I think this is my final list for #bookspin #doublespin and #HauntedShelf. Heavy on the horror/mystery/dark academia, but Jane needs to stay in there too if I have any hope of finishing my goal for the year. I'm still trying to figure out #HauntedShelf since it's my first time, but it sounds fun!

Greetings littens! I've been away for a while because life has been life-ing. The biggest development has been that I moved a few months ago. The move happened on short notice so the transition took a lot out of me because I did it mostly on my own. I'm living downtown now so I've been spending a lot of time out enjoying what the city has to offer. Pictured is where my books are living until I put new shelves up 🥲

I really enjoyed the audible audio for this book.
I had seen the film and was looking forward to the book, but they made it even more engaging and tense than I anticipated.

The house on the marshes cut away from the quaint farmers town by the tides is a perfect setting for a ghost story. And while there is no over the top ghostly activity it is all the more chilling for it. Especially once we learn the true consequences of the haunting.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I haven‘t read the book or seen the movie but really recommend seeing it on stage, if the opportunity arises. It manages to raise the tension so high, mostly through anticipation. 7d

Although this book was published in 1983, Susan Hill wrote it like a true Victorian/Edwardian author would. I checked multiple times because I had trouble believing it was only written 42 years ago. I love the premise of the ghost story, but it took too long to get to the point. Plus, her writing is something to get used to as you‘re reading. The ending was NOT what I expected though. I would still recommend for the overall story.
