🕷️ 4.5 Stars • In the town of (UNDISCLOSED) the Zombie Apocalypse has begun! From the book: “There exists in this world a spider the size of a dinner plate, a foot wide if you include the legs. It‘s called the Goliath Bird-Eating Spider, or the “Goliath ғȗċҡıṅɢ Bird-Eating Spider” by those who have actually seen one. It doesn‘t eat only birds—it mostly eats rats and insects...”

You know the book is actually written by David Wong… but the character or one of them is Jason Pargin…. Cool so I finished this and it‘s one of the books that have great characters funny in a disturbing horror kind of way but really it‘s great especially if you like horror and 🕷️

Honestly holds up so well as a sequel to John Dies At The End. I love the way the relationship between David and Amy has progressed, and watching the new characters running frantically in and out of the story was so amusing to see

First book to give me nightmares since before puberty! High praise. Creepy, gross, hilarious. Sometimes offensively so. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves horror and enjoys a poop or butthole joke from time to time.

I imagine if the book is full of spiders, then it also has a #spiderweb or two. I won‘t find out because I hated the first book and so I took all three to my local used bookstore for credit. 😆

If the cover doesn't give you #panic & the title doesn't, try the warning on the back cover: You may have a huge, invisible spider living in your skull. THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR.
I loved this book, as well as John Dies at the End. I have yet to read his two following books, but definitely plan on doing so sooner than later.

Centique I love spiders @MicheleinPhilly Blame it on a primary school teacher getting us to draw and study them and make cobwebs out of string until I considered them spooky little knitters. Moths however are awful. They can FLY and land in your hair. It‘s horrifying! 5y
MicheleinPhilly @Centique Harmless house spiders don‘t bother me. It‘s the thick ones that really gross me out. Spiderwebs, the really intricate ones, are beautiful. I just don‘t need to see the tenants. ☺️ 5y

I liked this one much better than the first. The plot is much more streamlined and easy to follow, and the author does horror SO well. I was genuinely terrified reading this (and it doesn‘t help that I read most of it at night). I still have issues with the offensive language, but that‘s just me.

Thank you, @LibrarianRyan - I will hang up the sparkly spider, it's much too cool to hide in a book. Will make a great addition to my meagre Halloween decoration. 😉

#TBRtemptation post 2! This is the sequel to "John Dies At the End". This one is full of Lovecraftian slacker humor and over-the-top jokes and gore. There's spiders in people's heads, metaphorical ones. And there's a zombie outbreak, a real one. Solid ratings from the first installment's fans. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?

Dave and John are back in this sequel to "John Dies at the End". This book is just as good as the first in the series. The weirdness, the monsters, & the apocalypse are all there too. This novel is much more continuous in its progression whereas "John Dies" was alot more sporadic and felt like you were reading episodes that marched you toward the end of the story. Really enjoyed this series so far and cant wait for the next one.

I LOVE #weirdbooks, and just weird everything, and some of my craziest favorites are the works of David Wong. He's hilarious and revolting and his writing is absolutely enthralling. Not for the faint of heart, though. 😂😂😂 The disembodied hand on the JDatE cover reminded me of my weird behind the scenes photo from Harold and Maude, so I thought Bud Cort deserved to be included too. 🙃 #somethingforsept
