This has been on my list for a long time -- I used to beat myself up about being behind on reading certain books, but I believe books come into your life for a reason, at certain a time. Or maybe that's just my excuse... Anyway, looking forward to this read!

I can't get through this one. The protagonist is awfully annoying. It seemed like a fun read, given to me by my grandma, but I don't think I can spend anymore time with it.

The Keep | Jennifer Egan

"This was how the worm got in. You opened yourself to that kind of thinking and the worm crawled inside you and started to eat and didn't stop until nothing was left. You saw yourself as a weak powerless guy and it was only a matter of time before everyone agreed you were that guy."

But Danny felt good. Too good, almost. Not because he didn't like feeling good -- who doesn't like feeling good? Because some little part of him didn't believe he could feel this good. It seemed too easy. And because of that, there was an anxious feeling in Danny's gut, a wobbly feeling, the kind of feeling that makes you worry (even though you feel good!) that something bad is about to happen.

Beginning this book today. I'm one page in and already want to start highlighting. Have you read it?

A great sorrow, and one that I am only beginning to understand: we don't get to choose our own hearts.
