Rare mid day hour to myself! #readingwesteros #fellowshipoftolkien
The Karstarks have come to Winterfell, Robb is managing being Lord Robb & planning to aid the Tullys against the Lannisters at The Neck. Bran is getting around with Hodors help & asks to go to the godswood & prays for the safety of his family. He finds Osha there who helps him hear the old gods & talks of giants (& worse) beyond the Wall. She tells Bran that Robb‘s men should be marching North, Bran says he will tell Robb, but misses the chance.
The bodies Ghost found belonged to the men who rode with Benjen. The Watch inspects, the bodies aren‘t decomposing & they have blue eyes.
Word comes that the King died& Ned has been charged with treason. Jon attacks Ser Thorne for calling him a “traitor‘s bastard” & is locked up
Jon wakes in the night. Guard is killed. He follows Ghost to Lord Mormonts chambers & finds an intruder… 1 of the dead men. Jon saves Mormont, burning the reanimated man.
Sansa is detained with Jeyne Poole during the fighting. she asks for Cersei or Joffrey repeatedly & is finally brought before Cersei who tells her that her father is a traitor who tried to steal the crown & that she couldn‘t letter her marry Joffrey. “But I *love* him!”
She decides that she has a better chance of getting a pardon for her father if she does as Cersei says & writes letters to the Tullys & Robb.
& forgets to ask about Arya entirely
Arya is having her “dancing lesson” when the Kingsguard comes for her. Syrio at once knows something is amiss. Syrio takes on the knights with only a stick to allow Arya to escape.
Arya runs to find her father but finds only more carnage. She runs, recalling all of Syrio‘s lessons, but when she is almost captured, she remembers only Jon‘s “stick him with the pointy end”.
She makes her way to the crypts so she can go through & home to Winterfell.
I wanted to change up the fan art I have for my posts #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros Since King Robert has now passed on there is going to be a lot of changes. Joffrey is demanding to be king, Cersei tore up the last wishes of Robert, and Littlefinger is showing some true colors… or cowardice I‘m not sure yet. What a transitional chapter. Honestly, I don‘t really want to stop reading now. 😅 @5feet.of.fury
Today‘s #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros was with Jon. They got their assignments and Jon was surprised to be a steward. Sam encourages him that they are likely planning to make him a leader. Another mystery is upon them as Ghost finds a hand! @5feet.of.fury
Jon, Sam & others being promoted get their assignments. Jon is upset that he‘s not picked to be a ranger &instead assigned to the stewards. He is picking fights when Sam suggests that Jon is likely getting groomed for leadership. As they head into the godswood to say their vow, Ghost gives them a hand. …literally.
Well, I didn‘t like Robert as king, but I didn‘t want him gravely wounded! Ned is to take over when Robert passes, but the king also doesn‘t know he doesn‘t really have heirs either. Littlefinger is getting into Ned‘s head on making a future for his kids. What is Ned gonna do? #GOTChapteraDay #ReadingWesteros @5feet.of.fury
King Robert returns from the hunt gravely injured (by a boar, or treason) & leaves Ned to rule until Joff is of age.
At the end of the chapter Littlefinger tells Ned “you wear you honor like a suit of armor, you think it‘s protecting you but it‘s weighing you down”
There are even more examples of this here, as he declines to tell Robert the truth of Joff‘s paternity & gives up advantage over Cersei dispute Renly‘s protests.
