What is life if you can't treat yourself to a new book and some flowers once in a blue moon? 🤷‍♀️🥰

Q; Has anyone read 'The Reckoning: John Grisham'?
If so what are your reviews without giving me TOO much of a spoiler! 🙈

I felt a great sympathy for Jeremy and his two daughters after the loss of Lizzie.
It stuns me everyday how things such as Lizzies murder happen everyday around the world, for no apparent reasoning. It's a very cruel fate and a very sad thing to have to go through as the family of the deceased and it must have been very emotional for Jeremy to bring forth all the memories of Lizzie while writing this book.
A very brave thing to do!

What a delight this was to read! 🥰
This story takes us through Emmeline Lake's job working for Henrietta Bird (Agony Aunt) and ending up doing a better job than her! It also tells us of her new found relationship with Charles and her best friend Buntys fiancé, William, dying in an air raid which temporarily breaks their friendship apart; (I can't help but blame Vera for his death..)
It made me well up in places, but made me smile in others!

I can not rate this book enough! 👏
I've always loved Tom Hanks as an actor with the many roles he has played, and i can safetly say he's turned out to he an incredibly imaginitive author!
Several of the stories in this book have left me utterly emotional and i am so glad i picked it up from the library!
I would 100% read this title again!

What an incredible, inspiring, brave woman!
How amazing that she became paralysed yet STILL tried to follow her dreams of horse riding. I'm just sorry that in the end she did have to give up her love of horses but the strength and determination it must have taken her to try again was incredible!
It would be an honour to know this lady personally.
Can't rate this book any less than a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fantastic story line in this one!
How amazing that a different wild cat still saved Hamish and Freddie!
I'm so glad Hamish and Lugs finally got the real Sonsie back though! 😍 And quite a sweet ending for Hamish getting himself a pretty policewoman working for him! ☺

I can't wait for the next Hamish Macbeth Murder Mystery to be released! Death of a love, I'm waiting! 🥰

Although it's written in the perspective of a father, and I'm a mother I still managed to relate to Brian's parenting trials and worries!
A thorough mixture of emotions were felt while reading this, some feelings me and my partner and yet to sense as our children haven't reached teenage years or adult life yet, but a brilliant read!

Only have one more to go now until I'm up to date with the Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries! 😍
Another brilliant piece of work! Looks as though Hamish and Elspeth may rekindle things? 🤞 I didn't expect it to take the turn it did regarding who the murderer was though! Usually the murderer is in the story early on but it wasn't the case with this story! Lovely read though, great plot and always a few laughs in the story that lighten it up a bit! ☺

This wasn't as exciting as the last two Hamish Macbeth books in regards to the murders etc, but i felt so sad for poor Dick losing his first real chance at love, and all because of Blair! 😡
And Hamish, bless him, trying to make amends with Elspeth only to be shot down and told it won't ever happen.. ☹️

Another great read, but there were unfortunately several aspects that got to me this time!
I found myself getting very annoyed at Heathers character and the way she always managed to constantly escape, and just as i felt elated at Hamish finally getting engaged to Elspeth, Elspeth messes it up..

I adore Dicks character in the book though! It's been nice to see Hamish finally happy enough to share his police station!

So this was written a bit differently to the other Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries but i found i enjoyed the style better!
I liked the fact the murder was committed in the first chapter as an opening to the story instead of halfway through like the other books in this series, and i found the story line very gripping but easy to read!
This one is definitely a 5/5 from me!

I could relate to Nats situation on such a deep level!
Not only did she have to move back to her parents as an adult (me too) she also has a bad phobia of vomit (me too) and she always puts herself in the 'what if there was a zombie apocalypse' situations to plan her life out (also me)

This was such a funny read and i would definitely recommend it! ☺

I'm so happy for Hetty and Ivor! 😍
I'm overjoyed for Matt finding love again!
And I'm thankful that Kate finally got her son Luca back after all those years!

Out of the 34 chapters i have read so far, I've only enjoyed 2 of them.
Matts college flashback when he was smoking pot was hilarious and as much as i don't like Kate i felt happy to find she kept Callums baby.
Overall, i can't see the point in the affair between Callum and Kate, there wasn't any romantic build up between them to suggest they was inlove and i just see Kate as a homewrecker and i feel so sad for Matt, Belinda and all their children

I thought this book was written at a very rushed pace for the first 7 or so chapters, with brief descriptions and short snappy sentences, very unliks most of M.C. Beatons work, but I was very happy with how it came together at the end!
I especially liked the idea of Blair having to wed Mary/Ruby as a punishment for what he done to Hamish! Finally some payback 😈

(Unfortunately it was an eBook.. 😭 My one hate with reading)

I don't think this is a book i could bring myself to read again as it is so heartbreaking, but ot was interesting to find out more about the Wests crimes.

R.I.P to all of 11 victims and to the two unborn children and baby that were also murdered 😞

That's all i feel able to say to be honest..

readingjedi This sounds like one of those books I want to read but don't want to read at the same time. I remember this being in the news & the horrors just kept coming & coming ... 😢 3mo
Clutterbucks_Queen The only thing about this book that annoyed me slightly was they didn't regard as victims the full term babies that got killed while the mothers were at the end of their pregnancies with them. 3mo
Clutterbucks_Queen It is really sad, and quite sickening tbh. There is a lot of sexual abuse that went on from parents to children that is horrific 3mo

Must admit I'm pretty annoyed that Priscilla is back in Hamish's life, i think him and Elspeth were definitely better suited for eachother. Funny how story lines change opinions book after book, i used to be so desperate for Hamish and Priscilla to be together.

I did love the clever plan Hamish had of starting a fire in a metal bin to save Elspeth from being murdered by Paul! Very creative!
