Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2) | 
pickOne of the book clubs I run at the library wanted to read the first Harry Potter book last year. Most people in the group are older retired teachers who had never read the book before. They enjoyed the first one so much that our first book club read for 2026 is the second book.
Jim Dale does a great job with the audio. And I enjoyed my reread of this one. I will once again discuss all the issues with Rowling as a person at our meeting, though.

This was my first book haul from Bookman‘s in Tucson a little closer. The illustrated Harry Potter books were only $25! 🤯

1. During Ren faire season I need it to tip all the performers.
2. Yes in the series. Malfoy comes from money & was raised to use it to get what he wants. Harry grew up poor & uses his money carefully & with purpose.
Ex: The Malfoys buy the entire quidditch team brooms so Draco can be seeker. When the Firebolt is first released, Harry can't imagine spending the money to buy it when he has a perfectly good broom.

pickSo, this week I went to the second Harry Potter audiobook on my daily commute. Somehow listening to it feels like Christmas even though it is one whole year again. But hearing about Hofwarts and the Gryffindor common room creates a cozy feeling. And Dumbledore‘s craving for a cup of hot chocolate does its bit as well. ☕️☕️☕️
pickCarlos Ponce has great tone and the acting skills to portray all of the characters and his voice pitch for Hermione always makes me giggle while his tone for Snape, always makes me pause to listen. Bless whoever had the idea to have him narrate this in Spanish!
Still a solid read all these years later, even if I do not like or agree with the author's comments and persona.
pickForgot how much I loved this one! We meet some great characters in this novel, including Lucius Malfoy, Arthur Weasley, and of course... Dobby!

This weekend is the start of my major reading season, and my and the boyfriend's anniversary (11 years and we haven't killed each other...yet)! #SciFiSummer is going strong until the Autumnal Equinox, but #RIP starts on the 1st, which is also #BackToHogwarts day. pickThis is always my least favorite book of the series, but this time I appreciated seeing Harry‘s first trip to the Burrow. I love how he immediately feels at home and makes Ron understand that he shouldn‘t be embarrassed by it. Fawkes is the other highlight. Harry would have been killed in an instant without him. It‘s also the book where Harry feels confident (at the end) about his placement in Gryffindor.

I love how Molly Weasley loves all of her children, biological and not!
It was the summer before first grade and I caught my son sitting on the floor reading the tagged book with his nightlight. He was itty bitty and so cute. I had to make him go to bed but how do you punish a kid just starting to read with his nightllight? Loved this comic for that reason

Perhaps the early book most connected to the ones that come later in the series, it was fun to point out all the moments of “oh that will be important!” as we did the first half of our drive home from FL to IL.
It‘s been great to revisit so many loved characters & places.
1. No. My husband has tried to teach me at least once a year for the last 14 years but I just can't seem to get the timing right on releasing the clutch.
2. I could only think of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The Ford Anglia was featured a few times.
As I was going through my list if books I live, very few have cars in them. They walk, use spaceships, horses, ship, etc. 😄

1. No. My parents did have a manual transmission for a number of years but they got rid of it a number of years prior to I learned how to drive.

1) I learned to drive on a stick shift. My favorite manual driving experience was an old truck with the stick on the column. It was a blast to drive.

Did some hiking today with my youngest since this is her fall break & I had the day off work. We are all a bit sad that the beach wasn‘t in the cards for us this year so we decided on this fun nature walk/rock climbing adventure today! The drive was 1.5hrs each way so we loved listening to HP2 all the way there and back! I love that she is so into HP now! Especially since she‘ll turn 11 this year 😏

Hi Litsy Fam I wanted to ask your opinion on reading. My boyfriend and I have been debating on whether Audiobooks are still considered reading. He believes listing to audiobooks is not considered a form of reading because you are not the pages if a book. Would you mind sharing your opinions on this?

Funny fact I received my first Harry Potter book when I was 8 as a gift from my uncle. He gifted me with “The Chamber of Secrets”. This book has a special place in my heart because it opened me up to the magical world of Hogwarts 💙
