the blue so that shocked me. Mid way through there is another shock/surprise and then the end also 🤯 I enjoyed it and I think it would be a good bookclub pick
This was much more fun than expected.
Each time Lauren‘s husband enters the attic, there returns a new one. An seemingly endless supply of husbands is at hand for Lauren. She takes her time to ask herself what she wants from marriage, a man, and herself.
Holly Gramazio has written a very original story that made me laugh and think. #ToB24
It‘s raining, might as well start another book
I‘m about 100 pages into this and it‘s a fun, light read so far. I don‘t usually like alternate reality books (they freak me out!) but the main character isn‘t taking things that seriously as her life is changing with each different husband, so I‘m not stressing about it either. Having a chill moment with Zoe but then I need to buckle down with packing… not my favorite thing but I need to power through so I can move to PA and start my bookstore!
2.5 🌟 Audio recommended by local bookstore. Interesting premise. I was interested every few chapters, but it dragged on to me. Took too long for Lauren to figure things out, then I didn‘t like the “just reset the world by sending the husband up” while she‘d judge them by one thing. kept waiting for a connection for the best person. I‘m single and don‘t feel any more pushed to marry by looking for the “right man”. Rushed end.
Lauren gets a new husband whenever she sends one into her attic. I liked this easy summer read. I also liked how Lauren learned more about herself & how she‘s living her life as each new husband enters her life. Good audiobook narration.
This was my August #DoubleSpin book.
Lauren returns home from a night out to discover a strange man in her apartment. He knows her name and seems to believe he‘s her husband…? He eventually goes up to the attic and another “husband” returns. Lauren has a magic attic! Can you imagine? Sending a husband away when you are ready for another?? Punchy, British, witty, highly entertaining but with heart. I really loved this and it‘ll be a standout for my summer reading of 2024!
Reading while one boy is in his tutoring session and another practices his sight words at the university library.
Spent the entire weekend at The Hoop Project (street basketball tournament) watching my oldest ball it up, with the help of this entertaining book. I‘m loving it!
Ps — his team took the championship! 🏀
I really enjoyed this! Its premise is so clever and I totally bought into the idea that a magic attic provided a seemingly endless supply of husbands. I thought the way changing husbands also changed her life was so interesting to think about. My only small complaint is that there‘s never any explanation for why this was happening to her. But I just went along for the ride.
We all read a lot of books and, when you do that, it often starts to feel like there aren‘t many original concepts to read about. THIS was definitely original! It starts abruptly and ends just the same, and I‘m not sure what the purpose or meaning of it all was supposed to be, but it was an interesting ride. I‘d definitely read more from this author! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I did the audio version, which had quite a good narrator. I don‘t think I would‘ve enjoyed it as much in print.
The premise of a new husband emerging from the attic whenever Lauren sends the last one up is frothy fun, and this is a good light choice for a summer read.
