We got the barest hint of first flurries today in Mass & Rhode Island. Not enough to appear in a #BeautyBreak photo. BUT! I went to college in VT & I have friends who are still there. One of them shared a picture in our group chat of the view outside her window. ❄️💜

When a longtime elderly substitute is found quietly passed away in the faculty lounge in a Texas high school, it kicks off what is to become a year full of challenges. Through the eyes of teachers, administrators, and staff, we walk through the year‘s events, both personal and professional. Funny, touching, and very in-the-moment as we get a glimpse of teachers lives.

This is YA novel about Colt and Julia, two teens from opposite ends of the social/financial spectrum who embark on a secret relationships is well-written but doesn‘t really end up going anywhere. Light pick.

I got started on #ComicsBingo right away, because why not. The art grew on me; the story felt a little bit rushed, but I had fun anyway with Lupe -- and all her facial expressions. So teenage. 🤣

The ending was maybe a bit trite.

It's a light pick, like 3/5 stars (“liked it“) on my usual rating scale, but I had fun.

I really enjoyed Ashley Elston's adult thriller Frist Lie Wins, so I decided to pick up one of her other books. However, this one didn't work for me. I found it really predictable and kind of boring.

However, I think young readers would really enjoy it.

Full disclosure, it probably won‘t be that useful to you on the AP exam, since for some reason they don‘t test your knowledge of hundred-year-old publishing gossip.
