1st to Die
1st to Die | James Patterson
As the only woman homicide inspector in San Francisco, Lindsay Boxer has to be tough. But nothing she has seen prepares her for the horror of the honeymoon murders, when a brutal maniac begins viciously slaughtering newly wed couples on their wedding nights. Lindsay is sickened by the deaths, but her determination to bring the murderer to justice is threatened by her own personal tragedy. So she turns to Claire, a leading coroner, Cindy, a journalist and Jill, a top attorney, for help with both her crises, and the Women's Murder Club is born.

Found a box set of books 1-3 on Libby yesterday! Finished this one today - a twisty, creepy murder story. The perpetrator gets close to the bride and groom shortly after the wedding and murders both. Lindsey is diagnosed with aplastic anemia…

I have not been a JP fan for many years but this book has been sitting in my Audible account for a long time and I didn‘t want to see it in my list any longer so I decided to tackle it.

Finished it today and that reinforced for me that I am still not a JP fan. I wavered the entire listen whether it was going to be an 2 or 3 star rating; then I came upon a crap ending after sticking w/the mediocre story, so 2 stars it is. Also, terrible narrator.

@Clwojick shared her StoryGraph #MostReadAuthors this morning so of course it made me curious about mine. Thanks to the Women‘s Murder Club series James Patterson and Maxine Paetro top the list. Since I‘m only half way through the series I assume they will continue to dominate in 2022.

jb72 Goodreads used to have that feature. I miss it, but the last time I checked my most read author was Dr. Seuss. 2y
Clwojick I bored of the majority of James Patterson series quickly, but the Women‘s Murder Club is definitely the best! I have to get back into it, as I‘m only 10 in and have 13 to go! 😆 2y
Clwojick Just checked out my most read authors of all time, ans James Patterson won with 137 🫣 I always forget how many books he‘s written. 2y
ShananigansReads @jb72 they did! Sucks that they took it away. I think my all time most read is Christine Feehan 2y
ShananigansReads @Clwojick he has over 700 books. My cousin and I marveled over the sheer number. 2y

I just didn't connect with the writing style and characters, so this was a solid meh for me. The plot was interesting enough, though it was clear there was a twist coming.

Excellent first book of what I can imagine will be an excellent series. I have always enjoyed the writing of James Patterson, however this book is my new favourite. The concept of a honeymoon killer also makes for an interesting read. The introduction of the woman‘s murder club is also intriguing, especially Cindy. Can‘t wait to read more.

suzie.reads Such a good series although it has gone off the book abit now 🤨 Waiting for number 20 to be released next month. 4y
AsYouWish @suzie.reads That is my only worry that because there are so many of them that they won‘t all live up to the first one. 4y
suzie.reads @AsYouWish I don't want to put you off because so many of them are fantastic but they aren't anymore, the past 2 or 3 are different. I don't think Patterson had any input. 4y

Bailed at 34% (3:01:21), due to gratuitous and graphic sexual violence and general lack of interest in the characters.

I‘ve loved this book from page one. This being the first book of the Women‘s Murder Club, I didn‘t know what to expect but Lindsey Boxer is awesome. I couldn‘t wait to read the whole series. You won‘t be disappointed and when you‘re done you‘ll be hungry for more! I‘ve read them all and can‘t wait for the next to hit the shelves.

Finally getting around to watching this James Patterson movie. So far so good ♥️ #BookToMovie #WeeklyChallenge #BookToMovie #MayMadness

Traci1 I didn't realize there was a movie. I liked the show based off the series but it didn't last long. I still picture Angie Harmon as Boxer when I'm reading the books, even though she doesn't fit the character description at all. 5y
Clwojick I just looked it up, and I totally agree! Tracy Pollen was more fitting of Patterson‘s description for Boxer. @Traci1 5y

Like any other book, I began to read this not knowing what to expect... but damn, that‘s one heck of a way to keep you on the edge of your seat. Even if you‘re not into murder mysteries, this book WILL convert you. It also gives you a twist ending, & when you think you might have figured it out, think again because there‘s a twist ending on top of that! It‘s one of those adrenaline-inducing reads.

Thanks to #ANDITSAUGUST I've realized I need to read more books with strong female friendships! The women's murder club books were the only ones I could really think of. The plots of these books have been getting ridiculous of late, but the@four main characters are always there for each other. #Girlfriends

At first this book has me confused, I couldn't understand why it started out with a suicide attempt but then as I read the book it became pretty clear why and I will admit that if I had been in Lindsay's shoes I might have done the same thing if the man I loved was murdered by a psycho like Chessy. But to see Nicholas Jenks get killed in the end really made the book for me. The chemistry between the women of the Murder Club is fantastic.

#Riotgrams #day6 #NumberTitles I found these on my shelves, the only number titles I could find. Have no idea what they're about, I have no memory of reading them. Knowing James Patterson, I assume there's lots of dead women in them. Yep, just looked at the description and lots of murdered women. These are the first two in his Women's Murder Club series.

Andrew65 This is my favourite series by him, and great to have strong female leads. 7y
