A book with a #OneWordTitle from my TBR
The publishers blurb sounds intriguing:
“This blood-chilling debut set in New Mexico‘s Navajo Nation is equal parts gripping crime thriller, supernatural horror, and poignant portrayal of coming of age on the reservation.”
so-soI'm sure there is a reasonable conclusion hidden in the art, but I've never been one for deep analysis and interpretation. I had a hard time deciphering the symbolism, and was left disappointed in the conclusion. Beautiful, creepy, good concept, but ultimately too vague for my liking.
pickBook 15 of the year!
I absolutely loved that right from the beginning, it was easy to imagine this story about a boy and the graveyard that not just saves him but allows him to grow and learn from. I was entertained by y the additional amount of spirits, ghouls, and specters that Gaiman intros us to.
Gaiman narrates this story and I love that he narrates most of his books because there is something quite magical in how he reads them.
pan⭐️ I have read this author before and enjoyed the books I read. I didn‘t realize this was her first book when I chose it. All I can say is I‘m sure glad this wasn‘t my first book of hers cause it was plain awful!
pickA queer ghost is haunting (= falling in love) with George Sand in an abandoned monastery in Mallorca. It‘s creative, literary, bittersweet and definitely worth reading.
1: Strangers/All of Us Strangers - my all-time favourite film, which is one of the few I can say, without experiencing that niggling book-blasphemy feeling, is better than the book.
2: Stardust - I loved the book so much, but the film has a totally different vibe, which I preferred.
3: Good Omens - technically not a film in this case, but an incredible series that is far superior to the book, I think.
