Finally finished with this book. It could have been better. All the characters were unlikable and I didn‘t understand Robin‘s significance in this story, at first. Now I understand what her purpose in the story was. The story had a lot of twists, but parts of the book were boring to read. The best parts of the book were the middle and the end. The ending was ruined for me, though, because I read someone‘s spoiler on the internet. 😤😭😭

cemsreadingcorner Other than that, the book was okay. It definitely spooked me, which is great because of what time of year it is. 👍🏼👻🎃 (edited) 3w

Finished Social Intercourse by Greg Howard. Now I‘m reading Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney. Great book so far. I‘m 73 pages in and I‘m enjoying every moment of it. It‘s about a couple who‘s having marital issues because the husband has a condition called Prosopagnosia, which means he can‘t recognize faces. So, the couple is struggling. The wife doesn‘t want to feel invisible anymore. They took a weekend trip to Scotland to save the marriage.

This was recommended to me and thrillers aren‘t my favorite genre. This one took a hot minute to get into but eventually I looked forward listening. I thought the twists were clever, but too far fetched or too many for one story?! Overall it was an okay read. #Pop23 ~a book about a holiday that‘s not Christmas (I‘m going out on a limb, using the British definition of holiday)

SamAnne I felt the same. 3mo
squirrelbrain Nothing wrong with our definition of holiday! 🤣 I did the same thing for this prompt, anyway….. 3mo

Three POVs and letters from the past was a lot to keep track of and Feeney overhyped at least one thing that she was trying to plant seeds for but enjoyable nonetheless

Book 9 for #14books14weeks2023

ShyBookOwl I keep starting and stopping this one within the first chapter 😕 3mo
janeycanuck @ShyBookOwl the first couple of chapters aren‘t great, everyone feels like sullen teenagers 😬 3mo

This book was crazy. Like every chapter ended with something vaguely ominous, it was kind of ridiculous but made me keep reading. I actually did NOT expect the twist and was like WHAT. I thought it was really clever how that panned out. This was a solid fun thriller ⭐️⭐️⭐️

For the last few months, I‘ve been adding a two page TBR to the beginning of each months spread, and I‘ve found that whenever I‘m not sure what to pick up next, I just start the next book on the list. I‘ve never finished a TBR, but I generally read about 40-50% of them. Many books have been on my TBR multiple months in a row, and are still unread 😂

Here‘s a look at my upcoming August TBR.💜

Wow!! For me this was a 5 star book!!! It was twisty and suspenseful! I really thought I had everything figured out, but in usual Alice Feeney way I was wrong. I would recommend this book to anyone!

The kind of book that makes you want the weather to turn stormy and dark so you can hide away and read it. If you‘re looking for a smart well written thriller full of twists and surprises (and a dog) then this is for you. The face blindness condition is unique and interesting. @Cathythoughts tells me Brad Pitt has it

This was my second time listening to this audiobook. I think I loved it even more this time. This is an excellent book! There are many surprises along the way. Just when you think you know what‘s going on, surprise! It‘s not what you think. It‘s one of the best thrillers I‘ve ever read. It really keeps you on your toes.

4/5 ? This was my first Alice Feeney and I really enjoyed it ! The story kept me intrigued, not knowing how it would end. I do wish that it had more substance, more action. And there were too many cliché one-liners. Overall a good read though

What a wild book. So many twists and turns that will keep you intrigued and make it hard to put down. Some points started to become predicable once you figured out certain information. I wish the ending was a bit different? To be it seemed a little forced or totally unrealistic given all that has happened.

Main win: the dog wasn‘t harmed in any way.

3/5 🌟

The first half of the book was good, but then it just got too frustrating with too many twists and secrets. I liked this better than Sometimes I Lie but I don't think I'll be reading another Alice Feeney book.

I finished April with a thiller. This was a fast easy read. Page Turner that left me wanting more thrillers in my life. I saw some of the twists and turns but not all and it wrapped up nicely. Left in a book hangover so trying to decide what to read next.

I was able to finish the last hour of this audio shortly after this little dude joined the world! Ethan surprised us a week early so he didn't give me a chance to finish the book before!
An entertaining read that has a few twists and turns- it's funny though, I didn't really like any of the characters, none of them seemed particularly "good" or anyone I feel empathy towards.

I love Alice Feeney and I loved this book. This thriller about a couple trying to save their marriage at a remote chapel in the Scottish Highlands really packs a punch. I loved the plot devices of anniversary letters never shared, words of the year, and traditional anniversary gifts. The secrets and twists were shocking and the remote setting amped up the sense of foreboding. I love being creeped out by this woman. Keep it coming, Alice. 5⭐️

This book pulled me right in. I was intrigued to know what happened. I loved the ride and I love the way the author can twist her words to make you suspect nothing, and you never know who you're actually rooting for. But that ending knocked it down a star, what the fuck was that!? 4/5

This has major “Misery“ and “Shining“ vibes. When a couple wins a winter-getaway, they soon discover it is not at all what they were expecting. As things slowly go awry, the couple begins to think someone has lured them here to fulfill a sinister plan.

An amazing read that has you hooked from the first page! It does pick up during the last 20% and speeds right along. If you want something that feels spooky but not scary, this one is for you!
