My new love. ❤️
I don't think this is a book i could bring myself to read again as it is so heartbreaking, but ot was interesting to find out more about the Wests crimes.
R.I.P to all of 11 victims and to the two unborn children and baby that were also murdered 😞
That's all i feel able to say to be honest..
I have read up to chapter 6 and so far this book has done nothing but disgust me and make me want to shake the nasty images formed from my head away...
I knew the basics of Fred and Rosemary Wests crimes from watching several documentaries on what they done, but what those poor children, and Mae in particular in regards to this book, went through is so heartbreaking and worse than i could ever have imagined! 😞
Must admit I'm pretty annoyed that Priscilla is back in Hamish's life, i think him and Elspeth were definitely better suited for eachother. Funny how story lines change opinions book after book, i used to be so desperate for Hamish and Priscilla to be together.
I did love the clever plan Hamish had of starting a fire in a metal bin to save Elspeth from being murdered by Paul! Very creative!
I hate reading a book only to realise halfway through that it is part of a series and it's like the last one 😭 Now i feel obliged to wait until i have the other books in the series and start from the very beginning how the author intended it to be! 😩
Sorry JoJo! The part of 'Still me' i read was fantastic, but i can't carry on until I've purchased and read the first two in the collection 😞
Todays purchases! 😍
Just a few easy reads to pass the time while i wait for my next library books to come through ☺
The only story in the world that could make an arachnophobiac cry 🕸
The copy of the book i posses was owned by my father when he was a little boy and it was published in 1963
I got brought this set of books by my father when i was about 7/8 years old, and i only completed reading the collection this year at the age of 21!
I enjoyed the stories for the most part, I did find 'The horse and his boy' quite a drag to get through out of all of them, and i think the one i enjoyed the most was 'The silver chair.'
I didn't expect the books to end how they did, though it should have been expected due to the religious aspects.
My overall rating of the book is a 4 star. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The 1st part, 'Good Days' wasnt overly exciting and it did get a bit tedious. I agree though with many others, the haircut scene was very sweet.
The 2nd part, 'Bad Days' was very heartbreaking, it made part 1 seem worth the read for sure.
The 3rd part, 'Better Days' i think rounded the story of too fast. I would have liked to see a little more into Eleanors future and to know more about her mother.
'More important, it was about creating a plan to provide for them in the future so we didnt have to live paycheck to paycheck'
Never thought i would experience what this feels like but I'm currently going through this myself right now and it's so difficult to not give up trying.
An absolutely beautiful real life story!
It's been fantastic reading about the life before, during and after Chris Gardners homelessness in the film featuring Will Smith.
I have a whole lot of new found love for this man that i didn't have before! What an inspirational person to follow in times of poverty and struggle!
Reading this definitely gave me hope for my little world and family. ❤️
This story was one of the most interesting ones out of Hamish Macbeths murder mysteries! I do so feel bad for Hamish's lack of a love life though 😂
I'm going to have to read the next several books as eBooks 😭 Oh i dislike reading books that i can't hold and feel and smell.. 💔
Another fantastic title in the Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries series! M.C Beaton definitely knows how to make one chuckle even when writing about murders!
AND HOPE FOR HAMISH WITH ELSPETH?🤞
COME ON HAMISH, FIND LOVE PLEASE! 😭
At first i found this book gripping, it made me laugh in places and i thoroughly enjoyed it, but.. about halfway through the book, it seemed to get boring. The footnotes were longer than the chapters sometimes and by the time i had read the notes I'd near forgotten what Lucy was initially writing about..
Maybe it's because I've not been well and distracted, maybe if i took the time to reread it i would enjoy it all, but for now I'll leave it..
I found this to be the saddest Hamish Macbeth book yet!
It was completely different to the usual way these books are written and it definitely did grip me and kept me wanting to read more!
I felt so sad for both Hamish and Olivia in this book, and i do hope that Oliva makes an appearance in the other titles. And i SO hope that Blair finally gets found out for his backstabbing ways!
This is the first 'True Story' i have read before!
I wouldn't say i enjoyed the book, as it was quite a touchy subject and i suppose it would upset certain people that may have been through a domestic violence relationship themselves but it was very interesting to read about the ladies story and her struggle and how she is now!
I think this book is suitable depending on if you like non-fiction/true stories.
Publication date; January 1, 1942
Another lovely purchase 😍
I found this book a little more tedious than the other Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries!
It was written slightly different to the other books in that the body of the 'charming man' was not found early on in the story, there was no definite proof he was even dead until the final two chapters when someone finally admitted to the murder.
This book made me feel sad as well because Hamish and Pricillas engagement came to an end ☹️
I truly believe this will be as good as the film, if not better! 😍
Probably one of the most popular novels by Charles Dickens, this book definitely inspired me to read more of his works! I can't wait to read the next title i have chosen from his works, 'The old curiosity shop'
This is definitely a book everyone must read atleast once in their lifetime! Such a wonderful story of what a little less bitterness and hate and a little more love and generosity can do! ☺
This is a well known classic, that i believe everyone should read atleast once in their life!
Personally i have read this so many times that i am happy to not read it again!
But it is a story full of such wonderful creativity with some very strange characters that i think is great for any age range! And since there are copies written for younger audiences there is no excuse to not know this story!
What a fantastic novel!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Although the story is quite heartbreaking, there's a glimmer of happiness and hope for the second generation and the possibility of a brand new world!
I really loved how M.R. Carey portrayed the virus and how it takes over, it had a very realistic outlook which could even make it seem possible.
On a different note, i was just beginning to like Sergeant Parks then his part in the story came to an end.. Gutted.
