This is a re-read that I try to do every year. I borrowed my stepdad's copy of the book this year to read cause my copy is a mass paperback and I just wanted larger print this time. I love this book. The characters and the story is great. It is something I look forward to reading every year. I rated the book a 5 out of 5 stars. My stepdad is who got me to reading Tolkien when I was 16 years old.

Fantasy. I learned to read with fantasy books, my dad read fantasy to me and my sisters every night growing up. Fantasy is baked into my very foundation. ✨

I‘m beginning to see a pattern here! A few books I‘ve read, some on my TBR, some I‘ve never even heard of the author, and some I‘ve read other books by the authors but not the ones on the list. These are the whopping 4/100 that I‘ve read. #TLT

I‘ve started a ritual of reading something relaxing before bed with a cup of chamomile and honey to help with my insomnia. This is my third time trying to enjoy the Hobbit, although I love the movies. I started this attempt with a mindset that I was reading something very cozy and ended up loving it. I even cried at the ending. I‘ve purchased lotr, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and The Children of Húrin to read next ☺️ It is my Feb pick ?

Working on a new mini kit while listening to the Hobbit. This one is called Magic Forest and it's like a witches cottage in an enchanted forest. I remembered to put a ruler in the picture for scale this time 🤗

Impossible to resist a “greatest books” list.

I‘ve read 56 of the 100 books which puts me, at the moment, at #20 on the list.

Favorites include the tagged book—love it and The Fellowship of the Rings—as well as I Want My Hat Back (love Klassen), American Born Chinese, and The Graveyard Book.

Books I would add: The Lightning Thief (first Percy Jackson), Stuck (Oliver Jeffers), & The Monster at the End of this Book.

Thanks for the #ThreeListThursday tag @dabbe 😀 What a fun flashback to childhood. I did quite well at 53% read. It's also highlighted a few I never got to reading as a child, I'd like to get to at some point.

I read one of my favorite stories again for a couple of reasons this month! It was my #bookspin but I am also pregnant!!! My mom read to me throughout her whole pregnancy, and I want to carry on that tradition! What better book to start with than this?! My hubby and I are so excited to welcome our little hobbit next May!! 😊🥳💜

1. I think the oldest thing I own is a book about Chicago published in 1880. It talks about the city‘s history, interesting stories, and sites to see when visiting. Beautiful illustrations throughout. It‘s a really cool little book.

2. I would love for The Hobbit, or a book like it, to still be relevant in 100 years. It‘s what got me into reading and I hope it holds the same magic for future generations too.

I really enjoyed seeing Bilbo's personal growth along the way. Events out of his control conspire to throw him far outside of his comfort zone, and he rises to the challenge. It did run me through all the emotions though. It has suspense, fear, wonder, joy and sadly even heartbreak. I am currently traveling home myself and also very much identify with Bilbo in wanting to be back in my very own comfortable hobbit hole.

This is a long overdue re-read.

Look it‘s just a really magical story isn‘t it? Perhaps the only thing more magical than reading it yourself for the first time, is reading it to someone else for their first time (even if they‘re a bit too little to remember it). Already looking forward to reading this together again.

🎧 📖 : our road trip read - The Hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien. Brilliant performance by Andy Serkis! He did voices that sounded remarkably like the actors‘ from the movie and in general was such an engaging narrator.
Our only complaint is that the sound mixing is weird -the loud parts are blaring and the quiet parts are so very quiet. We constantly had to adjust the volume. In the car and headphones - same issue.

I loved listening to this book!!! It was Andy Serkis as the narrator. Who is Gollum in the movies. I rated this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I brought this with my on my recent trip to New Zealand and it was so much fun to read it while traipsing through Peter Jackson's reimagined Middle Earth. ❤️

A reread for me. The last time I read it I was in middle school. I was shocked at how much of my memory of it had been hijacked by the films. I‘m curious to see how much I misremember from the following trilogy. 😅 This will always be a very nostalgic story for me. I felt a profound connection to the young woman I was when I first read it and fell in love with Tolkien‘s world. ❤️
This was part of my February #Roll100

I took Kili to the vet this morning for his checkup, and I had to settle a discussion about his name. The vet thought it must be short for Kilimanjaro, but the tech knew it was one of the dwarfs from The Hobbit. “You know, Kili and Fili, the hot ones.”

1. Yes! But not for a long time…I might have to rectify that soon. Blanket fort reading is always spectacular.

2. The tagged book because when I was little there was one winter when every weekend my mom would read a chapter of The Hobbit to my sisters & I. She read from the illustrated edition (based on the animated movie), almost always in front of the fire, & it was perfect. One of my most vivid childhood memories.

Late lunch #CoffeeAndABook - pumpkin cold brew and breakfast melt sandwich plus more Hobbit after (nearly) completing my Christmas shopping 🛍️ 🎄

Actually starting this reread today! Time for #coffeeandabook - mocha with an extra shot and an egg and cheddar biscuit 📖 ☕️ 😋

Just waiting to meet up with my mom. Might as well start my re-read of The Hobbit with my iced white mocha (with raspberry cold foam and an extra shot) while I wait #coffeeandabook

I DNF these books in the past but after many moons, I enjoyed it. I‘m so glad I gave it another chance. There are so many psychological aspects in this story. The audiobook is amazing. 4 ⭐️
I‘m not officially in the group but I read it because of #FellowshipOfTolkien group @JazzFeathers It gave me an opportunity to read this series. I hope I can read the 2nd book next month.

I‘m so excited to read this with kiddo! We started this morning and she already likes hobbits because I‘ve told her about their meal schedule. She approves.
